I love this place. Great vibe and great venue. I like the interior of the place and enjoy my stay there. I love their Jumbo Beef Short Rib. Cooked for 12 hours with a BBQ glazed, it melts in your mouth. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I recently tried their Chargrilled Shrimp Jambalaya and I liked it alot. The sauce is perfect for the dish. Im giving it a 4 and not a 5 because last time the service was a little bit poor and felt kind of rushed the whole time. Highly recommended.
If you want to go to a bar as locals in London, this's the right place! We had really enjoyed our time and live jazz music at the Blues Kitchen. Coctails are also so delicious
Damn. That was delicious! Deep flavour from the Deep South came to London for the finale of The Blues Kitchen Brixton’s Rib Fest with a sold out, one night only feast of epic proportion. In town from the States to man the grill were the award-winning keepers of the low and slow flame: Home Team BBQ. I was mightily glad to have managed to slide in for a taste of the action and reckon I enjoyed some of the best BBQ I’ve had since October 2015 when I had a chance to visit the Home Team fellas on their own turf of Charleston, South Carolina.
With branches in Shoreditch and Camden, The Blues Kitchen opened their doors in Brixton a few months ago on the site of former Bar Electric Social. I was surprised when Electric Social originally closed as it always seemed to draw a crowd at the weekends, but having seen the re-designed venue I’m glad it did.
Bagged a table for the launch evening and overall impression is that the Blues Kitchen is a very welcome addition to the Brixton restaurant and bar scene. A large crowd were in for the opening night and there was a tremendous buzz about the place. A large space downstairs, which has been nicely renovated and highlighted some of the decorative Victorian era features. The staff were most welcoming and ably assisted by management who were clearly keen to ensure that any early hiccoughs were kept to a minimum and that customers were attended to at very regular intervals. The meat platter was a carnivores treat and the hot wings perfect. Really zingy!! We will be returning soon and on the next occasion to also enjoy some live Blues music as we had to leave before the sets began.
First experience at eating in this local establishment. The place was absolutely buzzing, stunning interior for restaurant. Moving to the food. We had Popcorn squid which was amazing, not soggy, light and flavourful, the buffalo chicken wings to die for! Our cocktails beautifully prepared.
Love the look of the staff, which helps.
We had the Double cheeseburger and Eib of pork which melts in your mouth.
Will definitely go back for more.
I visited here with my friends during the Bank Holiday weekend in August. The overall atmosphere of the place was fantastic, breathing life into soul, jazz, and rnb music with their live bands and DJ sets. The venue is split into two floors, one having the live music and the other being a much more chill environment. It's air-conditioned, which is great in such packed spaces. I cannot comment on the food here as I came for the live music, but I look forward to testing it out in the future. The toilets did leave something to be desired, but as it was a busy venue, there were no surprises there. I did struggle with the pricing but nothing out of the ordinary for London. In addition, during our visit, one of my friends was quite intoxicated (it happens to the best of us), and the staff were lovely at handling it. They approached some of the more sober friends and asked us if our friend could leave. They were not pushy or aggressive and handled it with amazing courtesy and politeness, which is something I cannot say for other establishments. Overall, it was a great experience and will be returning in the future!
Chaotic, noisy, vibrant atmosfere. I loved the place. Lovely restrooms too 😅
Food was OK, a bit on the greasy side. Drinks amazing. Great place for a night out!
First time trying blues kitchen I’ve heard a lot about it and honestly, it did not disappoint! Upon entry you could smell the sweetest, smokiest bbq 😍😍😍
My top recommendations:
Cheeseburger spring rolls
Cornbread
Bbq rib with the salad (the salad is AMAZING !)
Music was good, drinks could be stronger service was pretty slow and we had to call out for attention and even go up to them a couple times.
Overall I would recommend this place and I would definitely go back
This bar is cool I love the food and service but the drinks is expensive ( they might say it's London ) but in the same area's PUB and Resto is less. However, I still recommend this place for eating purpose if you don't mind the noise.
I wanted to experience a bit of Brixton and stopped in for a local IPA a bourbon and a burger. This place has charm for days and is a really cool space to hang with friends whilst enjoying a beer and tasty food and an extensive whiskey menu. I had a Blantons Gold with my dish. There are Cajon dishes, fried chicken, cornbreads and plenty of subtle atmosphere. On weekends and most nights they jam some live music to complete your night.
My bar staff were both cool and welcoming and when in London again I'll be certain to return.
I went to see Acantha Lang here, and she was excellent. I can't say anything about the food because I only had a drink here. However, the venue looks pretty cool, with the paintings of famous jazz/blues performers on the walls (not quite sure why Elvis is up there, though). The drink I had was really expensive - £6.10 for a 330ml can of cider.
It was pretty amazing with the amount of food!
Great banter with the waitressing staff. Drinks and cocktails were very good.
The food was superb. We couldn't finish all of it.
Great live music venue with cocktails and food. We tried the beef short ribs to share and the brisket sandwich. The ribs plate was amazing. Tender and tasty meat, great sides dishes. Only downside was the service at the entrance, very slow. We were asked to wait for 20 minutes at the bar as we had no booking for dinner however most of the tables were free. We managed to not wait any further by talking directly to the waitress.
I visited here on a Saturday evening and it was very busy and lively.
There was a large group of us so we were seated in the private dining area and ordered off the set menu.
The food was absolutely delicious, I couldn’t fault it and the portions were plentiful, everyone left with full bellies. The cocktails were tasty and made well and there was a good selection. The service was wonderful, our waiter Dave always coming and checking if everything was okay and that we had enough drinks. It was my sisters birthday and he made her feel so special, it was great.
The interior is beautifully decorated and music was great too.
The live music room was so energetic and the music definitely represented soul.
If you’re after a good night out, I definitely recommend Blues Kitchen!!
