A tiny place but it sure is busy. Was lucky to get a seat on a Friday walk-in. Ordered their special Haddock fish/ chips with curry sauce. It comes with peas dip and mayo. The fish is very fresh and the chips are good. The dips/ sauces can be avoided. So, ideally just order the fish and chips separately. And they have a very good stout! I had the strawberry based dessert - can be avoided. Their other desserts get over quickly.

The BEST Fish and ship in london and The BEST I had ever try.
Very good food, tasteful and very delicious.
Friendly stuff, cozy place with a small bag of candy And worm goodbye in the end.
I loved all the menu every thing I had order I enjoyed it and blowed my mind.
Very lite fried fish not to oily and great crunch .
Recommended it for all seafood lovers, full with fish but not fishy.

Beautiful environment, gorgeous decor, nice people, delicious and tasty food.
First time in London and I found the Mayfair chippy by recommendation of a local friend who had never tried it herself but swore it was so nice looking it had to be good...
IT WAS DEFINITELY TRUE!
If you go there ask for the classic menu of fish and chips! The cod was so incredibly tender and crust so golden, the chips were huge and well tempered and I don't know how to start talking about the 3 souces!
In the end it was divine ✨
Be sure to look for Ana if you are Portuguese! She is the best 👍🏻

From the name, you could be mistaken for thinking that you were arriving at a takeaway when going to The Mayfair Chippy. But don’t be alarmed, this is quality food well-cooked by expert chefs. Fish is very much at the heart of this restaurant, but alongside it comes excellent service that makes you feel both valued and at home. Great!

To start our lunch, my friend and I went for the crisp salmon crackling with dill & mustard, six Carlingford rock oysters, steamed mussels served with sourdough bread and the Dexter salt beef fritters with creamed horseradish & pickles. We shared everything so could get a taste of all that was on our table. The food was cooked to perfection and compliments to the chef!

There was only ever going to be one main course in a place like this. As you look around the restaurant and see those little design flourishes that make it feel like a high-end chip shop ramped up to the maximum, the fried cod, chips, mushy peas, tartar & chip shop curry sauce becomes the only possible choice for a main. And so it was. This was excellent, a real treat against some of the lesser fish and chip offers on the market.

Unlike your local chippy, there was a good selection of desert and we went for the warm chocolate pudding, salted caramel Ice cream & cinder toffee and grabbed a spoon each. The food was as good as the attentive service and we both left filled and happy for the rest of the day.

I consider myself a connoisseur of fish and chips so I can say with authority that the Mayfair Chippy will deliver on a satisfying lunch. The restaurant has an inviting interior and we were lucky enough to book in advance, as we saw many people being turned away; this place became quite busy for a Sunday lunch. We ordered a mayfair classic and a shephards pie, both of which were generously served and delicious. The majority of the points lost in this review were second to the price, which even in the context of the restaurants location seemed to be on the far end of fitting.

The Mayfair Chippy is a bit of a deviation from the old beaten path of classic fish and chip shops, boasting a trendy decor and nice central location. Prices are set to match this, and will exceed those of your local chippy by a moderate amount. However, the Mayfair Chippy does deliver quality, with both our fish and chips and shepherd's pie delivered fresh, piping hot and tasting great. Topping off the hipster feel, sauces are served in miniature saucepans set in a wooden board. Service was fairly prompt and polite, but around lunch it did fill up, so booking a few hours ahead is advisable. All in all a nice joint and worth a visit if you're in the area.

The best place to have the Classic fish and chips at. The place wasn't crowded when I arrived for lunch in the afternoon, which I quite liked.

Went to this nice tiny restaurant to try their "fish & chips" since its all over their board.
once i went in it was no signal, but then they have wifi which is great.
we ordered
•cod fish n chips and hadock fish n chips: both fish were so big, everything taste good but for me its nothing special.
•fried scampy: also good but its nothing special either.
•hot chocolate: good but you can get the same taste in supermarket, i thought the taste was going to be 'special'
•warm chocolate melt: this is the highlight menu. ITS SO GOOOD!! i love it

overall cute place, good dish but nothing special..

Brunch with my mates. Me and my mates had a fantastic “day after” brunch here last week. We came in seven of us and was seated very comfortably in the back of the restaurant. I had a “Full English” with poached eggs and 2 Bloddy Mary’s. Super GrEAT! My friends had smoked salmon and porridge, it was just amazing. The team and the kitchen are small just as this little place in the heart of Mayfair. Great location and value and the sweetest waitresses... I will definitely be back very soon and try their A la carte menu. Thank all of you there, you made my day!

Wonderful experience! We loved every bit. We did a bit of a side by side taste test of the cod vs haddock. IT came with all the proper fixins and everything was amazing. When we first got there and saw the whopping line around the corner we figured it was going to take forever to get sat and almost didnt wait but we only had to wait maybe 15-20 min. Our Server, Aura from Italy was wonderful as well!

Perhaps the best fish and chips I’ve had! Tasty, totally crispy (crust and fries), and the mushrooms were top notch crispy too. Good wines by the glass. It was £22.50 for the meal, not bad (for London). I strongly recommend making a reservation!!! Although it was well worth the wait, nearly an hour on line was tough on the feet. Service was great, friendly, efficient and helpful.

I opted for the traditional Cod, accompanied by all the classic trimmings. Every bite was a comforting embrace – the fish, impeccably fried, boasted the ideal balance of crispy batter to succulent fish. Paired with perfectly cooked chips and complemented by curry sauce and tartare, it was a culinary journey through British tradition. While mushy peas aren't my personal favorite, they sat on the plate looking as authentic as one could expect. The bustling ambiance was a testament to the restaurant's popularity. By 5:30 pm, a queue had formed and tables were full. Fortunately, our foresight to book in advance paid off. With the theatre as our next stop, we were pleasantly surprised by the swift service, ensuring we enjoyed our meal without feeling rushed. Mayfair Chippy not only satisfied my Fish and Chips craving but secured a spot on my must-visit list for future London trips.

If you go to London, at some point you’re going to want fish and chips; this is the place to go. Suggested by our cab driver, the food here was amazing and the tartar sauce was delicious. Unfortunately, the service was not good and is the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars. There were very few people taking orders and you could tell those working were stressed. The restaurant itself was also very cramped. If you don’t have a reservation, you’ll most likely end up at a little, cramped bar area instead of an actual table, which may have contributed to a poor experience. They also mixed up our order with the folks sitting next to us at the bar, but they fixed it immediately. The Classic was about £23 and a large portion, easily shareable if you don’t eat a lot between two people. Our cab driver mentioned that the line is often out the door as well. We were there around 1900 and the line was starting to form. I would highly recommend The Mayfair, but I recommend a reservation for the best experience.

4.5. Faultless Fish & Chips. I booked this restaurant to enjoy lunch on a day trip to London primarily as I am Gluten free and heard the Gluten free Fish and chips are fab, and they were! Portions large, not greasy at all, not salty either. Delicious. Service was great and attention to dietary requirements was much appreciated. Make sure you book in advance and although it’s not cheap, it’s worth it. Two minor points of improvement, my table had a very strong smell of cleaning products/ air freshener. I was in the restaurant early so perhaps area had just been cleaned but it was a bit off putting. Also at 1230 the toilets were out of toilet paper (Luckily I didn’t need it !)…perhaps customers stole all the rolls but I doubt it…. Overall a great restaurant. Thanks

The food is great, but crowded and lacks aircon. Definitely make a reservation. The fish was super good. The breading was thin and the haddock was tasty and juicy. A bit crowded, and not for a hot day - no AC. The service was great and the prices were reasonable. Definitely recommend.

I chose this place to have lunch on my birthday, being a big fan of fish and chips. A quick tip: make sure to book in advance to avoid a 30-45 minute wait in line. However, a gin & tonic helped us make the wait more enjoyable! The food was incredibly delicious, making the visit truly worthwhile. I highly recommend this place – a must-visit spot!

Visit London only to taste the original Fish & Chip. This restaurant didn’t make me disappointed. The Michelin some years ago was totally worth. The restaurant only drawback is the portion is to big for me, but it’s ok. You should book a table before coming, otherwise you will be placed on a much less convenient table there.

This for me was the best fish and chips I've have ever eaten. I've had fish and chips in Brighton, Manchester, London and a few other places accross the UK and the level of quality is in a league of ots own. The batter was perfectly crispy and perfect in terms of flavour and texture. The chips were perfectly fried and maintained their crispness even after adding lots of salt and vinegar. The tartar sauce was home made and was so creamy and had a perfect balance of ingredients. This fish and chips is perfect and can't fault it at all. I don't think it can get any better than this. This sets a new bench mark and was truly love at first bite!

First of all be prepared to wait on line unless you book a table ahead!!! They have the best fish and chips AND the best GLUTEN-FREE fish and chips anywhere! Don't forget to have a wonderful cider too! The manager worked harder than anyone I've seen but he is so very efficient and super friendly.
