Ooooh yes, Nopi is right up my street. Well, not exactly geographically speaking, since it involves a bit of a trek from where I live into the West End, but as much as I moan and groan at having to make my way by public transport into the crazy anthill in the city centre, once I’m there, it all turns out to be very worthwhile indeed.

Read the great reviews re their shakshouka egg dish. It was very good - plenty of tomato and good balance of spices with the eggs.

Surprise finding for us though is the pain au chocolat - so so flaky, buttery and good insertion of chocolate.. so so so yummy!!

Coffee (latte) though was average..

NOPI is an Ottolenghi restaurant with food inspired by the Middle East and Asia. NOPI serves breakfast, lunch, pre-theatre and dinner menus. I visited this Soho restaurant for breakfast a while back and fell in love a tiny bit. From the moment you walk in its a breath of fresh air. The whole dining area is so simplistic, modern and clean. I just loved the white marble and wooden/gold combinations. NOPI contains two floors, the upper one being quite formal and the lower floor quite casual.

Brilliant Mediterranean Soho joint with the best customer service! We ordered nearly everything on the menu to share and it didn't disappoint. I especially enjoyed the beef fillet, the venison, the burrata and the valdeon cheesecake. Our server was great and apologised for not spacing out our veggie dishes (hadn't noticed, to be honest) and brought us some amazing smokey chard to have with our meat dishes, on the house!

The meal itself added up to quite a bit, but it was well worth it!

I have been wanting to go to NOPI for a while, Yotam Ottolenghi restaurant in Soho. A brasserie with Middle East and Asian Flavours. Open all day, bright white with bricks and tiles with brass lamps decor, downstairs a big communal table looking the open kitchen.

Everything at the Ottolenghi delis and restaurants is based around a philosophy of serving heart-warming, delicious food that is bold and different without veering too far into the fine dining sphere. It's a philosophy that diners around the world adore.

Nopi is a London institution – it has been around for a while and it is the sit-down version of Ottolenghi’s casual grab and go outposts. Their vibe is casual and more suited for lunch than dinner in my opinion with the all white and bright decor. Their food is fresh and delicious, and most of it is pre-prepared and comes out very quickly. Their savory cheesecake made to order, warm and gooey is dreamy!

Some places make it clear that they intend to impress – from the ritzy Bob Bob Ricard to the elegant Gilbert Scott – and Nopi is right there with them. The way you are greeted warmly at the entrance, the white marble interior and the moody lighting seems to provoke enough of an atmosphere for this place to be packed.

As soon as I entered NOPI in Soho, I couldn’t help but smile. The restaurant was filled with happy chatter, golden light washed through the large windows into the bright white space and in front of me were large platters of multi-coloured salads, huge crusty loaves and fresh flowers.Just look at that golden cauliflower, succulent aubergine and the jewel-like pomegranate seeds. Are you smiling too? NOPI is part of the Ottolenghi brand, but unlike its deli-style sister restaurants, it’s a little more formalised and brasserie-like with no take away counter and a restaurant upstairs with a less formal communal dining room downstairs. The restaurant was decked out floor to ceiling in white with a few pretty organic touches such as the bark-like side table, light wood furnishings and just a touch of gleaming gold in the fittings. A relaxing space filled with people sharing vibrant food, sipping cocktails and enjoying a chilled out weekend.Though a true blog addict never takes time off.

Went here for a Saturday lunch with some of my girl friends. It was truly an amazing experience. We ordered small plates for sharing & sampling - trout with koji rice was one of the best dishes amongst what we ordered. If you like savory cheese dishes, do try the Valdeon cheescake with pickled beetroot. Our cocktails looked as amazing as they tasted. The head chef Ramael Scully is well known for bringing Asian twist to the Ottolenghi kitchen. You can find some of his amazing recipes on their website or buy Nopi's cookbook. The decor wasn't anything spectacular. Tables were placed very close to each other with not enough room to walk. But that however is compensated with amazing food plates that come your way. Oh yes, do visit the washroom. It's all covered with mirror and seems like a crystal maze.

Nopi is placed in trendy Soho and sure matches the hood. White screed, wood and brass creates a clean yet warm and stylish interior. True to Ottolenghi the mesh between Middle Eastern & contemporary creates the most beautiful food. Exploding with flavour and classically plated.

I was really excited about visiting Nopi and my food experience was so fabulous (service leaves a little to be desired, but I'll forgive as the fodder was so impressive). Their Bloody Mary is highly recommended. I had the pork belly to start (it is definitely one for sharing as the portion was big), the tuna for main with a side of brown lentils, topped off with the most divine gingerbread pudding with celery sorbet. I threw in a limoncello on top too. Without a doubt, I'll return!

Nopi opened in Soho in 2010 to a great reception, and rightly so. It was an extension of the Ottolenghi chain of delis by Yotam Ottolenghi who is famous for his uniquely innovative blend of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Asian cooking. Nopi gave Ottolenghi a presence in Soho, but it also made his delightful food accessible to a wilder audience.
I visited Nopi in June 2011, several months after it opened and loved it. Little has changed in terms of the restaurant’s décor or design. Nopi is split over two floors. The ground floor is white throughout with individualised tables, and the basement plays home to sharing tables with views of the open kitchen. The menu still holds true to Ottolenghi’s original and inventive fusion of Mediterranean, Asian and Middle Eastern cooking, and along with the main size plates, there are a number of sharing options and plenty of choices for vegetarians.

A dish of seared scallops (£13.90) was pleasant on the palate and worked well with the sweetness of a delica pumpkin puree and some savoury, crunchy red chicory. The scallops were a touch overcooked however and slightly tough, but otherwise this was a good dish.

Conceptually, a sweet potato salad with burnt aubergine yoghurt and pomegranate seeds (£8.90) should have worked. However it fell short on the delivery. This was meant to be a room temperature dish, but the salad had then been refrigerated and was therefore limp and cold. So instead of tasting freshly cooked it tasted as if it was a day old. This could have been a wonderful salad, but only had it been served freshly prepared and at the right temperature.

A dish of venison paired with caramelised yoghurt, blackberries and peanuts (£13.90) was gorgeous. The meat was tender, succulent, beautifully cooked and full of flavour. It worked beautifully with the creaminess of the yoghurt and the tangy sweetness of the berries. The final touch was a garnish of peanuts that added a lovely crunchiness to this dish. This was a superb plate of food which tasted as good as any produced in a fine dining restaurant.

Tea-smoked lamb cutlets (£24.90) were delicious and tender, but it was difficult to detect any smokiness in the lamb. The accompaniments of jalapeno salsa and miso aubergine were a good fit for the lamb, although the aubergine puree was a touch too tangy.

A side serving of brown lentils with crispy shallots (£6.20) came flavoured with some aromatic cumin and exotic berbere spices. The spicing was good and the lentils had a good bite to them. However, there was a slight imbalance in the dish as the vegemite stock used to cook the lentils in was also a little too tangy.

Coffee and pecan financiers with a maple cream (£9) were good and warm. The cakes were delicate and fluffy, but a crunchier surface and more butter in the mixture would have been better.  The rich and runny cream was a perfect accompaniment for the financiers.

When I last visited Nopi in 2011, I could not stop raving about the food. There was a vision in how Ottolenghi fused together Mediterranean, Asian and Middle Eastern ingredients and techniques, and the results were an explosion of exotic flavours previously unfamiliar to Londoners. To round off the delightful menu, much love and attention also went into the preparation of the dishes, which was evident in how the flavours came alive on the palate.

Nowadays, Nopi still maintains that vision and the menu continues to offer some unique and interesting options. On the whole this meal was enjoyable, but the quality of the cooking and the meticulous attention to detail that was once there has since dropped off.  We had some wonderful dishes such as the venison, but we also saw some overcooked scallops and a rather limp salad. Nopi’s food is still very good, but it really could have been much better. The service was lovely, chirpy and friendly.

We had an absolutely lovely birthday dinner (for my husband!) at Nopi this week. Already a fan of Ottolenghi's smaller, more casual cafe/restaurant in Islington, I was excited to try some of the dishes at the more formal, grown-up offering in Soho.

As fellow food-enthusiast Miho already remarked on below, the interiors are elegant and sleek: I love the simplicity and clean look of the gold tones contrasted against the white interiors and modern furniture (and yes, the bathroom was a total surprise - hands down the most amazing restaurant bathroom I've ever seen!).

The food was delicious. We ordered six plates to share, including twice-cooked baby chicken, which was delightfully succulent and served with a zingy chilil sauce, candied beetroot, which tasted marvellous as an accompaniment to the pork belly and mustard mash, and the okra, which was our favourite.

For dessert, my husband had the trifle, which looked amazing from across the table, and I opted for the Tau Fu Fa - a traditional Cantonese dessert made of tofu (which tastes very similar to creme caramel in texture), which I was already familiar with having had it several times during visits to Hong Kong and Vancouver B.C. The ginger syrup on the Tau Fu Fa was slightly too sweet (a bit too much, perhaps) but it worked wonderfully well with the fresh chunks of coconut and mango, which topped the dessert.

I think that you've got to go with no budget constraints in mind when you visit a restaurant like Nopi - it's too tempting to try everything on the menu! Our total came to £107 for the evening, which wasn't too bad, considering we had ordered a few drinks with the meal as well.

Would definitely return for a special occasion.

I feel there is no better time than a sunday morning to be sharing a decadent brunch post. What is the weekend after all without a hearty brunch?!

Quite possibly whilst you are reading this you are still in bed, having a slow day with the papers or maybe recovering from last nights frivolities. Well, whichever it is, sit back and relax whilst I dish out some of the good stuff.

I have long been meaning to pop up a review of Ottolenghi’s Nopi in Soho. It is one of my absolute favourite brekkie eateries in central London, so when the lovely girls from M&S suggested breakfast I brought along my camera, eager to share a few snaps with you all.

The restaurant has such a beautiful interior space, smart and sleek yet completely laid back.

If you follow me on Instagram, you also might have seen my obligatory bathroom selfie (in my fave new vintage leather trench coat,) I couldn’t resist… the trippy mirrors were just too tempting.

The restaurant has an amazing array of dishes on the menu from the more creative and unusual black rice porridge and the smokey shakshouka, to any kind of eggers you could possibly want, poached, scrambled or fried. It had been a while since my last visit, I was egg-static to be back!

Basically the whole reason for the meeting, (aside from a justifiable excuse to have a chin wag about food and finally meet) was to get the inside scoop on M&S new range for next year and discuss some rather exciting future possibilities. Let me say now, if you haven’t seen their new adventures in imagination adverts, you want to check them out. In fact, I am such a big fan (this is foodporn at its best) that I have popped it into the post below.

On with the food…

Usually I am a big fan of the black rice porridge, but this time I went a bit more mainstream this time and plumped for the poached eggs and smoked salmon with an obligatory half of an avocado. How they get it out the shell so cleanly is something I am yet to master! The lovely Jo went for the sautéed mushrooms towered high of thick cut sourdough with a poached egg perched on top.

Just look at those beautiful cracked yolks below. Bright golden orange, rich and oozy. Of course they were cooked to perfection. Not a hard yolk in sight.

If you are planning a little brunch, or in fact lunch, date in the west end anytime soon, I would definitely recommend you check out Nopi. It is the embodiment of creative, colourful yet uncomplicated food. (Exactly the things I celebrate in my own dishes) The quality of their ingredients is boldly apparent and their staff are all polite and completely welcoming. The only snag is that it might make you want to re-interior your own house after a visit.Gilded edged table, classic white tiling and rustic wooden counters… its a dream for a food photographer!

This is the best Ottolenghi food I have ever tasted. The food is beautifully presented and has wonderful flavour combinations and when gulped with an equally wonderful wine from the wine list which is brilliant, it just makes an exceptional experience. The service is quite good and the ambience is awesome with the lovely decor. I would love to stop by here again surely.

This place has some really well cooked cuisine, slightly on an expensive end, you will not find any over the top interesting dishes, it is simple but delicious. We ditched the mains for starters. Ordered a courgette- manouri fritter, little subliming flavours for my taste. Also , Scallops were the highlight of the whole meal for me!

I had a good time at this restaurant. The service and the ambiance was quite good. The waiting staff was hospitable and had great timing. But as i had huge expectations from it, being a part of the famous chef's chain of restaurant ,this particular place wasn't the best.
As far as the food is concerned, i would recommend trying smoked eel and courgette fritters ,both were flavorful and intriguing.
Probably not the best out of all the sister restaurants but not quite bad either.

This place is reminiscent of its standard establishment with white marble floors. Probably a little too much had it not been a somber weather outside ,i would have had a headache.
We had made reservations beforehand and were pleased with the top class service. The food was of supreme quality ,taste and smell and was served pretty fast.

Now to my recommendation, bagel with smoked salmon and black rice porridge which tasted amazing. My favorite was definitely the mushroom on sourdough,it is a must try. Another positive for the place is their portions which are quite appropriate.Overall ,a good experience.

The ambiance has a very young and lively feel to it. The setting and the space is just fine. The food is simple and great here. Nothing pretentious. Their specialty is the vegetables and the simplicity with which they do them; making them appear distinct and very inventive. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is delicious and everything we ordered was extremely delightful, so much so that we were still savoring it a couple of days later. The service is great, and the staff is attentive and friendly. The ambiance is also excellent, without being to noisy. There is complete value for money as the dining experience is completely worth it. The only thing which is not that appealing is that the wine list does not offer many reliable low-priced wines, which could considerably add to the bill. All in all, a great place and worth visiting again.

NOPI has been on my list for ages, my lovely best man at my wedding, Keith took me there for a pre-wedding treat. NOPI It’s a fairly new Ottolenghi restaurant serving small plates, typically from the Middle-east and Asia.

We had both scanned the menu during the day at work so already had our eye on a few things, and had worked out what cheese dishes to avoid (oddly, we both have a strong dislike of cheese). When we walked in I was struck by the beautiful soft yellow lighting, reminded me of the inside of the trulli buildings in Puglia, which was very apt as that’s where we got married. We were booked in downstairs which is more informal than the main dining room, with communal tables and an open kitchen, it was almost like going for dinner at a friend’s (very nice) house.

We started of with a cocktail, I was tempted by the Saffron chase, but it was one of the pricier cocktails and I didn’t want to take advantage of Keith’s generosity. Instead I opted for an Anise & apple instead, Pernod absinthe, dry rum, mint, apple, cucumber, lemon & pepper. Keith had a Rum and pistachio. At NOPI they serve you with complimentary water and also delicious sourdough bread, more places should really do this.

They recommend three savoury dishes per person, so we did just that, it was definitely the right amount, and it arrived a couple of plates at a time. We honestly loved every single dish, nothing disappointed and we were excited by it all. Even the twice-cooked baby chicken, lemon myrtle salt, chilli sauce was amazing, made me appreciate what a good and forgotten meat chicken is these days, wish we had one each.

The chargrilled broccolini, skordalia, chilli oil was gorgeous, and ideal with the chicken, the skordalia a Greek garlicky potato mash, broccolini is a cross between broccoli and kai-lan, a Chinese broccoli. I loved the fact that other people on our table would ask what our dishes were and vice versa, lots of food envy going on. And a very mixed clientele.

Next came the seared scallops, pickled daikon and green apple, it was the first time I’ve eaten scallops that I hadn’t cooked myself, so much better, now I know what they’re meant to taste like, delicious and soft. And the seared sea bream, citrus salad and tamarind relish went perfectly with it, although it was probably the least exciting dish.

Time for some meat, the slow-cooked pig cheek, celeriac and barberry salad bought a nice touch of rich meatyness and the Otak-Otak (steamed fish and coconut parcel) was a beautiful light dish, I love anything cooked with coconut as I adore Thai food.

Desserts were also lovely, but not as lovely as the savoury dishes. But then I am more of a savoury kind of girl. I had the kaffir lime, meringue, tapioca, honey and mango and Keith the roast hazelnut ice-cream, chocolate ice-cream, and warm chocolate sauce.

The toilets are not to be missed, seriously! I almost got lost inside them, all mirrored, you can see your reflection everywhere, not ideal if you’re not a fan of mirrors like me. Keith looked at me oddly when I came out raving about them.

Talking of cool toilets, I decided to take Keith for a nightcap at the beautiful Bob Bob Ricard as we were in the area, and to thank him for a lovely meal. Keith hadn’t had the pleasure of BBR yet and I knew he’d love it. We sunk into a booth in Bobby’s Bar and I had my favourite Blackberry Bramble, made with homemade sloe gin, I can drink loads of these with no risk of a hangover, and they contain fruit, result!

We sat and reminisced about our meal at NOPI and I made sure Keith visited the cool toilets at BBR also, he’s going to start to think I have some kind of toilet fetish.

The first time I came to here with my long-lost friend @Stray__Bullet, I had the pleasure of meeting owner Leonid himself and experiencing the Russian salad and the vodka. Leonid instructed me to take a swig of the ice-cold Kauffman Selected Vintage 2006. and then a mouthful of the salad, it totally wipes clean your palette so you can taste all the intricate flavours of the salad. It certainly worked and would be ideal to do at places like NOPI with small plates. I still haven’t had a meal at BBR yet, I don’t think the salad really counts as a meal…

Back to NOPI, I can’t recommend it enough, although it is pricey, I had some of the most stunning, creative and beautiful food I have ever eaten, and I can still taste it and remember all the flavours just looking at the pictures. Fantastic service also, friendly and informative. Am desperate to go back, one of my favourite meals ever.

It's difficult to pick a favourite meal or restaurant in London when there is so great a scale and variety of quality and expense, but for my wife and I there is not a restaurant we have visited as many times as Nopi. Anyone who knows Ottolenghi (the man or eponymous restaurants) will have a good idea at what to expect in terms of ingredients and flavour combinations, but Nopi is by a degree more refined and whether you are visiting for breakfast (one of the best in London), lunch or dinner you will always find spectacular food on the menu. In addition the staff are friendly and attentive and whilst it is not a cheap eat, my view is that is exceptional value. If you have not visited I urge you to correct that as quickly as possible!

Everyone knows about Ottolenghi and his ever-growing popularity with his restaurants and delicatessens in London. Slap on the wrist for me, because until this day, I had never ventured into any of his establishments. I really have no idea why.

Anyway, my love for brunch is no secret, and this time round we finally booked a table for the Ottolenghi experience at Nopi.

Firstly, it already gets two thumbs up from me for not being a no-reservations place, a trend that seems to be on fire in London lately.

Secondly, the decor. It's swish but not stuffy, modern but not cold, elegant but with an edge. The white and gold with wooden furniture - it completely won me over.

Onto the main event.

Their breakfast/brunch menu is not extensive, but certainly interesting. I went for the Shakshuka - braised eggs, piquant tomato sauce and smoked labneh (a kind of cheese), E went for the sausage focaccia sandwich with tomato chutney, and we shared the black rice with mango and banana out of curiosity.

It's the perfect place if you want something a little different to your standard eggs benedict, with their unique offerings and distinctive flavours. I kind of want to go back and try everything on their menu now, but first, I really should visit the other Ottolenghi branches.

It's ideally located in a little street in Soho, and did I mention you can make reservations? Do it.

It's rare to find a place in London with so many options for vegetarians. We tried practically everything in the veggie starters and not a single thing disappointed. Most were in fact lip smacking delicious. The best of all was the dessert of caramel and roasted peanut icecream which just melts into your mouth. Highly recommend it.

Most welcoming stuff, stylish interior and best-designed toilets in the whole of London restaurant world – this would be my definition of Nopi. As for the food, much has been said of Ottolenghi already and his colourful Middle-East-inspired cuisine, and I can not but admire the guy for his revolutionary take on salads that inspired the Englishmen to eat veggies. The salad bar does look incredibly good, however I was there for brunch both of my visits so have yet to come back to actually try the salads out.
Last time my choice fell on black rice with coconut milk, banana and mango, which was very kindly prepared for me without any dairy, and served with coconut cream – for richness, and maple syrup – for sweetness, both on the side. The so-called black rice is not wild rice, as I expected, but dark purple rice that is traditionally grown and used in Asia, for example in Thai cuisine. To be frank, I would admire this dish much more, have I not made exactly the same one myself just a few weeks ago, completely innocent of the fact that what I prepared just out of my head was in fact an Ottolenghi dish! I dare to say, I preferred my own version as it contained much more fruit, whereas at Nopi I was served a generous portion of rice, and not so generous couple of slices of fruit on top.
The others ordered salmon with eggs on toast – can never go wrong with that one I suppose, and granola, and were both totally happy with their choices.
Brunch with friends was delightful, and I am also going to add Nopi to my list of business-lunch-friendly places in Central London. In the meantime, should finally get an Ottolenghi recipe book and cook Nopi-style in my own kitchen!

There's a lot of love for Yotam Ottolenghi, for his Middle Eastern/Eastern Mediterranean fusion cooking, his mini chain of upmarket delis, and for his best-selling range of cookery books. In a city plagued by "me too" copycats and bandwagon-jumpers (seriously, can we stop with the dirty diner joints now? Even I'm bored by them) Ottolenghi stands as a rare example of a style and philosophy of food that is both unique and worldly. Healthy-food, rather than healthfood - all freshness and light and with exotic things like freekeh and pickled kohlrabi, not vegetarian but vegetable-focussed, it's genuinely revolutionary - you can see why it's been so popular.

It just never really interested me. I'd see the queues snaking out of the Ottolenghi shops in calculatedly upmarket areas of town like Notting Hill or Belgravia and the first thing I'd think wasn't "that salad looks like an interesting and colourful take on near-Middle Eastern cuisine" but "that is an awful lot to pay for rabbit food". A "small" selection of three salads from the Islington branch, for example, is £11.50, and these may contain nothing more exotic than broccoli, green beans and mixed peppers. I could understand the popularity, I just could not myself get excited about salad.

So perhaps making a reservation at his flagship Soho restaurant Nopi was a mistake in the first place. Having established I wasn't really the target market for this particular brand of vegetable-bothering, I could have cut my losses and gone elsewhere - Danish steakhouse MASH are doing a 50% offer on Toptable, and was just around the corner. But I like nothing better than to be proven wrong, and dinner with a vegetarian seemed the ideal opportunity to put my prejudices to the test. Perhaps I'd discover what all the fuss had been about all along.

Long story short, I didn't. In fact, I left Nopi stung by an astonishingly high bill and not feeling that for the outlay I'd really received much in return. The irritations began with the menu, which is arbitrarily divided into "Nibbles", "Mains", "Starters/Dishes to share" (underneath the mains for some bizarre reason) and "sides", yet with no detailed explanations offered by the staff and no real clues elsewhere, we were left to wonder why, for example "Vegetable crudites" was a "nibble" and not a "side", or why "crushed beetroot, date molasses, dukkah" was a vegetable starter but "lavash, spiced carrot, pomegranate, spring onion" was a "nibble".

We did our best. From "nibbles" we had a bowl of nuts for £4 (fine, I suppose, but four quid?) and a few slices of decent prosciutto dressed with pickled peppers. Around about this time, as well, some bread and oil arrived, and though the flavours were good, the bread was turning stale on one side. Given the prices charged elsewhere, it seems like extreme laziness to not slice fresh bread to order.

Four tiny calçots, rather timidly roasted in comparison to the ash-coated, leek-thick Catalan style I'd had before, came with a thin, bland, vaguely mayonnaisey sauce and cost £9.50. Roasted aubergine weren't much better, being unnervingly fridge-cold, and perhaps it's for the best that we couldn't detect any of the advertised vanilla.

My "main", a whole roast poussin, was not terrible. It looked the part, had plenty of flesh (only parts of the breast being slightly dry), and I liked the Vietnamese idea of serving it with lime and flavoured salt. It just wasn't particularly... memorable. The skin was soggy with some kind of molasses marinade, and there was no escaping the cloying sweetness (even the bones were slightly pink with a clearly lengthy marinading process) other than to coat it with lime and salt. Chilli sauce was pretty dull too.

"Persian love rice", the other main, was pretty and colourful, and the pickled kohlrabi had a particularly nice flavour. Providing texture was a little pile of lotus root crisps, and next to it a sharp and refreshing "courgette tzatziki". It was a perfectly nice collection of hardly earth-shatteringly dazzling vegetables, which cost £19. And that's too much, as is £5 for a small plate of freekeh with (undetectable) jalapeños - this was in every way like one of those salads you get in the little plastic boxes at M&S.

After all my moaning, I should probably repeat that despite everything I can see why Ottolenghi has his many fans. For restaurant-quality food that feels like it's doing you good, in admittedly impressive surroundings (the toilets are particularly interesting, like peeing in the Hall of Mirrors at your local amusement park) and served by attractive young staff that, in the main, didn't put a foot wrong, you can probably do worse. But our bill, with a couple of cocktails and a bottle of the cheapest wine, came to £132.19. And yes I know central London rents are higher but I also happen to know that at Peckham Bazaar (currently closed for renovation, but back open in April), a much more impressive range of Eastern Mediterranean dishes are being produced for a fraction of the cost. Yes, it's a bit further out of town and you probably won't have John Hurt sitting on the next table (as we did at Nopi). But your experience in every other respect will be infinitely better. So if you're not a diehard Ottolenghi fan, save your pennies for the bus fare and head out to SE15.

An outpost of the Ottolenghi empire, this Soho brasserie does all-day dining with a vibrant Middle-Eastern inspired twist. We arrived quite late so the brightly delicious-looking lunchtime salads were already on display but as brunch was the purpose of this visit we stuck to the breakfast menu and were delighted with our decision.

Jasmine tea and grapefruit juice were consumed while we we waited for the other ladies to arrive – there was also a good selection of Sunday papers to plough our way through. While we were catching up on world-events, our glasses of water were topped up without us even being aware of it. The service was discreet but also very friendly.

The others arrived, we ordered, a few of us checked out the insane loos (amazing design, though I’m not sure I’d be keen to get trapped in there after a glass or two of champagne~) and got down to business.

Brunch at NOPI was amazing. I had black rice with mango and coconut milk and it was absolutely to die for. The portions were great so I didn’t need to order more but it definitely left its mark on my conscience and I knew I’d have to make it at home sometime soon.

The others went for eggs of various sorts, all very enjoyable.

All in all, a wonderful brunch with a varied selection for different tastes. This is one of the first brunches I’ve had in London where I’ve come home wanting to make it myself.

Nopi is a tapas-style brasserie located north of Piccadilly (hence the name). Focusing on Asian- and Middle Eastern–influenced flavours and ingredients, this is the perfect venue if you're looking for small-plate food that can be shared.

What's to love? Their Roasted Aubergine served with pesto and feta is a house favourite. The Banana Leaf Fish is superb, and the Truffled Polenta Chips deserve a double order. The Baby Chicken is packed with flavour, and the exquisite Cheesecake (aka quiche) with beets is to be savoured.

The service is spot on - efficient, professional and laced with friendliness. And that, coupled with great food is what keeps me going back whenever I am in London.

Tip: check out the wall-to-wall mirrored bathroom downstairs. Out of this world! And be sure to book.

The place is very beautiful, i love the decor, very white with a lot of touch of gold. This is very well done, congrests to the architect. The food is good but not as good as the reputation. The taste doesn't equal the beauty of the plate nor the originality of the recipe. Thats a shame.
The basement is very large table in front of the kitchen, this is absolutely lovely. I recommand to book for a birthday party.

I went to Nopi thinking it would be much like Ottolenghi's - a restaurant which I fell in love with at first bite. There's a feel to the Yottam Ottolenghi experience that I love - innovative, vegetarian friendly, push the limits flavour combinations, feelsgoodfor you food, imaginative cocktails, a lovely wine list and a very very chic, dim lit, sexy vibe to his restaurants. Very unique, I haven't experienced this feelgood food in such glamorous surroundings before and I love it! The Nopi basement unfortunately is more business/client/team dinner friendly - brightly lit and with a view of the enormous, shiny kitchen, while the first floor feels much more like the Ottolenghi's that I was aiming for. However, the food was spot on as expected, meal highlights included the burrata with coriander seeds, the scallops and something delicious that I ate with peaches...hmm. A mostly vegetarian meal started to blur around the edges here, no complaints, but I didn't have enough standout individual tastes like I did at Ottolenghi, but I think I'll give it another try just to make sure ;) Service was friendly, and more or less attentive, but as I said, the basement is good for larger groups, and the smaller parties get a little lost. We fell on every word our waiter said though, and ordered a lot of his recommendations, all of which were very good, though we had to ask for an explanation of a number of things on the menu - falernum? freekeh? All part of the experience, and it's always a good experience with Yottam (even his cookbook is divine, though very fiddly). By the way, the bathroom here is gorgeously glamorous.

Nopi is one of the classiest restaurants i have been to in London with a very interesting fusion food option - Middles eastern and Asian. I went on a Saturday night and was seated downstairs, slightly uncomfortable and had to share the huge table with other couples. However, all of those things were completely washed out by stunningly presented and tasty food. The staff also suggested a really nice, smooth wine that went very well with the food ordered. Slightly expensive but worth every pound you spend.

From the people behind Ottolenghi. Quite formal - good for work breakfasts.
Shakshuka (fantastic dish - baked eggs with peppers, tomatoes, herbs, spices, yoghurt & bread - go with an appetite), granola with fruit and yoghurt, black rice coconut porridge.

I think this is my first 5 star rating and Nopi absolutely deserves it. From food to service to drinks to ambiance, I couldn't find any room for improvement.

The atmosphere is very relaxed and the helpful staff just adds more to it. There starters are brilliant, as they are quite small we ordered few small plates of veg, chicken and fish to share. I absolutely loved the burrata with coriander seeds.

For mains we shared the duck breast which was again very delicious, crispy and well-cooked.

Ask the waiters for the wine that will compliment your food, they have a great list and will be happy to help you.

PS: Don't forget to visit the toilets.

Went for my granddad’s birthday as a group of five.. service was super good - no pressure, kind - and the food was spectacular. We had five starters, three mains and some bread and it was the perfect amount… we were hungry and all left full, without leaving food to waste. My personal favorite was the celeriac - the squid was all right but only item we weren’t obsessed with. I’m not sure of the price as I didn’t see the final bill but it seemed very reasonable for the quality and the main servings were big. Will definitely be coming back!

It is a beautiful restaurant just behind Regent Street. Beautifully crafted dishes. All are small in size, so you can try many different dishes. And these flavour bombs are more than worth it.

What a spectacular dining experience! We knew we were in for a treat with Ottolenghi, and this did not disappoint. Vegetables, as you’d expect, truly are the heroes here. Between two people, from the menu we shared two nibbles, three veg, two fish/meat, two sides and a dessert - this was almost too much food for two (we went home very happily stuffed). Menu is heavily seasonal and changes regularly, but the highlights for us in particular were the char siu cauliflower and the maple roasted carrots. The spring chicken and ox tongue was also delicious - the whole menu is well thought out and you really can’t go wrong. Staff were extremely attentive and very friendly, and I liked that the restaurant didn’t feel too swanky. As far as dining goes, the cost is a blowout, particular when you add cocktails & wine, but it’s well worth it for a wonderful evening of delightful food and a lovely ambience.

The staff at Nopi could not have been more friendly and helpful with our baby. They gave us a large table and made us feel very welcome. The food was downright sensational. Every single dish was a minimum 9/10 with the waitress reccomended char sui cauliflower the best veggie dish I've ever eaten and star of the show. It was that good. Love the balance of textures and flavours, its food at its finest.

Highly enjoyable, tasty and friendly dining experience in central London. Dined here for a birthday which was kindly acknowledged with writing for the dessert. Meals were smaller by portion but all excellent. Highly recommended!

My wife has been raving about this spot for a while and we decided to check it out on a Monday evening. The restaurant wasn’t too busy, service was quick, and their staff was attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered a fair amount of food for 2 people: Bread Board, Maple Roasted Carrots, Char Siu Cauliflower, Chalk Farmed Trout, Seared Ox Tongue, Shawarma Lamb Rump, and Char-grilled Cabbage. Our favorites were: Chalk Farmed Trout and Char Siu Cauliflower. Absolutely outstanding! Drinks: good Food: great Service: great Atmosphere: casual-plus
