Food was fantastic in a very intimate surroundings. The Spanish black pudding equivalent sausage was a real highlight. The waiters were very attentive and the tapas came out in perfect succession so you could enjoy every dish.
We almost didn’t get into L’Oculto, a new(ish) tapas bar in Brockley, on Saturday night. We arrived to find the small restaurant full and, disappointed, were already walking back up the street, when one of the owners followed us out of the door and called us back. A couple at the bar had just asked for their bill and their seats were becoming available. I’m grateful they chased after us as I liked L’Oculto, a lot.
Tapas is a simple thing. Simply the best ingredients served with the finest natural and small batch wine and spirits. All selected personally from the best Spain has to offer by the highly knowledgeable friendly and attentive staff.
Not just a great local restaurant, lunch time cafe, delicatessen and wine shop but one of the best places to eat in London.
I love love love this please. Best Tapas in London. Actually best Tapas I have ever tasted! It even beats the Tapas I have had in Spain! The ladies work wonders in the kitchen. All the staff are fantastic and are full of passion and knowledge about the food and wine they serve.
This place is a must try, then try again and agian!
Exceptional place! Top quality products amazing service great chef. It's a MUST TRY
Tiny place. Chef came out and explained every dish on the menu to us and where all the ingredients came from. Surprising experience, but great knowing they care about their ingredients so much! Great wine list. Food was served tapas style so great for sharing. It came a bit slow and portions were small, but because we had to wait so long between each plate we were comfortably full by the end of the meal.
This is a lovely little place. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is really authentic and intimate, and the staff are both very welcoming and really knowledgeable about Spanish food and wine. We've been twice now, and we loved it on both occasions. We'll be back very soon.
A cosy place with friendly staff offering excellent, albeit expensive, tapas and wines. The food is good, while the portions are small – not an equation that generally bothers me – but I did leave hungry, which isn't ideal: the selection for non-meat eaters is limited. Still, a good local option to check out.
Went tonight, and food and service was amazing. Great attention to detail by all of the staff, and can recommend the organic wines too. Favourite dish was the slow cooked beef and the frittata.. but it was all fantastic.
We are regulars at L'Oculto, as the standard of food is always excellent, the service is great, and the pricing really affordable. Always guaranteed to be a wonderful night. Unfortunately our last visit coincided with Valentine's Day, so they were busy and service was very slow, which ultimately meant we were kicked out without having finished our meal. This tarnished our evening somewhat, but we will probably continue going - just not in Feb!
Visited the new L'Oculto in Brockley with 5 friends on the weekend as was really impressed. Service was friendly and they took the time to explain all of the gluten free options to a member of our party who has a severe allergy. We ordered almost everything on the menu including two bottles of red wine and a bottle of cava. The fish and seafood dishes stood out the most - very well cooked and full of flavour. The rabbit terrine special was so juicy and delicious. However, the portion sizes on the mixed cheese and charcuterie board were very small. The meal was quite expensive - £300 for the 6 of us - but the quality of the food and wine was great. Perfect for a special occasion but perhaps a little too pricey to be a regular spot.
A gorgeously quaint restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. As someone who normally avoids Spanish restaurants because I've been disappointed so many times, this was a wonderful surprise. The food was absolutely delicious and reminded me so much of my Galician family's cooking. The tortilla was to die for! Very upset its closing having only just found it, but at least there is still the sister restaurant in Brockley!
