I was brought up absolutely never to boast, show-off or name drop. It was considered quite ungracious and simply not the done thing, and I have passed this ethos onto my own children too. And yet, I am going to start off this blog post doing just that, not even discreetly but by the shedload, because I just can’t contain how privileged I feel at being long-standing good friends with interior designer extraordinaire, Charles Rutherfoord. best polish restaurant. i recommend the tatar as a starter followed by pork cheeks in homey mustard sauce with herbal vodka to sip during the entire meal.

Simple Interiors. Wonderful Service. Excellent range of Vodkas (my favourites were the hazelnut & the eggnog)

Lovely heartwarming food. The way it was served, by the Chef at our table (the pierrogi & the Roast Duck) was like dinner theater and a meal served by a loving mum / aunt - all rolled into one.

Love this place, will keep going back

A really great restaurant with traditional polish food. If you’re polish and home-sick, this is a good place to visit. If you’re not, but want to try something else and eat in a great atmosphere you should come to Daquiste too.
The restaurant is located in South Kensington, minutes away from the tube. Its very cosy, with dim lights and very friendly staff.

I’ve invited my friend, as she never had polish food before. We were trying not to eat for the whole day, arriving very hungry. For starters we ordered the traditional Borsch soup (clear beetroot soup with dumplings), and some Bigos, with both dishes being delicious. For mains we got the Duck with cranberry and mashed potatoes, Venison with Potato Dumplings and beetroot salad and Veal in White Wine sauce. You could definitely taste that all the products used were fresh, and we were happy (and stuffed) at the end of the meal.

Daquiste has a very interesting way of serving all the food, with the chef coming out with all the pots, and together with the waiter putting it on the plates in front of you. It adds a little something to the meal, and it’s nice to talk to the chef.
From a gluten-free point of you, once I asked for what’s gluten free I was surprised with the wide choice range, which was a very positive surprise.
I definitely recommend coming to Daquiste to everyone, especially if you want a place which combines good food and a relaxed atmosphere.

A meal that takes you back in time. It's been there for years - ask the maitre d' for exactly when and he'll puff out his chest and tell you - and used to feed Polish spies during the 2nd world war. Now you'll dine amongst 21st century homesick London
Poles, artists and beautiful bohemian families. Meat dumplings, cheese dumplings, vegetable dumplings, roast goose, borscht, smoked herrings with sour cream and onions.
Great value house wine, and delicious vodkas, steak tartare (they make it in front of you - which makes it taste even better - a real theatre-piece), livers in chocolate sauce, stuffed Polish eggs. Feels like you're in someone's house. Staff are fantastic. This place has more character than anywhere else in London in my opinion.

Delicious food! I was very satisfied with the food here.. For starters I tried the delicious potato dumplings! 10/10 The veal schnitzel was delicious !!10/10 My friend’s pork escalopes didn’t excite me. The sides such as cabbage, mashed potatoes and beetroots were also very tasty!! Desserts were all 10/10 with the crepe being one of the best!!!!

As a polish person I give this restaurant 10/10 rating, the food is as authentic as it can be. Kitchen and the wait staff are Polish and the waiters staff are very attentive. I cannot recommend this place enough to other people. Very pleasant experience.

I met one of my oldest friends who is Polish here, after I said I wanted some of his culture's food with him suggesting Daquise. As soon as I walked through the door you are immediately transported out of London, the decor and ambience give you that experience you wanted from seeing someone else's post. The menu consists of some classic Polish dishes done extremely well, and this is backed up by the amount of Polish people that choose to eat here too. If you want a great experience of Polish cuisine, come here and you will definitely feel more than satisfied!

My parent’s favourite spot and one of mine. I used to walk past here on the way to work over 5 years ago. Never did I notice it but now it is my go to when in the area. A time warp where no frill yet everything is carefully considered. Don’t think the interior has changed yet it feels refreshing to step inside. Food that is humble and filling yet sour and crisp.

Not been here for a while but hasn't changed the food is still excellent and staff great. Very rustic wholesome polish food. The thing that annoys me is the service charge thats added everywhere included here but not passed onto staff.... come on. When I said i would not pay the service charge (optional) but give in cash to the staff as a tip, the look of fear and cant do that the owner wont be happy was the reply... Really its 2023 not 1823.

Very nice place next to South Kensington station. The two waitress ladies are super cute and thoughtful. It's recommended to reserve a table in advance as the place is very popular. The confit chicken with lemon sauce and the salmon are outstanding. It was a pleasure to be here I totally recommend this place.

Historic Polish restaurant opened in 1947. It is great place for polish dishes with amazing selection of vodka served in ice cold shot glasses. It is one of the oldest place where Soviet spies used to meet up during the Cold war days. I am no expert of Polish food. Zurak and dumplings are highly recommended. I tried different fillings, but they can be spicy with distinctive flavour. I liked it but the taste were bit too strong for little kids who are not used to Polish tradition. They also have seasonal menu which are interesting. Felt like a nice French bistro style place with interesting twists. The staffs are very friendly and the place is fairly spacious. You can bring kids. I'd definitely go back when visiting museums or concerts nearby. I think zurek on a cold winter day with shot of flavoured vodka will be great.

Having had visited many years ago it was great to go back. The service and atmosphere were as good as I remembered, and the food was tasty. A minor criticism would be that the veal meatballs and bread were on the dry side, but overall we had a delightful dinner. We’ll be back for more.

Great place. Have eaten here twice. Most recently for lunch after a visit to the nearby science museum. The restaurant has a nice old-world feel to it. The food is tasty across the board. Quite reasonably priced for the most part, especially considering the location. Friendly enough service. Accommodating of kids. Definitely worth a visit.
