Been to this restaurant a few times and never disappoints, excellent food and service every time. Good selection of drinks too, would highly recommend.

Food is delicious, modern British with a few twists. Had the hanger steak and couldn't have been happier, but everyone else was nothing but complimentary about what was ordered.
Drinks wise, I would advise trying out one of the cocktails to start or finish and explore the wine menu in between. They are more than happy to offer recommendations!

We whent here for an impromptune dinner one evening. The menu was inovative and varied so everyone had something to please them. The waiters, suspected owners, were very attentive and pleasent although they did not seem to be as relaxed as you would expect however they were busy so that might explain this, not that this was a negative. Our food was freshly cooked and very tasty if a little on the pricy side. The only disapointment was the potion sizes, which seemed to be quite inconsistent. my wife had lamb which was piled high and i had phesant which was one small breast. Very tasty but disapointingly small. Had they been a bit more generouse with the veg and nocci i probably would not have minded but at 50 ponds a head i felt a little disapointed.

Never been let down here, always good cooking .. probably the most "serious" restaurant in Balham ( in cooking terms.. It's very casual and friendly) .. Great Sunday lunches amongst other things .. I hope they continue to deliver great food to Balham for many more years!

Finally got around to visiting Lambert’s after living in Balham for a few years. Wasn’t disappointed.
We had the (ridiculously) good value Balham Food Festival set menu. £20 for 4 courses (£35 with matching wines).
We had one meat and one vegan. Both were good.
To start grilled leeks (meat menu) and baked celeriac (vegan menu). The leeks were a bit hard to eat as they were whole. But the flavours were nice. The salt baked celeriac was very tasty with apple.
The 2nd course for both was heritage beetroot, pear purée and pickled red onion. This was my stand out dish of the meal. Absolutely delicious.
The lamb dish was ok. Only ok because the puy lentils were a bit undercooked. The squash Wellington was also ok but a bit underwhelming. This brought my rating down from 5 to be honest. If I could give 4.5 I would.
Both desserts were really nice. My wife found the chocolate pot a bit rich, but I really enjoyed it. The roast plum was also nice.
The service was great. It’s a nice, cosy atmosphere and even on Tuesday it was fairly full and vibrant.
We will 100% be visiting again.

Went to Lamberts for the first time last night, for the Game Tasting menu. Not being a foodie by any means was absolutely delighted with the meal and the chosen wines that accompanied the meal. Nice people, great service and lovely food and wine. Thoroughly recommend and hope to go again soon. Than k you to all the staff for a lovely evening.

I often use this restaurant for family birthdays etc. A very good and varying seasonal menu cooked very well. The wine list is interesting and covers all tastes and budgets. Topped off with very good service.

We came here at the weekend for a 30th birthday lunch. Although we were the only table in the restaurant, we didn't really notice it. The food and wine was delicious and the service was very attentive, all waiters being very friendly and polite. I have to say, however, that we were quite disappointed at the end of the meal. Despite spending over £500 on a 3 course lunch for 10 people, we were told that a homemade birthday cake brought could be eaten-at a cost of £35!!! Outrageous. We let a little miffed and now have quite mixed opinions on Lamberts.

Excellently located close to the tube and next to Firefly (perfect for a few cheeky pre/post drinks). The service is attentive, but not overly so. The food is exquisite and the wine list extensive. The mood lighting is perfect and the ambience suits a small gathering or supper for two. We had a superb meal there last night and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone!

Went here for my sister's birthday and was utterly disappointed by the total lack of service, overpriced and small dishes and blandness of every meal ordered. Even their desserts were terrible! No special fuss made at all for our celebration! We had a 3 course meal and the bill really hurt us at the end. This will be the first and last time they will be seeing us!!

We had dinner last night in Lambert's and it was the final nail in the coffin. We've been before and been unimpressed this time it was just plain dreadful.<br/>1. Each course took over an hour to arrive and the service is charmless.<br/>2. The scallop starter was just that - a single scallop. More like an amuse bouche.<br/>3. The rabbit was undercooked and tough. It was returned to the chef.<br/>4. Our main of the pork loin was 70% unrendered fat - which after sending back the starter was deeply frustrating.<br/>5. Puddings OK but by then it was midnight and over 3 hours for 3 courses is not on.<br/>The restaurant aims to compete with local stars like Chez Bruce, The Dairy and a Trinity and it simply isn't in the same league.

Brilliant - could fault anything. Dined here Friday night, and could not have been more impressed. <br/>Warm welcome at the door, coats taken, seated; quickly offerred drinks and menus..<br/>Varied selection but all consistent and typical good quality British/ French fare. <br/>Presentation and taste: 5 stars - no question, and that's before factoring in the astonishing value. Scallops with Black Pudding cake and the Pork Belly were particularly good and all six of us left impressed having fully enjoyed everything. <br/>Atmosphere was just right; busy but not too noisy with majority of tables being couples. Waiting staff were knowledgeable, attentive and looked pleased to be there too. <br/>For us the experience really did exceed our expectations.

I only come to hear of Lamberts restaurant when I google Sunday roast, raved for it’s roast beef. There have been times when I tried to go on Sunday and found it was fully booked. Lambert is along Balham High road and offers an intimate, friendly service with an ever-changing seasonal very British menu. Starters cost around from £7, mains range from £15-19, and desserts £6 onwards.

Lamberts is a little neighbourhood bistro in Balham, serving good quality French food at bargain prices. They do a fantastic Tuesday to Thursday set dinner menu of £17 for 2 courses or £20 for 3. The menu is refreshed weekly and aims to use local and seasonal produce.

Traditional Sunday roast would be served and you can’t really go wrong with that, something we all enjoy. We had booked beforehand and I had a call a couple of days earlier to confirm it (also an email confirmation at the time of booking) and to ask if there were any children in our group. We were greeted by friendly staff who took our coats from us and showed us to our table. The restaurant isn’t very large, fairly cosy, which is nice and we couldn’t hear other people’s conversations so we didn’t feel on top of other people. Review of Lamberts Restaurant. Extremely disappointing! Had Sunday roast and I must say that the meat was good quality. However, the vegetables were really below standard, especially the Brussels sprouts which were completely uncooked and as hard as marbles. The service was completely lacking in finesse, the position of the tables all in a row, rather uninspiring...<br/>Having read such wonderful reviews of the place (even comparisons to Chez Bruce!!!) I was really keen to try it with my friend - but please, don't make the same mistake - the place is also overpriced.

Best Sunday Lunch in South London. Three excellent courses for £24. What an absolute bargain! A good choice of courses using seasonal ingredients. In my opinion there is no better place in SW London for a quality Sunday lunch. As good a Chez Bruce (if not better). I'll be back next week.

Great Local Restaurant. Balham has sprouted many new eating places in the last few years but this has to be one of the best.<br/>Modern english/european food cooked very well. Staff are very attentive and friendly although the interior is a little starchy but this is a minor critisism. Look forward to going back sometime soon!

A mixed experience.... Some things Lamberts does very well - others are pretty average. I found their meat to be excellently cooked, and not done to death as is so often the fate of a nice steak in London. But on the other hand, everything else on the plate was pretty ordinary and not above diner standard. The most important bit is there, just a shame the rest doesn't quite follow. Also the tables are a bit too crowded together for my liking, which rather precludes an intimate dining experience. Overall quite decent, but not quite up to its price tag.
