Wonderful little spot on a beautiful road just off London fields. Food is of a very high standard and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. Would recommend to everyone. Truly a hidden gem!!

Great little spot on a lovely little strip in havkney, seems pricey but actually amazing value! Wonderful staff and the food was incredible!!! Can't see how they produce such delicious food from such a small kitchen, props to the chefs!!

A few weeks ago I was invited to a wild mushroom dinner at Heirloom restaurant in Crouch End. I'd never been to Crouch End, and I'd only heard in passing of Heirloom, but a quick glance at the online menu convinced me it looked like it could be worth the journey and after briefly panicking about the amount of time it might take to get there (sorry Crouchers, but you are far), then reassuring a friend about the same, we set off.

A no choice four course meal that evolved from a supper club with a menu that changes weekly.  Inventive kitchen, but not everything works.  Also some hiccups in the service.  For a restaurant with only 25 covers there are two people working front of house and three people in the kitchen.  I think they need an extra person in the kitchen maybe at the expense of front of house.  We had a half hour wait between our warm amuse and cold starter.  Otherwise service was very good and knowledgeable about the food.  Just formal enough to get fresh cutlery at every course, but not so formal that they hover over you.

We started with good sour dough and butter.  The butter was flavored with powdered corn that was quite subtle.  Amuse was a successful dish.  A quarter cob of char grilled corn with koji.  That's the fermented rice used to make miso.  Very umami.

The starter was the only dish that didn't work.  Slivers of plain raw mackarel,  shiso granita, thin rounds of radish and lovage sauce.  I couldn't taste the roasted kale oil.  The shiso granita was too sweet for me and the dish needed a savory counter point.  Some soy or smoked mackarel would have given the salty note I wanted.  Also replacing some of the sugar in the granita with vodka (both sugar and alcohol act to prevent granita from freezing too solid) would have improved the dish.

The main on the other hand was very successful.  Pink pan fried slices of lamb neck with tiny cubes of pan fried nduja.  The nduja was from the meaty rather than spicy range of the flavor spectrum for that ingredient.  Crunchy deep fried chick peas were the best chick peas I have ever had.  A blackened charred spring onion was outrageously tasty.  This came garnished with a few leaves, including nasturtium.  Plenty of cool elements in this dish that I want to try reproducing at home.  But deep fried chick peas might be a dangerous splattering mess best left to the proffesionals.

Dessert was burnt cacao gelato.  Grown up taste, being neither too sweet nor too creamy.  Malt rye crumbs added some crunchy texture.  I could have had a little more of the Horlicks caramel, which balanced the slightly bitter cacao gelato.

When you ask for the bill, they bring a complimentary petit four and some house limoncello spiked with rosemary.  Tonight's little treat were warm madeleines.

We are not picky about wine so had a bottle of the cheapest red which was pleasant.  We shared a glass of the cheapest white with the fish course which was beautifully floral.  I strongly recommend the Sicilian white.

A £35 set menu of just four courses challenges the commonly-held misconception that a choice of a large number of dishes is automatically a good thing. Indeed, I saw more than a few potential punters put off by the pint-sized menu. Although the menu changes every week, the small number of courses gives the kitchen little leeway for mistakes – every course has to be a winner to win valuable custom and turn that sceptical punter into a regular visitor, or at least a fan willing to spread the word to others.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Pigdin should have multiple Michelin stars, have been twice and travelled for hours specifically to eat here on special occasions. Cocktails were also incredible. Worth every penny, guests said all other food tastes bland now in comparison to Pigdin.

One of my favourite restaurants in London! The space is quite intimate and cosy. It’s been months but I’m still thinking about their desserts ☺️

A neighbourhood gem, small, intimate restaurant with wonderfully prepared dishes and nice wine list. Located on a quiet road with lots of other great places to eat and drink. The staff are very friendly and super professional. Don’t think twice about making a reservation for dinner, you won’t be disappointed.

I had high hope for Pidgin. The setting and service were lovely, can’t really fault them. My issue was with the food. There were a few stand out dishes, but out of a “9 course” tasting menu with wine pairing, one of the courses was a bland tempura cauliflower and another course was bread and butter. None of it was unpleasant, just the food was disappointing given what what was promised. It’s a good local neighbourhood restaurant, but not a destination restaurant given my experience. I hope they improve, as the setting, atmosphere and service were good.

Lovely place! The staff were lovely and accommodating with our requests ahead of time and the food was so well presented, almost too good to eat! The meal was fabulous and I tried things I would normally steer clear of, I love a good tasting menu. Highly recommended.

Stunning tasting menu!! We absolutely loved our dinner at Pidgin as have wanted to go for years! It's incredibly impressive that the menu changes every week as every bite was a delight. The ambiance is excellent as it felt very intimate and cozy. Service was also brilliant, our waitress explained all the dishes beautifully. Can't wait to go again and try out a new menu on another week!

Having read the reviews on Tripadvisor and Google we were a little hesitant, however we thought it was worth a go as the menu this week sounded so great and we have zero regrets. The menu tonight hit the mark on every single course, the service was impeccable, the drinks delicious (we had the G&T followed by the house wine which was very reasonably priced at £5.5/ glass) Having eaten at a fair few places with stars, I don’t understand why the team doesn’t have one, it was definitely up there for me. Thanks Pidgin team, delicious dinner, and wonderful evening!

Gastronomic creativity at its very best. Each dish is an experiment, sometimes works like heaven, sometimes it lacks something but every time it takes you on a journey of discovery, always surprising you. The bread is simply exceptional, and the chicken liver parfait that goes with it is so light. The cheese mousse desert is so unique and tasty! We also really enjoyed the crumble with the amaretto mousse, so delicious and fresh. The whole meal was like a summery walk in a park. Our only tiny negative was on the truffle shaved chicken and cabbage which needed a twist or a sauce, but as mentioned this is all part of experimentation and the daily menus that constantly adapt. Thank you Pidgin!!!

A few months ago I had dinner at Pidgin and was really disappointed with some bland and really odd dishes, and teensy tiny portions. I contacted the restaurant to let them know we had had a bad experience and they invited me back to try again and have a better experience. We picked a new date at random and last night had an amazing meal. Highlights were an artichoke dish that might be one of the best things I've ever eaten, and roast beetroot that pleased my beetroot hating partner! We had the wine pairing and the wines were all beautiful, we even asked to take a picture of the bottle of one of them as it was so delicious. The team were so welcoming and accommodating and I'd recommend going and if you're not happy just speak to the team. Only thing I would caveat is that this is not a restaurant to go and eat the classics, some dishes are experimental but you're going here to try something brand new!
