All lipsmackingly good! Definitely recommend this to anyone who’s in soho/ Oxford st area
Great little
Find.
Cheap for the quality - half chicken, chips , coleslaw , halloumi, humus, Pitta, Lebanese beer, vodka lime
And lemonade - £35!!!!
Food is street food style- simple but well cooked.
For the wedge and atmosphere can't really give it less than full
Marks.
Only thing I can think of as a negative is the menu is limited but we already know what we want to eat before we sit down right?
Reminded us straight away of Bali back street open restaurant and the Thai place in Hells Kitchen NY-
Check the online menu- if that's what you want to eat go to cookhouse joes.
Week two of new job and we headed off to Cookhouse Joe for a work lunch to see the weekend through. It’s a popular haunt amongst the crew here, and it’s easy to see why with £7 getting you half a chicken, fries, and a side from a selection of coleslaw, salad and corn. You also get a sauce, mine was garlic and yeah, sorry about that afternoon breath. Not quite an aioli, there’s a rustic chunkiness to this sauce. The chicken’s cooked really well, and you get plenty on the tray for a end of week appetite. Chips are good, but rumour has it that you get way more when you get takeaway. I was a bit meh on the corn, and the chicken could have benefited from a few herbs, but altogether, a fairly good lunch break.
Really good value and top quality chicken for a lunch spot. Half a beautifully cooked rotisserie chicken with salad or chips will set you back just £7. A bargain for Soho, and some lovely staff as well.
Dam good chicken. Used to pop here for a wrap on my lunch breaks.
I have eaten here for a sit down meal too and had a really great time the restaurant isn't huge as it is mainly a takeaway venue. The atmosphere is good and the food is quick and easy.
It is not too far from Oxford Circus either so the location is great!
I have been a huge fan and a regular customer at Soho Joe for a while now, yet for some reason until a few weeks ago have failed to visit their sister restaurant Cookhouse Joe . Where Soho Joe specialises in pizzas, Cookhouse Joe is all about the rotisserie chicken. The rest of the menu has a bit of a Middle Eastern theme with side dishes such as falafel, halloumi and houmous. The smell from the rotisserie ovens that floods your nostrils when you walk in is incredible, it's instantly mouth watering. We were seated at the back of the restaurant right by the kitchen with a great view of the chickens that were lined up waiting to go in our hungry bellies. Chicken isn't the only option at Cookhouse Joe , there are a few burger options and lamb koftas on the menu. As there were three of us and we all wanted to sample the main event, and to try as many things as we possibly could, we decided that the best way forward would be to share a whole chicken and then as many sides as we coul
Recently opened up on Berwick Street, Cookhouse Joe is a new venture from the Soho Joe’s team. Promising to bring a Lebanese twist to rotisserie chicken, the menu offers a middle-eastern inspired feast at affordable prices. Let’s be clear, this certainly isn’t fine dining. The decor is simple and the general feel is pretty laid back. Yet this is arguably what makes Cookhouse so appealing…perfect for lining the stomach before hitting the nearby bars. The food itself was good, especially price-wise. We started off with a meze of various appetizers. Our personal highlights were the grilled halloumi, aubergine dip and falafel. All three a steal at only £4 each! The falafel were especially great…nice and crispy, without being dry – not to mention the tahini dip. The chicken comes in three sizes – full, half, or quarter – and is served up with your choice of sauce. We found that the subtly spiced meat worked best with the cucumber & mint yoghurt. Oh, and be sure to order a side of the
There’s something strangely comforting about roast chicken. It evokes memories of family meals and lazy afternoons. It’s not just a british tradition either – the French know the value of a good rotisserie and so, it turns out, do the Lebanese.
A good cheap eat option and I love the procececco Wednesdays £12.00 a bottle! The chicken is really tender and you can get a decent meal for under a tenner.
It's a small restaurant but I've been here 3 times in the last in the last two months and it's always been nice and good value.
Really enjoyed this cheap & rustic eat for lunch. £8 for half chicken, fries & salad. £6.50 pint of Camden Pale. Aubergine side with bread (£5.50). Fresh & hot. Totally stuffed after. Would happily eat here again (& probably will).
Cookhouse Joe's is one of those places you hear so much about, but you really have to go to see why it's great. The food here is delicious, you have to get the rotisserie chicken on your first time, we shared a whole chicken and two sides between the two of us and it was just right. Beyond the food, it's small and atmospheric - with enough sound to talk with a friend. I wouldn't be the best date place, but it's great for dinner with friends (especially the ground floor). The drink selection and the interior decor are both good compliments to the main event, but what stands out for Cookhouse is the service. We had a really friendly attentive server, who totally made the experience for me. He went out of his way to get us what we needed, and got the small touches right.
Critically, cookhouse Joe is great food and great service at a great price. We had three alcoholic drinks and a big main course for £25 each including service - very good price for London. I would highly recommend it here, and will definitely be back!
Good food, fair prices and good atmosphere.
Quite well hidden, but a good spot for some decent food nonetheless.
Food is Lebanese and is well priced, and portioned well.
The only down sides are the size of the restaurant (quite small) and that some areas are fairly dark so reading the menus can be a challenge!
One of the few restaurants have been back to time and again. Was craving for their chicken wings with lemon mayo. Was not disappointed. Tiny restaurant so perhaps book ahead.
Excellent rottiserrie chicken restaurant. Fantastic range of starters, brilliant Mediterranean cuisine. Reasonable prices. Always a fun night. It is my chosen restaurant for parties.
Incredible!!! Fine, lovely place in Soho. Not expensive. Staff makes you feel at home. Food tasty, medium - high quality. A must at Soho
It’s cheap and a relaxed place. The chicken didn’t quite taste Peruvian and the garlic sauce was fine so I’m guessing it’s more Lebanese? I’m a bit confused. But the chicken was very moist and for London this kind of money for a meal is ridiculously cheap especially when it’s in soho area
Killer place to eat! Busy hopping place with lots of younger locals. Fast service. Great staff. Cool building. I had the half chicken, my wife had the falafel burger and my son the regular burger. All smiles all around!
This is a great place to have tasty grilled chicken and amazing grilled halloumi. It might not catch your eye at once, but it is definitely worth a try. Prices are very reasonable, considering it's located in Soho, and we were very happy with the quality of the food.
Found this on a whim and had a lovely solo dinner here. It’s a great cozy comfortable spot. I ordered a 1/4 chicken + grilled halomi salad. Chili and yogurt sauce are both amazing. Recommend the haloumi salad, chicken breast was a bit dry but i probably would have ordered it again anyway..
