Its a fab interior and the food is top quality. I highly recommend for both Brunch and Dinner! Being a local to Islington for 10 years, its priceless to still have an independent restaurant that does this sort of comfort food at affordable prices.
Based on Essex Road lies Meat People – a shabby chic restaurant with tiled ceiling, wooden panelling and steel-framed windows, serving a decent selection of steaks and, as the name suggests, other meats!. The focus is on steak (chateaubriands to share, rib-eye, fillet and bavettes) which are tender and flavoursome. Other mains include baked stuffed chicken, seared kangaroo, lamb rump....
The meat is really at a great quality and the diversity of the sides are can complement the meal really well. The service is ok. Price was 25£ each without any drinks.
Lovely place with retro feeling and very friendly service. I had a rib eye sandwich which was very tasty. The meat and the egg was nicely cooked accompanied with fluffy chips. Would love to come back soon and try other stuff!
Can't wait to go back!. So good - great food, amazing decor and lovely wine
Overall, a very successful meal (the above came to £48.40 without service), and I’d encourage you to go. If I do have a reservation, however, it’s that I don’t know quite who it’s trying to appeal to. Inside it feels like a caff – as indeed it was, and I suspect most if not all of the lovingly-preserved interior is listed anyway, so that isn’t going to change. But the food’s a good notch above that, both in quality and (critically, I think) in price. So it’s proper
The place has very good food, especially the pork and beef sandwiches. Cosy place, good service. Been before to have steak as well, also really good!

Different, but one of the very best beef strogonof dishes I have ever tasted! Definitely worth a try while you are in town. It has a simple, but nice atmosphere as well.
As you walk in… you realize that this place is lovely and makes you feel home.
A casual environment, warm and relaxed.
At the restaurant I ordered their Iberico Pork with potatoes, which was succulent and tasty. The dishes looked freshly made, so I decided to choose also a dessert. As a chocolate lover, I had their chocolate fondant with ice cream and white chocolate sauce. And I must say, it was perfectly made and very soft.
The service was also prompt. In terms of prices, you should expect to spend around 50 £ for two. I would recommend going with a small group of friends.
In 2 words, COZY and DELICIOUS

A cozy meat-lovers restaurant, with some exotic meats to try. The "old" beef and lamb options are mouthwatering! Not only the food you eat is delicious, but the rest of the menu, that you see floating around you towards other tables, is a constant temptation to over order!! This could be a place to go with good friends and at the same time a really romantic date spot.
The food is simply amazing. Seafood starters were great and the portion size is ideal. The Tomahawk 🥩 is a force to be reckoned with, ordered for two and we had to take a break half way to finish it. The service was also great with different members of the service team always checking on us. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic steak.
It was really nice, the place has an unique interior design that I really enjoyed and the food was spot on. A sort of local Argentinian place? Owner is very polite and friendly. I can definitely recommend this place.
Had a great meal here early on a Saturday evening in late April. Small but nice variety of meats. The two we tried were quite tasty and cooked just as ordered. The sides were excellent - uncomplicated and delicious. I found the service friendly and efficient. The place itself has a pretty nice ambiance. Overall, we had a great meal and would be happy to return.
The meat was really great and medium as we wanted it! The service very kind. I suggest this restaurant!
A perfect place to congratulate or do casual gatherings. A grade II listed building, wisely used as a modern restaurant. We enjoyed a great meal in a historically famous building. Not "Angus Steak" but even more classy London flagship restaurant's chefs made our fabulous meal.
The only place I’ve found that does exclusively grass fed meat, which is a MASSIVE plus! The meat was very good, so we’re the starters, and the truffle mash was delicious. Perfect level of truffle. From the meat the iberico pork was my favourite, just spot on. Would recommend coming here if you’re a health conscious meat lover!
Could easily walk past this little place and not think too much about it but it's honestly one of those elusive "hidden gems" of London. Booked here spontaneously tonight after googling steak restaurants in the area - we didn't know what to expect but the reviews looked good. It was actually even better than expected. Best steak I've had in forever, dessert was perfect, even the sides were totally lush. 10/10 food, wonderful service, cozy little atmosphere.
Went for dinner last night and every dish was delicious. We had been recommended here from friends for the steak which was great. We preferred the ribeye over the fillet but the stand out is the empanadas. Easily best Empanadas I have had in UK. Also, the decor is fabulous. I will definitely go back again.
When we walked in the restaurant was calm and chilled (it was hot outside) so immediately made us feel relaxed.
The service was prompt and very professional. The servers were helpful, friendly, polite and ensured we were happy.
The food was great, the side dishes were all high quality and the meat was cooked how we wanted it and tender.
I’d def recommend it and would go back.
If you’re looking for quality food and service this is a good choice.
Delicious food, friendly service set in a chilled atmosphere. The mushroom and cheese empanadas were ooey gooey, the steak was succulent and cooked to perfection. My favourite, and the pièce de résistance was the lemon meringue tart.
