A hidden gem I must say. Was visiting with some my my friends this summer when visiting London and was not let down. Ordered the pre-starter, paani poori with chaat to start with which kicked on our palate for the exciting mains. The starters in chicken, lamb & vegetarian were just so succulent & delicious that we could not have asked for more. The mains included Khada masala, manglorian chicken curry, daal makhani, prawn, baigan bharta, palak & assorted breads. The presentation & taste of each were just SUPER. Have not tried such amzing stuff in London, much better than overrated Dishoom. A must visit.

We decided to start with the sharing platter, which was made up of a number of items, including an excellently succulent malai tikka chicken. We also loved the tandoori paneer (it’s very difficult for paneer not to seduce me), and the spiced cashew nuts gave a nice crunch. The chili squid was adequately spicy, but the winner for us was the seekh kebab, which was bursting with flavour. The side salad nestled on the side of the board felt slightly out of place, but apart from that, the board was a roaring success.

It is always a happy day when you discover a new restaurant within comfortable walking distance of your home.  And when it transpires that its chef is a Michelin-level trained Indian woman, who honed her skills at London’s high-end Indian restaurants, The Bombay Brasserie and its Michelin-starred sister restaurant Quilon, as well as having worked on the opening team of the very first Brasserie Blanc, (and promoted to Head Chef under the tutelage of its owner, the famed Michelin-starred Chef Raymond Blanc OBE), well then you know you’ve found the jewel in the neighbourhood crown.

I always love it when a restaurant really surprises me. Ones you have really no idea what to expect from them, but end up leaving you wanting to come back the next day. That’s exactly what happened when I visited PURE Indian Cooking in Fulham. An Indian restaurant with a visionary female head chef named Shilpa Dandekar, cooking dishes with passion which have been inspired by memories of India.

Purity is an interesting concept in food. Some people believe that one should not deviate from tradition as the best dishes are those perfected over hundreds of years. Then, there are those who believe that tradition is just a starting point for inspiration. This debate can often be quite heated, protracted and sometime amusing.  It seems like everyone has their own two cents to add to the discussion. So, with a name like Pure, one would have thought that this place would be solely, genuinely traditional. Surprisingly, it isn’t – the food is Indian still but with modern twists.  It goes to show when innovation goes well, that things can turn out exemplary.  Sometimes, not so though…  Thankfully this was to be one of the former, not latter.

Pure Indian Cooking delivers a contemporary, modern and innovative take on Indian cooking and cuisine. A welcoming environment in which to tantalise your taste buds with an eye-catching menu offering a broad variety of dishes at a medium spice level designed to appeal to all tastes. Spacious yet ambient in its restaurant offering; the first thing you notice is the use of colours and textures in their decor. Coupled with the delectable aromas and friendly staff you settle in easily.

The use of different textures is also apparent in the dishes that are prepared in the kitchen. We started with the papad, crudités and chutneys before moving on to a trio of starters including the crispy chilli fried squid, pounded coriander and goat's cheese samosa served with a trio of tomato, mint and beetroot chutneys and patra chaat. The patra chaat is a revelation; a crispy, multi-textured salad of colocasia leaves with yoghurt, date and tamarind chutney, pomegranate, onion and tomato. It is a real dazzle to the senses and should be ordered just to try something special. The chilli squid is delicious and the generous portion size is appreciated as they are so moreish. The samosas are a mouthwatering feat; crispy pastry and delicious filing served with chutneys that elevate and bind together these flavours.

Moving on to the main course we knew a treat lay ahead; the main courses offered included game meats such as duck and venison. Additionally, there are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and seafood - prawns, crab, halibut and cod - dishes. We indulged (there is no other way to describe it!) in halibut cafreal, - halibut cooked in green masala served with fried potato - managalorean chicken, - succulent pieces of chicken cooked with coconut and byadgi chillies - and lamb sukke - maharastrian style lamb cooked in dry spices which is one of Pure's more spicy dishes. Accompanied by lasooni palak - creamy spinach with brown garlic and dry fenugreek leaves, steamed rice and the lightest buttery naan. The mangalorean chicken is simply delicious with the softest, juiciest chicken smothered in a perfectly balanced creamy yet rich coconut sauce. The lamb is rich and flavoursome with just the right amount of heat to be a complement to the chicken. The Lasooni palak proved to be some of the creamiest spinach I have ever tried and is definitely worth an order!

Pure Indian Cooking is a fresh take on Indian food that is enticing, interesting and a breath of fresh air. This restaurant, a mere stone's throw away from Parsons Green's station offers you a restaurant and a take away option that is a welcome treat for every day of the week.

Came here for dinner before a football match! The staff are very friendly: the restaurant was full and they were busy with takeaways when we went, so there was a bit of a wait for food, but the servers were apologetic and updated us when our food would be ready soon (my partner and I did not mind the wait though, it was worth it). The buttered naan was soft and warm, and tasted great with my mangalorean chicken. My partner really enjoyed his biryani too. Our appy was delicious. The restaurant is clean and the decor is simple. Would recommend coming here!

Was searching for restaurants on Google and found this hidden gem, nice environment, good food with reasonable price. The nann was extraordinary! Remember to ask for allergy information though as some of the food might be a little bit spicy, but the taste was nice. Excellent service and very friendly people being honest with mistake on price, and was given a tasty dessert. Thank you and we would definitely recommend to friends:)

Perfect restaurant experience! Clean and organised. The staff are extremely knowledgeable on the food and are happy to steer you in the right direction. The menu is extensive and therefore can accommodate most people’s tastes. They have a good wine list at very reasonable prices and offer a wide selection of other drinks too. My weekly curry destination!

Had a dinner with my friend this week and everything was sooo delicious. This is, without any doubt, the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. The atmosphere is very relaxing, the restaurant is very cosy. Staff is always smiley and no request is too big. Portions are quite big and we loved every single dish. Will definitely be returning soon.

Flavorful food at a reasonable price, backed by attention to the customer We ordered the dal makhani (black lentil dal 🍵), Patra Chaat (crunchy colocasia leaves with pomegranate🍃), and murgh khatta pyaaz (chicken with pickled onion 🐔🧅) The first bite of every dish was full of flavor and well balanced. The chicken and the colocasia dishes' flavors were each blended beautifully, and the balance between sweet, sour, and savory was well achieved. For the chicken, you could feel the individual spices coming together to form a warm richness that was cut through by the onions dispersed within. The colocasia was fresh, vibrant, but also relied on spices underneath to provide something more to enjoy beyond the freshness of the cold yogurt and pomegranate. The dal was very creamy, rich, and mildly spiced. I personally preferred the other two dishes as this one was slightly saltier than I would have wanted 🧂 and its spice blend was good and comforting, but as described in the menu it was simply mildly spiced The staff was friendly and very helpful, making friendly recommendations when asked and offering to help whenever we needed it. We really felt welcomed and looked after Overall a great experience I would definitely return for. One of the best Indian dining experiences I've had in London

An unexpected highlight for my London trip. We ordered after consulting the owner based on our preferences and he kindly suggested the Patra chaat as a starter (first picture) and we also got the Two Type tiki (second picture). The tiki one being mushroom was savory and melted in your mouth. The other was artichoke with plum which was slightly sweet. The went very well together. The Patra Chaat was phenomenal. A crunchy sweet that played melodies on my tastebuds. A unique creation by the chef of the restaurant that you can't find anywhere else. Highly recommended. Our mains included the Lamb sukke (3rd Pic) and the Managalorean chicken (4th). The lamb was super tender with a balanced kick and heat. Not overpowering heat but just enough to let you know. The chicken was sweet to the taste and went well with naan because the curry sauce could be picked better with naan than the rice. The lamb I thought went better mixed with rice. Both were equally amazing. The portion sizes were just right so we had no business ordering dessert but we did to complete the experience. It was kinda of an aprocot cobbler. It had an spice that made unique and was quite satisfying. In short a hidden gem and when come back to London most likely I will come back before I leave again.

Absolutely incredible! I was craving Indian cuisine and this restaurant came highly recommended in the area I was staying from google, and my goodness it definitely lived up to its expectations! My lovely server Swapnil recommended me the Patra Chaat for my starter and its the most beautiful array of flavours in your mouth, this is made in house and its their original recipe so you wont find it anywhere else, I recommend you to definitely try it you will be thoroughly impressed. My main dish was the butter chicken absolutely scrumptious the level of spice was just perfect. All in all blown away by the food, the ambiance of the restaurant is so cosy and comforting and my server Swapnil was so attentive, kind and welcoming. I will be recommending you to all of my friends and family and you will surely see me back sooner than later. Thank you Pure Indian Cooking :)

An absolute hidden gem. We’ve been there a number of times now and never been disappointed. A whole array of wonderful dishes. I can recommend the Patra Chaat. Or Jackfruit Galouti. Or the Paneer Tikka. Or the broccoli. For meat lovers there is the Southern Spiced chicken. Some of the desserts (baked yoghurt) are just divine The service is prompt and thoughtful. Location is good with both tube and parking options nearby. All in all a lovely place to spend an evening at.

We've tried this place for the first time and we were amazed by the food quality and the service. We had two mains (one chicken and one vegetarian) and they were both delicious; rice, bread and one beer and we paid £37 including service. I also want to mention Swapnil as he was super kind giving us suggestions and offering also a sorbet at the end of the dinner. We'll definitely come back and this is the best Indian restaurant near Putney Bridge station.
