Started out as a popular spot in Hackney, Lahpet has managed to find its way closer to the city. First opening as a stall at Old Spitalfields Market, and now a nice restaurant space in Shoreditch! Featuring huge windows, decorated with a bamboo stems & leaves, the restaurant has a fairly light setting. Its interior in overall has a contemporary style with a slight cosy touch.

Lah Pet can best be described as a trendy restaurant/bar serving modern Burmese cuisine. Overall, we thought that the food was delicious and well-cooked. Highlights were the pork and green mustard curry, the hake masala (served with a tasty potato rosti) and the tea leaf lah pet salad. We also ordered the fritters trio - personally, I'd just order 3 x serves of the Shan tofu fritters. The split pea fritters were quite nice but I wasn't a big fan of the mandalay. "House rice" was meant to be cooked with coconut milk but frankly, it just tasted like plain rice. Service was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly.

For a restaurant with plenty of opportunities to hone its craft due to its time on the street food and residency circuits, there were more missteps than I would’ve liked at Lahpet. The tofu nway, in particular, has the dubious distinction of being the dullest dish I’ve had so far this year.

First time to try Burmese cuisine and it was surprisingly really good. Had the coconut noodles with chicken which really warms you up for the cold nights! For the dessert, the Pandan creme brulee was delectable! They had strong cocktails too!

Came here with my friend whose family is from Burma. She agreed that the food here was extremely authentic and detail-oriented. We were seated at the bar, which was very helpful to order cocktails and get an explanation of our drinks. Without a doubt, this was one of the best meals I have had in London. The flavours, tastes and textures of the dishes were all unique. We had the Tea Leaf Salad, which my friend said was very authentic and tasted like her mum's cooking; and the braised beef, which was seasoned perfectly. Our portions were massive and I wished I had asked to have out left overs boxed up, as I was craving the food all night and the next day. I bought the restaurant's cook book for my friend and she said it is a brilliant book.

Such a delicious restaurant! I have never had Burmese food and it was an amazing pleasant surprise! The food was deeply flavourful, light and spicy, and the menu had a wide range of different main dishes ranging from curries to noodle soups. I have a peanut allergy and my friend is a coeliac, and this was easily managed by the staff. They knew exactly what we could and couldn’t eat and it didn’t seem like we were a fuss as you can often feel in some restaurants - we were very well taken care of. The vibe inside was chill and laid back, and the service was fast and attentive. I will definitely return with friends and try out as many different dishes as I can!

Ive been there twice for dinner and loved it both times. I got the beef curry - beef is cooked to perfection and very flavourful. Portions are quite large. The tea leaf salad is a standout dish for sure. Very unique flavour and really interesting dish to share. My friends ordered the chicken noodle soup and really enjoyed it. This was my introduction to Burmese food and definitely did not disappoint!

My first time with Burmese cuisine in London. Food and ambience both were great. Must try: Tea leaf salad, yellow pea Paratha, coconut noodles with chicken, and cassava cake

A first for me when it comes to trying burmese food. It was a unique experience for sure and the flavours were refreshing. I enjoyed the salads and fish dish. Service could be improved, there were many waiters and waitresses but hardly smiled or gave me much attention until I had to look for a service staff to help. Chefs were hard at work and was nice being able to look into their cooking space whilst food was being prepared. Atmosphere wise, restaurant was cosy.

Prepare to have your taste buds blown away because I just had the most mind-blowingly delicious food in London! 🌟 Every single bite was an explosion of flavors that left me speechless and craving for more. This culinary experience was on a whole new level! Let's talk about those chicken noodles. Oh my goodness, they were beyond addictive! Each mouthful was an irresistible blend of tender chicken, perfectly cooked noodles, and a medley of spices that danced on my palate. It was a flavor symphony that had me completely hooked! And let's not forget about the beef curry. It was a masterpiece of culinary perfection! The beef was cooked to absolute perfection, so tender and juicy, and the curry sauce was an explosion of aromatic spices that took my taste buds on a wild adventure. It was pure bliss in every single bite! But wait, there's more! The parathas on the side were the cherry on top of this gastronomic delight. They were warm, flaky, and oh-so-buttery, adding that extra touch of perfection to an already incredible meal. It was the ultimate combination that sent my taste buds into a frenzy! I'm already counting down the minutes until I can go back and indulge in this flavor extravaganza once again. This place has truly set the bar high for culinary excellence in London, and I can't wait to explore more of their tantalizing creations. If you're a true foodie, this is an experience you simply cannot miss. Trust me, it will take your taste buds on a rollercoaster ride of pure delight. Get ready to be blown away by the tastiest food London has to offer!

Never had a Burmese food before, that was a good enough reason to drop in. Turned out to be a delightful unique experience. Do not miss the tea leaf salad.
