This is a traditional Portuguese restaurant with amazing tasty food and friendly staff. You must book before visiting it as they are very popular and it is difficult to get a table.
A comida estava impecável e bem acima das expectativas! Foi como estar num restaurante em Portugal. O polvo à lagareiro era delicioso, a espetada de lulas generosa e o bacalhau com natas muito bom. Os únicos pontos contra foi termos encontrado várias espinhas no bacalhau c natas e as ameijoas à bulhão pato não terem sabor - possivelmente por serem congeladas mas dado o sítio onde se está, melhor era complicado. Recomendo!
A Toca is a restaurant that maintains the quintessential Portuguese spirit and tradition of food establishments. Staff is very friendly and we almost immediately got into a good spirited banter. As far as food goes, i shared 3 dishes with friends: the octopus Lagareiro style was superb, exactly what I was looking for. The calf ribs were good as well, although the rice was cooked to perfection. The final dish was the sirloin steak Mirandesa style, a personal favourite but the one i enjoyed the least. Main reason is i let us go for a medium done steak and that should be a criminal offense. Do not commit this cardinal sin and ask for it medium rare (or even rarer). Medium done made the steak become to spongy and lacking taste. Gutted. My dessert of choice was biscuit cake, and while it was good, I prefer the variant which has added coffee to it. Overall another good option in Stockwell if you are keen on giving Portuguese flavours a go.
Nice and friendly service, very good food. I always go there for the picanha, delicious and always perfectly cooked.
I usually go on weekends and have to wait for a table so booking ahead might or be a bad idea.

Amazing portuguese food! The service can be slow sometimes but the food is worth the wait. However, to best enjoy the experience you should go there with at least one portuguese friend. Must try the caldo verde, the arroz de marisco and the portuguese steak!
Boa comida portuguesa em Londres e a preço acessível. É aqui. Ponto de paragem semanal, este restaurante destaca-se pela qualidade da confecção e pela simpatia dos empregados. Recomendo o arroz de marisco, polvo à lagareiro e de entrada os mexilhões da casa. Tudo fantástico a acompanhar com cerveja ou vinhos portugueses. O ponto mais fraco são as sobremesas mas normalmente com as doses bem servidas já não estamos a pensar nisso e apenas uma boa bica fecha em glória uma refeição fantástica. Last but not least, para ver jogos de futebol de equipas portuguesas ou da selecção em Londres, este é o sítio!

Home away from home with very familiar tastes that aren't losing anything despite the distance.
Inside it is a very Portuguese restaurant. So be ready to watching Portuguese TV, drinking Portuguese lager and Portuguese Wine. Decor also it is the same as a lot of Portuguese restaurants have.
When in Rome be Roman, so in this case all food has to be indigenous.
The choice is plenty and all with authentic ingredients. Not similar. Authentic.
Starters were melon with dry cured ham as well as bread, olive oils and soft cheese.
As the tastes are the same, the Bacalhau à Braz ( Cod à Brás. think of it roughly as a cod with scrambled eggs and chips ) was exactly how it's done there. Great taste, albeit not too salty. And the portion is decently sized !
The dessert is always excellent. Baba de Camelo ( literally translated, Camel's drool, which is in reality caramel mousse ) disappears too quickly.
All of this downed with a Portuguese lager, Super Bock.
The staff are a happy bunch, and always eager to make you have a good time
Final bill is around 22 pounds per person, which considering all of the above, is a pretty good deal.
I have been there before and I see no reason to stop going there.
When I'm craving for Portuguese food this is the place I return too. Warning, the portions are quite big so make sure you arrive with an empty stomach!
I tend to have seafood although the meet is really good as well. For starters you can have the fresh cheese or chorizo. Today I had melon with prosciutto. The soup caldo verde is also a must try.
For main I had the octopus and the cod (bacalhau a bras)
Save some space for dessert! You have the baba de camelo (caramel mousse) or rice pudding. I had the chocolate mouse.
Finally I had a proper espresso.
A huge meal to enjoy with a group of friends for a lazy afternoon.
Being Portuguese im always looking for great Portuguese restaurants in London, and Toca has become a regular place for me, not only because of the great traditional food but also the true Portuguese atmosphere and spirit of the place. The people are lively, engaging and are always welcoming, it can become quite busy sometimes which will of course involve meals taking longer to be delivered etc. but this is to be expected and the staff are always apologetic and mindful.
On my latest visit, i chose Caldo Verde as a starter (Cabbage Soup) and for my main i chose Bife da casa (steak), the food was great, really felt as if i was back home! And as with all typical Portuguese restaurants, the portions are huuuge! But don't worry, if like me you are more "eyes than belly" (mais olhos que barriga- sounds better in Portuguese!) than you have the option of asking for a smaller portion or they can bag it up for you to take away! :)

Great Portugeuse restaurant. I tried the Grilled sardines and Portugeuse green wine along with great coffee and desert. Thoroughly recommended. It gets busy because its good so you may want to book. Luckily me and my girlfriend got a table on my first visit without booking. A great evening!
The food is always tasty here. The waiters are always busy but always very friendly. The portions are quite decent and reasonably price despite cost of living crisis.
We ordered a grilled octopus and prawns, grilled ribs and the classic bacalhau a bras. We had a very good time there
I've been walking past this restaurant nearly every day and it was always busy. I finally decided to try it and I've been kicking myself for no going in sooner!!! Hands down one of the best Portuguese restaurants! The food was divine and we couldn't stop eating. Was so good that we didn't even need to add salt/pepper, it was just perfect. I definitely found my new favourite place...
Delicious and very reasonably priced Portuguese food. I've been told that this is one of the most authentic Portuguese places in London and it didn't disappoint. The grilled meats and seafood rice were delicious!
We ordered too much food for two. Love the chorizo & seafood rice. The steak is normal, others are okay. However, the pickled vegetables in the chorizo dish were way too sour (thought it’s pickled cucumbers, but it’s cauliflower).
Service is good, the staff working there are friendly.

The food is excellent, the waiters is nice, good food, very nice food, the price is excellent. The food portion is very large.
Delicious seafood at a reasonable price and nice service from the waitress. Highly recommended.
Amazing restaurant, great food. Very decent portion and my Portuguese friend told us it reminded her her mums cooking back home.
The only question is when we'd have the chance to go back soon. Plenty more to try.
We went for dinner and it was all occupied! I recommend to book in advance not just to stop by. We decided to try the meat and I can tell it was amazing, accompanied with a really good wine :) we will surely come back to try the fish and the desserts !

Portions here are generous and prices reasonable. Most dishes are tasty and the meat is good. They also do a lot of fish and seafood dishes.
A bit of refurbishment would be good but the old style here has its own charm.
Closest free parking would be Sainsburys Nine Elms for 3 hours.
Amazing restaurant
First time visiting with my half Portuguese boyfriend.
Service was great, food amazing and portion size was more than generous.....we took the leftovers home with us. We opted for the octopus salad for starters and then the seafood rice.
Was definitely worth the 2 hour journey to get there and will be back! Bill was less than expected for the quality
