Best indian food to have in london. Nice ambience and quick service. Also the staff is very polite including the manager
Located in a nice alley behind hamleys. The wait was around 1 hour at 12:50 pm so we did the waiting. Post that we got a nice table with a lot of delicious smelling dishes zooming around. Our server was kind enough to explain the menu. I got the house black dal and garlic naan. The dal and the naam were made to perfection. I also got the house Tea (chai) which is made exactly like the street side Chai made in every corner of India. I loved the aura and the food. Worth the price we paid.
The food was really great, especially for those that like Asian food that's not too spicy. It's a great place to go with a group and share different plates. The service was exceptional; went on a rainy day and they provided those in the queue with drinks and umbrellas. Be prepared to wait a while though (1 hour +), but once you're in you're well looked after.
Absolutely great place to have a variety of choices that satisfy all tastes at reasonable prices, optimal hygienic conditions and with a very nice and professional staff as well.
My favourite place in London to have Indian snacks. Being a vegetarian I can count on many dishes from the menu which I order all the time I visit, doesn't matter which branch you are visiting, these guys how to maintain the same taste across all the places. Dishes I liked the most - Okra fries, Pav Bhaji, Bhel, Vada Pav, Keema Pav and Jackfruit Biryani.
Excellent experience.
Visited Dishoom quite a bit lately because it’s such a nice experience and the team at the Covent Garden base make a point of remembering who you are. Every experience has been consistent in terms of excellent food (tasty, decent portion sizes, spot-on temperature, nice tableware), customer service (friendly host, server, bar-person), value for money and ambience.
A server accidentally spilled something on my friend’s jacket and was immediately on the case to resolve the concern. The host swung by straight away to handle the situation and explained the process where they’d pay the cost of dry cleaning. Very impressed by the swift response to this and felt at ease afterwards to continue enjoying our meal.
I’d book ahead if you can because waiting times can vary (between 15mins to an hour). They offer free masala tea for those who wait in queue, which is a nice touch.
It’s very noisy so be warned 😀
I've been to about 7 of these around the world and this one was pretty standard. Nothing outstanding and nothing bad.
In general for pub crawls the best recommendation I can give is to come on time to the first Bar/ meeting point and get to know your Crawl mates since arriving late will make it difficult to get to know the rest of the "Crawlers" 😎
Absolute joy to have indulging filling platters at reasonable prices, optimal hygienic conditions and with a really friendly and professional staff not to mention the prompt and punctual service as well.
Good restaurant but horrible waiting time.
Must try maa ki daal
Landmark spot for some incredible Indian food! Each dish we had was better than the last. Service was good and price was fair.
Since this spot is so well known you'll need to book a reservation weeks in advance or be prepared for a lengthy standby line. But it's all worth it!
Great place for Bombay style Indian cuisine. Service is excellent, lines are quick and no hassle. Place was recommended to us as must visit in London and it truly stands.
Worth to note that cocktails are at level of the food, I can recommend old fashioned especially.
As we entered into this big two story restaurant, during lunch time, we noticed how efficiently the staff was working. Like a well oiled machine, it didn’t matter how many people they were serving, they were very attentive and quick on picking up the dirty dishes and bringing new set of dishes and silverware. The menu offers delicious Indian food that is unlike any run of the mill restaurants we’d seen before. The portions are small and perfect for sharing, if you and your company want to try different dishes in one seating. Delicious spices and flavors, that entice any palette. An extremely busy restaurant, with an extremely good system in place. By the way, I would highly recommend their freshly baked naan. This was definitely one of the best Indian restaurants we’ve ever been too.
Being a big consumer of Indian restaurants in Paris I was curious to discover the famous Dishoom. Quite simply the best Indian restaurant of my life, the decor, the atmosphere, the very varied menu, the quality service, the speed and obviously the tastes. If you pass through London you must come and eat here. As beautiful as it is delicious, an excellent culinary journey.
Fantastic quality of the food and service. Alberto was very prompt and efficient. I would also like to mention manager Helena she was very friendly and had a good chat with us. It felt so nice that the vibe and environment of this place is tremendous. They have big space so they can fit a lot of people. Food was very authentic. They have really nice drinks. They also do superb desserts highlight of that will be the chocolate pudding with chilli ice cream. I know it doesn't sound great, but this will blow your mind away.
A great place for brunch. Interesting and long menu. House chai is a must try, especially on a typical cold and wet London day. The decor is as close as one gets to the colonial days in South East Asia.
Overall, this place is really good! Most if not all of the plates are small and you’re meant to order a bunch of different ones to share. Our favorite dishes were the chilli chicken, house black daal, and chicken ruby along with the garlic naan and cheese naan. There’s usually a long line but it moves quick, and they serve free chai/drinks while you wait!
Superb Indian food! Perhaps the best Indian restaurant in London! Great varieties on the menu, super authentic style, decoration and atmosphere just perfect! On top you get authentic Indian Thums-Up Cola 😁! Everything is prepared freshly, if you tried Naan here, you will not be able to tolerate half-baked attempts anywhere else. As expected we were not the only ones to discover their excellence, even at midday the place was fully booked. The waiters were hardly able to manage the masses, orders took really long, it required three friendly request and 25 minutes (!) until the rice for one of our main courses arrived - but no spoons (!). I am not sure if we were supposed to eat butter chicken by hand, so we asked for spoons. Five minutes later the waiter came along and planted a bucket of cutlery on our table, which contained knives, forks, but NO SPOONS! So we asked again (No „oops“, no „sorry“), and after further 10 minutes two spoons were provided. The main course was cold at that time, but that did not concern anybody from the staff. In summary: Best-in-class Indian cuisine, do remember to make a reservation at any time, and don‘t expect the waiter to be your friend 😉.
We had a beautiful lunch here for our graduation meal and our friends birthday 🎂.
The waitress was lovely and sorted us out with individual bills and a desert for our birthday friend. The food was delicious and we were all really happy with our food and the service 😁 we will definitely come again xx
You need to wait atleast 1 hr outside the restaurant to get in, they offer masala chai to everyone standing in the queue which is a nice offer on my opinion.
Food: is pretty descent. You get not so big portions though so order accordingly. taste is also very close to authentic so it's nice
Atmosphere: Can get too loud sometimes because it is pretty crowded restaurant so not something if you are looking for a quite or chill time.
Staff is pretty friendly and helpful.
