The best aged meat ever one of the rare places where you can enjoy a really nice atmosphere and amazing service from a really trained staff bravo 👏
While looking for best steak places around Piccadilly circus we stumbled upon this place! And it was worth!!!
Pls Note - Reservation is necessary (Although we walked inn but the staff was modest enough to give us a seat at bar counter)
Ambiance -
This place has some lovely ambiance. The seating is spacious and can accommodate large groups as well.
Food -
We tried obiviously their famous steak & Wild Mushroom Chicken Risotto. Trust us the food was mind blowing!
We totally loved it. No complaints!!
Service -
The service was great as well. The staff was friendly and were prompt in their service!
One of the best stakes in Town. Responsibly sourced cuts. Make sure you have the shrimp for starters. The truffle chips are excellent. Do not leave without having dessert.
The steak was cooked perfectly, the waiters are super friendly and attentive, and the place is perfect for friends outings, family gatherings, and romantic dates.
I was very pleased with the service, the waiters are very friendly and not stuck up unlike some places i have been to of a similar price. They firstly give you bread and butter which was tasty and we ordered a main with sides each and also dessert. The food was amazing, the macaroni cheese and the mash with caramelized onions was so good! I wish i got chips too everything looked delicious. They give generous side portions wish i could of ate more sides! :) I highly recommend this restaurant, i will definitely go back here!
After days of waiting to get a seat in there, I was amused by the high quality food and astounding service. Before jumping into the review, a huge shoutout for our waitress "Ellie" for being so kind, funny and lovely. For the food, appetisers were ravioli, burrata, fried shrimp and rocket salad. All were soooo good especially the fried shrimp(so crispy #dying). For mains we ordered the US sirloin and US fillet which both were so tender and tasty. The goodman burger was so good as well but I didn't like the fries that came with it. The mac and cheese was delicious but was a bit heavy. For desserts, we ordered tiramisu which so full of coffe, my mouth was dry after that. I didn't like the tiramisu tbh. The cookie sundae , on the other hand, was quite the thing, it was delicious.
The best place to have steak at in London is here. They display the meats for you to choose from including wagyu and different types of meat. The service and location are both great
Tender, tasty meats. Different cuts available. Staff will explain differences and recommend. Good wine selection. Recommended for meat lovers.
The meat quality was just amazing, I had the smallest portion of fillet but still couldn't finish it. The receptionists were almost absent-minded however.
We went into Goodman Mayfair on the Monday of our wedding week - it was intended as a quiet little date night before the madness ensued, and I couldn't imagine anywhere better! The staff we lovely, it was a nice atmosphere - not rammed but busy enough. The meat tray was brought over which pretty much made my week (wedding aside). We had the chateaubriand to share, mostly so we could compare it to the Hawksmoor version which was a veritable meatgasm. Goodman came extremely close.Â
The dry-aged beef is so crusty on the outside which I LOVE, but was so juicy and rare in the middle. The mac and cheese was good, but was made with big spirals when I think the smaller macaroni works better. We also had garlicky spinach which was lovely, and bearnaise, pepper and mushroom sauces. I think bearnaise was too much with the mac and cheese, but it was still delicious.Â
They brought a banana parfait at the end with a congrats message on, which was comped - thought that was a lovely touch and I hope to return! Very close to Hawksmoor in terms of quality and service but will have to go back to both to be sure :)
HAWKSMOOR IS BETTER! Actually Goodman is a really decent steak but definitely not even close to Hawksmoor. If you are betweem one of the two, do yourself a favor and book a table in Hawksmoor.
A culinary education!. Service outstanding. Server took a lot of time and patience clearly explaining the different types of steaks, listened to our preferences , questions etc and steered us in the right direction. Not only did we eat amazing steak, but learned a lot in the process. Loved the atmosphere and the sommelier wine recommendation was perfect. Definitely recommend. Definitely would go again.
We liked. Especially the chips – three different kinds. I had a six hour lunch here, only curtailed by the fact that I had dinner somewhere else. The waiters didn't bat an eyelid and they couldn't have been more friendly. We had five different types of potato accompaniment, as well as the obligatory steaks. The truffle chips were particularly outstanding. This is a good steak house with an excellent wine list and all the usual trimmings
It isn't fancy or fussy but it does what it does very well. It's not cheap but the quality of the meat is excellent and the service is helpful and relaxed.
I'd recommend it.
A great steak. I really enjoyed eating at Goodman (Mayfair) for a few reasons. Firstly the restaurant had a great vibe, secondly the service was terrific and thirdly the food was absolutely delicious. To be honest, I would have to say that the steak was probably the second best I have ever eaten (the first, still being Peter Luger NY). The tempura prawn and lobster cocktail were scrumptious entrees and the steak with a plethora of sides made a delectable main course to share. I would definitely go back to Goodman and believe it is one of the best steaks you can find in London.
Food: 8 / 10
Service: 8 / 10
Ambience: 8 / 10
Dying to go back. We can't stop raving about Goodman. Everything was absolutely positively delicious _ the meat was top notch (and loved how they bring out the meat plate to show you), The sides were incredible (seriously, order two of the mac& cheeses. We got a second after tearing through the first!), the starters could stand alone and the service was impeccable.
Carnivorous Heaven. Finally got to Goodmans last night. Well worth the wait. We skipped starters - well, why use up valuable tummy space when you come here for one thing only - apart from a nicely made kir royale. We were treated to a display of the steaks on offer by our charming waitress. I plumped for the New York Strip (aka sirloin), 400g from memory, at ÂŁ27. USDA beef, so grain fed, which reaped rewards in the butteriness. Slightly overcooked (requested medium rare) but with a gorgeous char. Got greedy on the sides so we had chips (OK), creamed spinach (OK) and the most beautiful truffled macaroni cheese with fontina (a snip at ÂŁ4). Washed down with a gorgeous Barolo which they decanted for us.
Will be back. Oh yes. I have to conduct an in depth study on the difference between every single cut and origin they have. It's vital ;)
A gastronomic pub done by a top notch chef. Amazing food an service with very reasonable prices!
Better than Vadis or Hawksmoor?. Having been talking to friends about steak the other night, they said I hadn’t tried steak until I had been to Quo Vadis or Hawksmoor. Well I have a new name to add to the list, Goodman Steak House of Mayfair.
I popped in there the other night to be assaulted by some of the best tasting steak I had ever tried. A big ask seen as I lived in New York for a good 30 years before travelling to London.
The restaurant is decked out just like a New York or Chicago style place, with plenty of space on table and between tables… I might be back for valentines… Red Meat, Red Wine and space to whisper sweet nothings. You get the drift.
Anyway I wanted steak and so did the wife. We were promptly given a display and explanation of the cuts by our superb Polish man Pawel. They were on that night serving two different Fillets and two Striploin (Sirloin) and three different Ribeyes. One on the bone. Origins were from either Australia , USA or British. The difference in flavours are apparently marked and The USA we were told was the Juicy Steak because of the excess marbling (fatty goodness). Australia was the leaner cut and the British the most flavorsome and aged on site. Apparently the only joint in London to do so. Great. The excitement buildeth and my wife went for the Goodman USA Ribeye 400g and me 800g Rib on the Bone British.
Both steaks were outrageously tasty, the British, beautifully cooked to medium rare with a char crust on the outside. Not so melt in the mouth but a flavour I have rarely experienced. And to think it was British beef. The US meat very tender and very juicy, my wife proclaiming it as the best she has ever had.
We assisted our steaks after navigating the wine list with a Clos Henri Pinot Noir. A superb Pinot from New Zealand. I have since ordered it online and now have it in the cellar for the next special occasion.
Dessert was equally impressive with a beautiful Crème Brulee and a Cheesecake alike. Very fresh and all made on site from scratch. Bonus points aplenty.
Overall a great Steak out. Really Great and I have heard since that they will be doing a Superbowl Night here. I am there , with or without the wife.
Dinner for two came in at 125 including excellent service and wine………
Overall the food was solid, but didn’t quite live up to the £70 per head price tag. What made me forgive this though, was the service, which was flawless throughout. Our waitress really was as good as they get. I find Hawksmoor can be a little bit like a conveyor belt where the staff are all just part of that steak churning machine. Here the waitress was incredibly relaxed and gave us plenty of much-needed time to let the kilo of food settle. There’s a lot to love about Goodman and I’ll definitely come back, but if like me, you can only convince your partner to go to a steakhouse on a rare occasion, then I’d sooner return to Hawksmoor.
For a long time, I've been excited to let myself explore the London food scene in terms of its basic foundations. What good is it if the fine-dining scene is spectacular but the street-food scene is uninspiring? After all, it's not like most of us can afford fine-dining experiences on a daily basis! I've always loved burgers and it is a meal pretty much everyone enjoys and loves so I thought it would make the best test of the culinary foundations of London. In the last few years, so many burger joints have popped up in London. They tend to be small in size, have a no-reservations policy and an indie vibe. I have tried to capture all sorts of atmospheres with the restaurants from the burgers made in the dingy corners of Soho to the more decadent burgers made in glamorous Mayfair. However, there are some fantastic burger joints that I didn't include on here such as that of Tommi's Burger Joint because I've already written a review. 6. BAR BOULUDÂ This was my second visit and fortunately,
GOODMAN STEAKHOUSE If what you’re after is a New York style steak, then Goodman Steakhouse is the place to go. In all my years in London I have found it difficult to find any steakhouse to contend with Goodman, as it not only offers delicious steaks but it does so at moderate prices, as some steakhouses tend to get extremely expensive. On my latest visit to Goodman I went for an early dinner with my mother and brother, and we were all quite hungry, so when time came to order we knew exactly what we wanted. To start I had the Lobster Bisque, my mother ordered the Lobster Cocktail and my brother went for the Prawn Tempura. The Lobster Bisque with crème fraiche was creamy and delicious and the subtle hints of tarragon amused me all the way through. The lobster cocktail was also yummy and the prawn tempura, which was accompanied with a mango and Cajun mayonnaise was also quite good, but not as yummy and refreshing as the lobster cocktail. For our main dishes we obviously all ordered steak
The soft seeded brioche is flush with the circumference of the patty. It all stacks to create a shimmering, majestic block as high as it is wide, only to be crushed and splayed by your clumsy, aging fingers.
Whilst Goodman Mayfair may mimic a NY steak joint, I'm wondering how many of those have a steady stream of diners descending to the meat locker to gawp at their wares... Such is the current interest in steak in London, that steak joints have become destination restaurants - the breeds, the sourcing, the cooking, all fodder for food bloggers to discuss, debate and dissect. There are at least four good restaurant groups with dedicated steak houses in London at the moment (including Goodman , Hawksmoor , Wolfgang Puck's CUT at 45 Park Lane , and 34 Grosvenor Square , part of Caprice Holdings). With such heavy hitters in the market, and with the prices being charged, Londoners are suddenly taking their meat very, very seriously indeed. Ordinarily I like my steak grilled on the open fire at the Cheyne Walk Brasserie , but one can't ignore the trend towards these places. Having eaten at Burger & Lobster the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it, I though it would be fun to start with Goodman M
We both plumped for the Scottish grass fed fillets, 250g apiece. One side of chips on the waiter's advice, and a bowl of creamed spinach with Gruyere.
This is good, straightforward food. I mentioned to the waiter that the ratio of men to women was about 9:1 and he said that in the evenings that was even more evident. It’s somewhere to enjoy being a carnivore and to eat well without too much fuss. As my dining companion and business partner said – the perfect place to take a man for a treat! If you DO go, I’d recommend bearing in mind the way the josper cooks when you choose your meat. And, enjoy!
If you've ever read a London-based food blog before, you'll know all about Goodman, with their hamburger in particular garnering a lot of praise from foodies.
An unstoppable urge for steak meant that none of the starters were going to get a look in unfortunately. Had I paused for a moment to see beyond the beef-based mist clouding my vision, I would have gone for the lobster bisque, because- well, who wouldn't?
Now this is a real American style burger. Dense and sweet pink meat kept its moisture under the crisp charred exterior and a minimum of extraneous greenery.
This was definitely the best steak I have eaten since leaving Argentina at the end of February 2010. Even the steaks at Garufa, BuenAyre, Hinds Head (although that comes in a close second), and our short recent trip to Paris, which I still have to write about if I can remember any of it now, didn't come close to these babies. I'm not going to say too much about the décor, as everyone in London bloggerland has eaten there already and knows how it is. Its dark woods lend it to a tad corporate or even clubroom feel. But it has a nice vibe to it, especially on a Saturday night. So let's get down to business shall we. The steaks and cuts. You can also read a more in-depth write up of Goodmans here and here , so I shall dispense with the technicalities of how the meat is bred etc. Our table of three were very impressed with the service, our waiter a French sounding guy from northern Brasil. It knocked us for six I can tell you. The training at Goodmans must be pretty good, as he was very kn
I almost did not bother to answer, thinking the affirmation so obvious that I could just turn up. In any case, my tardiness in reporting back on the Goodman burger has more to do with a hectic schedule, cleverly belying my utter raving enthusiasm for what
(N)ot for the faint-hearted, but if you are a burger fan I’d urge you to head over to Goodman to sample John’s epic tribute to the all-American burger
We know for example that you started with the pâté, chicken liver & foie gras w/onion jam & brioche toast and that you moaned about the lack of toast. We know that you wilfully refused the burger in favour of an equally excellent 400g USDA ribeye steak.
Once you walk through the door at Goodman, you first wonder if you have suddenly inadvertently walked into a memeber’s only men’s club.
Disclaimer: If you're a vegetarian, look away now. Oh wait, crap, I already posted three photos of the meat we had at Goodman Restaurant above, but ok, if you're vegetarian and you don't want to know how much of your beloved cow we actually ate, look away
A recent trip to New York made me open eyes to how seriously some people take meat. Burgers and steak are two of the lifeblood which seem to keep the New Yorkers moving. I was so spoilt for choice that I struggled to choose locations for both in my short
For some reason I decided to check out Twitter on Monday morning and stumbled across a tweet from Simon of Dos Hermanos , who was advertising a spare place at the 'Blokes Eat Beef' event that they had organised at Goodman . As a hardcore carnivore it was
Many a blogger had covered this steakhouse already, so I’ll make this review relatively brief, but basically since so many people agree that Goodman serves a pretty mean steak I had to get myself in on the action too.
In search of the best steak in London I felt that it was high time I visited Goodman , Mayfair. I was in a bit of a quandry, would it be burger or steak?? Decisions. I have put in more hours in search of the best burger, I don't often have steak, clearly

Steak Steak Steak - yes, there's a new Steakhouse in town and it has Russian roots. Nip over to Russia and chances are you'll come across one of these upmarket eateries before too long. Now the owners have taken the same concept to London, and have chosen
I like steakhouses. They are great for mea(e)ting up with mates being a halfway house between a restaurant and a pub - plus food is uncomplicated too. My mate is getting married soon (Matt I'm so proud of you geezer, sob.) and we thought it would be a gre
The Background: Everyone has already blogged about Goodman's. You should go read their posts. And then come back and look at my pictures. (This is where my London Restaurant Blog Search Widget comes in mighty handy.) Oh, and the night I was there? Alice w
Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way before we go any further. Goodman, although it pains me to my very soul to say it, is better than Hawksmoor. A greater variety of steaks, their own ageing room and a couple of top-end Josper oven grills in
Went for Friday lunch so was expecting it to be busy. Walked in after a struggle with the front door which was stuck and no one inside thought about helping. Anyway walking in told fully booked but lucky there was space in the bar to have a meal. The resturant was empty when we walked in but did start to get busy. I did comment that I bet we finish and leave and there will still be a few empty tables and I was right so I do question thier booking policy a little when being a new client we were not felt very welcome. Bar staff that served us made up for this and the lunchtime menu I think was food value with steak and chicken options to name just two. Food was great and served up hot and very quickly. Perfect for a quick lunch. Decor was nice and classic. Bill came in around ÂŁ55 for two but we did not have wine. But I think reasonable as it was very filling. I would go again but I am weary about the booking and walk in availability so I would have a backup planned just in case.
Best steak I've had in Lonfon so far. Lovely atmosphere, interior all wood and leather makes for a comfortable setting. Sat at the bar as we were a walk-in. The barman was just the right amount of chatty and with a great knowledge of their wines. Simple but effective.
My boyfriend was recently given a ÂŁ200 gift from work to spend at a restaurant of his choice, as a reward for some great feedback. I'm not sure that any news could have been received better by me than unless he'd said that Ryan Gosling was in town and he'd given me his blessing to... anyway, I digress. Free food. Delightful.Â
We plumped for Goodman's on the basis that we'd recently had a disappointing dinner at Hawksmoor and after an eye-watering bill decided there must be a better steak in London for these prices. And boy, did we make sure we made the most out of our 200 quid. Cocktails, a beautiful bottle of red wine, starters, mains, sides, pud the works. Service added, and we grinned smugly whilst handing over our £197.50. So yes, its not cheap, but theres lots going for it. I won't bother sharing the details of the less memorable dishes, and get straight onto what you really care about - the meat. We opted for a rib eye each, which was cooked to perfection, tender and flavourful. The kind of steak that really hits the spot. The mac and cheese is worth a visit alone - being a massive m&c fan I had been told about their lobster one and was drooling with anticipation, but alas this was not on the menu so had to be content with the standard version - and content I was.  I have to say, I wasn't a huge fan of the decor - I get that its trying to be understated but I actually found it a bit stuffy, and cold. We actually had to ask to move tables to escape the draft of the door. But the chipper waitresses were accommodating and knowledgable, and all in all it was a delightful meal - made all the sweeter by the fact it was free!
Goodman’s continues to prosper by the tried and tested formula of offering high quality meat to the carnivorous. The dining room is a little on the dark side, and does not bother with fripperies such as tablecloths. One reflection of the greater scale of operation was apparent at my visit today. On checking on whether the British beef was still supplied by O’Sheas, I was told that they only have that now at certain times, and that other suppliers were also used. This dilution of focus is perhaps understandable given the considerable demands of volume that Goodman and its Burger and Lobster sibling must place on suppliers, but a rib eye that I sampled today, whilst very good, did not have the same quality as I recall from my first visit. The burger and chips was very good, the quality of meat used clearly high, but it was not obviously better than at Burger and Lobster. This is still a very good steak house, but it felt a notch less special than it did on my first visit.
You want steak? You CRAVE real STEAK? There is only one answer and that is Goodman. Take this from an American who has eaten his weight in steaks every day of the week and twice on Sundays. There is only one place to get corn fed USDA steaks: Sirloin, Porterhouse, Strip and the sides to go with them as well.
One request I have to make there is that their creamed spinach be prepared with nutmeg and NOT Gruyere Cheese. 86 the cheese, it just does not belong. Make it a point to order the creamy mash, mushrooms and onions.
Some prefer wine with their steak, I stick close to home and go with ice cold beer.
Why the emphasis on USDA corn fed beef? Because, grass fed angus leaves an aftertaste. Call it a taste I rather NOT acquire.
I am asked by countless Americans coming over where they can get themselves "beefed up" and once again the answer: GOODMAN
Am making myself hungry now. This is embarrassing. As I write this review I am drooling.
Goodman found that we just seek: an excellent quality meat, cooked to perfection, which reminded me in some ways the chain of Morton Steak Houses in the USA. That besides this service is impersonal at times, and the tables soientr a little closer, passes the background. If there were not that many tables to try in London, I would stay here again.
The service is impeccable and I would recommend this restaurant purely based on that alone, it made the experience amazingly enjoyable and the atmosphere very enjoyable. I have never tasted a steak this good and I think it will be hard to find one to compare. Not only was it cooked to perfection, but the meat was extraordinary and the sides were mouth watering. Highly highly recommend to anyone I know visiting the UK.
This place was a pleasant surprise as we didn’t expect it to be this good. We had fillets and Australian sirloin and the cuts were cooked to perfection. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and cosy for a nice dinner. Love this place :)
This really was 'good man' 🥩
From the moment we sat down, to the moment we left, we were served with outstanding customer service, steak knowledge & delicious food!
To begin with, we had an espresso Martini, which was the best I've ever had. Strong & flavourful.
Starters**
We had the oysters. This was the only thing I didn't really like. We like oysters fresh and flavourful. But these had a lime dressing, which I felt overpowered the oyster. They were also quite small. (We are huge oysters fans)
We also had the scallops, which were cooked perfectly and went down nicely with the silky smooth squash purree & pine nut butter sauce.
Mains**
There were numerous steaks to choose from, which made it difficult to choose, so we decided to go for 2 different and share. Which was a great idea. They came sliced, ready to eat and cooked perfectly (medium rare).
Sides**
We had truffle chips, which were huge and fluffy with a generous helping of Truffle.
Side Salad, which had lovely big shavings of parmeasan & mushrooms (the sides are huge and well worth getting a couple to share)
As we were there for my 30th birthday, they also bought out a delicious cheesecake to say happy birthday 🍰
Well worth a visit!
Attentive service from the staff throughout and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the meats on offer. Food was absolutely delicious. Quite pricey but it's what you'd expect for a steak restaurant in this location. Really enjoyed our visit and would consider going back for a special occasion.

It is the second time I come here, first experience was with my family straight from Spain, where the meat is unique and they had an unforgettable experience.
Today at my second experience I would like to thank Marta for her amazing care and dedication about the meat explanation. If you love meats, come here and you can also argue about them and find out something that will surprise you as me today.
In house out of menu cuts are just amazing, wine selection has been incredible and Marcos, I think he is one of the somms have done a surprising work to paire my food with it.
Its my third time at goodmans, I would choose this one beforehand Canary Wharf, but both of them are just amazing!
All the best and hope this stays for longer! Recommended to anyone looking for good meats wine and experience with their sharers and couples
Best steak restaurant in London? Definitely up there. It’s not cheap but the service and selection is second to none. The mac and cheese was also fantastic
Another Goodman location that did not disappoint. I have been a frequent visitor at their Canary Wharf steakhouse and had a 10 out of 10 dining experience every time.
Here at Maddox Street, you will find Goodman’s trademark dark wood and leather interior, cosy and comfortable seating, plus all their delicious menu staples - scallops, truffle cheese, mac and cheese, and of course, their huge choice of quality beef cuts.
Our server was very knowledgeable and could speak for hours about the meat choices, qualities etc. Impressive.
You can’t go wrong with a tasty, juicy, marbled, and perfectly grilled ribeye steak. Add a bottle of quality red and great company; you have something to remember for years.
10 out of 10!!!
I’ve been to Goodman City and here, Mayfair, on my events like graduation and birthdays. This was my first time having it as a takeaway since my mum is ill and cant really get out of her bed. She wanted a good steak for her birthday and first restaurant that popped up in my head was here.
First, every steaks, sides and sauces were really amazing. My mum normally only has two or three spoons and stop but she emptied the whole plate this time.
The hospitality here has been always good with the knowledge of steaks from servers so always makes me feel taken care of.
Today, I got emotional when the lady with glasses who took my order and listened to my story (I’m sorry I forgot to ask her name..) went extra mile to make my day.
I will definitely visit again on my next celebration day and hope to see her again, Thank you so much
Amazing restaurant, steak was roasted to perfection! It was so tasty but also tender. Service was great, they explained all the cuts and meat origin and flavour and we also got recommendations for wine that goes well with our chosen steak from the sommelier. The selection of wines is quite extensive.
Went here for my friend’s birthday. Superb experience from start to finish. Excellent service, delicious food and wine and a good atmosphere. Would highly recommend!
This place was magical!
Came here for our last night of our honeymoon and was very impressed!
The steak was delicious, I haven’t had a steak that good in a very long time. The steak was cooked to perfection and all the side dishes were amazing as well
The service from the staff who greeted us and the waitress was unmatched! They were very welcoming and friendly, best service we’ve had from any restaurant by far!
I highly reccomend this place to anyone who loves a good steak or a nice cozy place for a dinner. Fantastic atmosphere!
Thanks to everyone at Goodman Mayfair for making our night very special :)
