Great place with the best desserts that are always made and served freshly with the help of a really nice and friendly staff not to mention the highly prompt and punctual service.
Just stopped in for a quick coffee but love the layout and the vibe on the cafe. The location on a busy street gives light and a great opportunity to people watch. The food menu is limited but looks tasty so hope to come back for the smashed avo. Coffee was great!
I got super lucky that this cute little place was 1 step away from my hotel!
Loved the staff, the simplicity of the menu and of course the breakfast! Can we just talk about the goodness of their poached eggs on toast??? But of course I HAD to add salmon. Going back to the sour dough toast, omg! It had butter all over it: so heavenly and highly recommend it!
Heard so many good things about this place so i decided to give it a try for breakfast. I had the chocolate chip pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup, and the avocado toast. The pancakes are mouthwatering, fluffy and very juicy which i love !! Really nice place, and i love the fact that you pay your food first
Having spent most weekends I lived in London in Trade it was only fitting I returned when I was nearby.Â
Trade is everything you want in a cafe, Â great coffee, quality food, relaxed atmosphere and a lovely deck out the back that catches great sunlight in the summer. The menu is simple, Â personal favourites being the green eggs and ham and the buttermilk pancakes. Any of the sandwiches are also always a hit.Â
As well as the menu items there is an unrelenting array of cake and pastries of which I only ever sampled a fraction of them.Â
Table service only on weekends, weekdays just order at the counter and take your numbered spoon down to your table.Â
Enjoy! I'm already jealous that you're near enough to Trade to be considering dropping in!Â

Trade is, I think, a bit of a localâs secret. I was meeting a friend for brunch (my breakast as I had only just got up, his lunch) and had planned to go to Hotbox but just thought Iâd check out the menu for Trade and suddenly thought I wanted to try that instead. When I arrived I walked right in and was just behind two other people. There wasnât really a queue. Two minutes later and one practically stretched out the door!
Trade does a hell of a lot of things right. It's walkable from the City, it's staff are really lovely and there a pretty sizeable garden area out the back so you can lounge in the sunshine during the stifling summer heat.Â
I went there for lunch with the missus a few weeks back and really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place which pretty much fulfils the blueprint for a nice cafe to sit as catchup. For food, I had a pork and apple burger/sandwich thingy and a beautiful brownie. This pork and apple is the only reason I'm not giving Trade 5/5 because, although good, the sandwich as rather slaw heavy - being the culinary philistine I am, the meat is more important than the veg.Â
Overall though, it's a really nice cafe for a meet up and a meal - will definitely return.
Find this little Gem and be transported into an oasis of gastronomic heaven. It's warm and friendly and a delight to be in. The food is absolutely fantastic, I cannot fault anything they serve. The old saying is 'You Pay for what you Get' well, Trade have gone beyond this, the food is crafted by some very special people and I cannot recommend this place enough.

Super chilled out place for breakfast/brunch with an amazing selection of cakes and other baked sweet treats and a lovely back garden.
I came for brunch here twice and I loved the space as well as the food. Service is a little disorganized - forgetting our drinks, bumping into things, generally not being friendly (which is important when you're still hangover on a Saturday morning :p ).
The sourdough toast though is good, despite a little crispy, and the pancakes are also nice and fluffy American-style.
Would recommend on a sunny morning!
Had a great meeting with AKBoogie last week and enjoyed some of the best coffee I've had in London recently. Also, their lemon and poppy seed cake was a delight!
A must if you're visiting the area or a real treat if you work near there.
I had poached eggs, pancetta and asparagus on sourdough toast, with the obligatory pot of tea. The toast was crisp, the eggs were runny - it's a simple dish, but it was so nice to have something offered up with eggs other than avocado (which I hate, to the horror of quite a vast majority of people). This isn't a place to come for a greasy fry-up, we're not looking at mounds of baked beans and a fried egg cooked in the same pan as the bacon. It's a lighter, yet not necessarily healthier, choice.
Speaking of not being healthy, I couldn't resist ordering the last bread-and-butter-pudding-croissant. As an amateur baker and professional cake eater, I was fascinated as to what this would be like. Slicing into it, you could see the flaky layers of a croissant, but when tasting it it was much more like a bread and butter pudding - surprisingly thick and really delicious. Luckily for me, there weren't any raisins as you would find in the traditional dish, but there were a couple of berries on the top to make me feel slightly less guilty.
Only a stones throw from Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane, Trade on Commercial Street is a secret well worth sharing. Escape the crowds and disappointing sandwiches and head down to see what new cake hybrids they have in store!
Lovely working lunch with Sarah M in the April sunshine. This place is a lovely upmarket cafe with both standard brunchy menu options and daily quiche and salad options. Reminds me a lot of Fleet River Bakery in Holborn, but slightly better. With the better comes slightly higher prices, but also more food. Sarah had the quiche and salad which looked delicious whilst I had fried sour dour with scrambled eggs, chilli and chorizo. Not sure how healthy my choice was, but it was delicious. Well worth a lunchtime visit if in the area.
All across London you see those little blue circles that tell you the significance of the place. Â Orson Welles lived in Notting Hill for many years for example. Â Well if I had my way, years from now there'd be a little sign above the door of Trade that said "The Cuban Club sandwich lived here" so that future generations can know that it was there and it was good. Â It *is* the greatest sandwich in London.
I have now pretty much covered the entire menu now and I can safely say I haven't found a weak link. Â The coffee is superb. Â The cakes are absolutely delicious and are clearly made by someone who clearly enjoys what they are do.
The staff are bright and cheery, the atmosphere relaxed and inviting. Â If I could, I would probably sit in there all day slurping quietly at Flat White after Flat White and feeling very good about myself.
Do not waste your time in "also-ran" sandwich shops. Â Go to Trade - you won't be disappointed.
(I don't work there lol).
This place is like a hole in the wall in one of the not-so-well-developed areas off Whitechapel Road. It would be difficult to notice it if one were walking past. But the inside of the cafe tells a different story. The aroma that greets you once inside is very enticing. The decor is modern and minimalistic, with ample use of wooden benches which are crammed into every which corner of the smallish seating area. This does make life a bit difficult if you are here to spend some time. The food is great though and very american. The pastrami could have been better, but the pancakes were excellent. The latter could be improved by serving it with melted butter and more syrup! The menu is quite well thought out, and I would love to try out the rest of it in subsequent visits. Oh, and I liked the latte in the tumbler, it was a nice touch, and reminded me of how I used to drink tea/coffee back home in India.
Popped to Trade this afternoon with AKBoogie to get our heads down and talk shop, with the added advantage of eating cake while we did so. As you can see, this place has the most ridiculously good looking selection of dessert available ever, and I'm probably going back to try them all over the next week. Detox? Diet? January? Wuuutt? Nah.Â
The free wifi makes it a great place to get your head down and work (password is trade1234 by the way. You're welcome.) and the coffee is spot on, although after 2 americanos in as many hours I'm buzzing all over the place. Their loyalty card is insane as you get a free coffee after just 5 purchases - take that Starbucks.Â
N.B. if you don't have a macbook air, hipster haircut or an addiction to caffeine you're probably not welcome here. Cool kids only.
A very welcome addition to the somewhat lacking coffee scene in our immediate quarters. Is that a controversial thing to have said about Spitalfields? Probably.
Trade comes from a familiar breed. The design ethics to the seating layout - these are things that fit in comfortably within E1 because these are things we have seen before. What's great about this place is that it delivers on all the other fronts too.
Props for the reasonable pricing and genuine service. Am I old school in being appreciative when staff in coffee shops come to check up on you? Again, probably. My friend got a seriously good looking plate of eggs (photos attached) while I went for the porridge with the fruit compote. Being a creature of habit who opts for berry-tasting-things, the plum&apricot combo was something I was wary of. Happy to report that I have been converted. Healthy portion sizes too.
In a nutshell: familiar territory, far better executed than the usual. I'll probably be back more often than they'd like.
Best brunch i ever eat. Quantity is amazing, the presentation looks so good. Really nice table. I already book for next Sunday ! đ
Excellent brunch place with delicious dishes. Choose from egg dishes, grilled cheese, classic sandwiches, buttermilk pancakes and much more. Dog friendly. Cute urban outside space. Buzzy and friendly service.
Ordered oat latte & had the brownies. Latte was fine, brownies bit too sweet but the texture is nice. The baristas were friendly and serve quickly. They have seatings semi outdoor which looks nice. Probably will come back to try another bakeries.
We stopped at The Trade for some dessert and coffee, and were not disappointed. Granted the place was not busy, but service was friendly and fast. We had a very decent brownie and good coffee. That's all we needed.
I come for a lunch as a group of 2. The salmon and eggs dish was not great. In particular, the quality of the salmon was very bad. However, the avocado toast was really excellent, one of the best in London.
Really friendly service and staff. Everyone said hi to us. Seating is nice and there's space outside.
Coffee is OK, not amazing.
I don't write reviews ever. But that was the best breakfast I've ever had.
I had the chorizo chilli eggs and a large cappuccino with plenty of brown sugar.
Taste sensation!
Also served by a lovely friendly lady and the place has a breezy, easy vibe.
Had a very pleasant brunch, enjoying great coffee in a very cozy space.
My partner and I have been their regulars for 8 years, a Ruben was ÂŁ7 back then, itâs now ÂŁ12 Bloody Inflation! But we are still coming here often. Great quality food and service as always. My favourite has to be chicken and bacon club though! Recently I tried their pancake OMG that was sooooo good. From the look to the smell and the texture! The portion is big so you can easily share between two people.
The have this hidden garden which is a plus for brunch on a day with good weather. Lovely open space.
Avoid weekend if you want to have a good experience coz they are always full.
Nice wee cafe/eatery. Friendly staff, outdoor seating area. A bit poncy but quite reasonably priced for London standards. Food was tasty and coffee was good. Outdoor seating patio too for nicer days. Also the âsandwichesâ arenât sandwiches but more like burgers, could probably be made more clear!
Really tasty Pastrami they smoke themselves!! Slightly on expensive side but very tasty!
I had a very good mashed avocado with poached eggs on sourdough bread, however the eggs seemed to be overcooked as they were quite hard inside. We also asked for an extra slice of bread as only one was not enough. The place was very busy when we arrived but we still managed to get a table within 10 minutes which was great. The coffee was really good and the staff very friendly. The vibe of this place is really cool.
Cozy place for a brunch but prices are a bit too high.
Service could be more attentive, we asked for tap water but we had to remind them.
Competition in the area is strong so not sure if itâs the best spot.
Quality food and excellent service. The restaurant has the usual cool contemporary industrial interior with an open extension to a decked area. We were quickly found a table during Saturday lunch. Needless to say from the photo my Rueben was amazing with the best Pastrami I've tasted. Very friendly staff and bar manager at a fair price.
Little hidden gem in Aldgate East, a stroll away from Spitafields Market. It was full of locals and for all the good reasons: the food was exceptional. In full honesty we were expecting sandwiches but turned out to be the softest brioche buns ever which canât really complain about. The place was really crowded so the service was struggling a bit but completely understandable. I loved the atmosphere and would definitely go back for their cakes that we didnât get to try.
Utterly delicious pastrami and turkey brioche sandwich. I don't know what the sauce was, but it was so good. And you won't eat again for the rest of the week, it was so filling! Coffee delicious too. Absolutely lovely staff. Will return to try the brunch.
Never gets old! Get getaway from the hustle and bustle. Great people and food service with a smile. Food is on point. It just got real. Rain or not, it hits the spot.
The menus they created are basically exceptional. I would love to visit more often to taste the all menus. I highly recommend char shu pork belly with cornbread. Also the chorizo egg scrambles is also tasty. Worth to visit more than twice!
