Delicious pasta everywhere. Had a nice arabiatta which meatballs and Italian sausage: felt like straight from the Vesuvius. My folks has the vongolle, with clams and shrimp, and were pleased with it. The risotto with salmon and asparagus was good but lacked a bit of taste (to be fair, neither tend to pack a big punch in that department). A nice enjoyable place, and another for a already long list of good Italian restaurants in London.
I have had take away pasta here a few times and never disappoints, the price is extremely good for take away and reasonable for dinning in as well. Today i went for a sit down and had Spaghetti Bolognese, food was served quickly and staff very friendly and quick.
The only issue is that is does get very busy so try to go early or book and also the acoustics are not great so it can be difficult to have a conversation, it is not a large place but you still don't feel on top of each other.
Great pasts and Italian cuisine but no pizza in case you were expecting this.
Demartino is one of my favourite Italians in London. The owner is always friendsly and accomodating, and the food is fast and fresh. I love the mussels and the fried mozerella, and the carbonara is delicious too. It sits unassuming on Great Portland street, but dont overlook it , its delicious.
Ok food, restaurant has just had a revamp and can get really busy. Somewhat disappointed with the food on the last visit (march 2011) but I have had some great meals here. Staff are friendly even when busy though more so if you speak Italian.
Really great Italian restaurant, the pastas are so good, the veal Milanese is light and crunchy. Staff are friendly and atmosphere is cozy Italian.
I have never been able to try their desserts as I get full by their huge portions !
I highly recommend this place.
Demartino is one of the places I visit quite regularly in London, mainly because the food is very good, and really worth the money. The atmosphere is always busy, especially around lunch time, and dinner time (it's open all day so you can show up whenever you want). The feel is very 'home-y', loud, and reflective of a true authentic Italian restaurant. The waiters are very friendly, and the service is always great as in I have never had to wait longer than expected, or gotten a wrong order or anything of the sort. Food-wise, everything on the menu is good and very comforting and satisfying- I have had the clam pasta, the bolognese, the carbonara, the swordfish, the salads, the aubergine- and all of them were very very good! Also, the restaurant is very generous in quantities, so you're never left feeling hungry or unsatisfied. If you're going for a meat dish, you should expect to pay a maximum of 20 pounds with your drink and service, and the pasta dishes are cheaper (especially if you want to get take away, (a small 6 pounds for an extremely generous portion of pasta that you could even share with someone else). I really recommend this place for a good casual Italian dinner.
For someone looking for a real homemade Italian dinner, this is definitely a place to go, especially for the very reasonable prices. Extremely friendly staff, often complemented by a warm Italian accent. The Melanzane Parmigiana is great to share as a starter, although it is largely enough to have as a meal (big quantities). The Almalia Pasta is simple and great comfort food on a winter night. Always full and bustling, and seating is available outside. Sometimes the food is irregular, have had a few bad experiences with the Chicken Parmigiana.
Demartino was a bolt from the blue for me. A completely unexpected conquest of my culinary mind. I remember it clearly. My father was taking me out for lunch on Great Portland Street. He knew a place, he told me unceremoniously. An Italian place. I was excited for his company. My expectations of the restaurant was non-existent. I was expecting it to be little more than a venue for out meet-up. How wrong I was.
The pizza is sublime. This is perhaps the best pizza I've ever had the pleasure to eat. At least, it certainly comes close. It ambushed me, completely unexpected. They placed it before me, and the smell was out of this world. And I took a bite - the gel of ingredients, the temperature, the topping to base ratio. This was a pizza made with love by somebody who knew what he was doing.
It was a summer's day. It was bright, breezy, cool, and fresh, and the staff were pleased to see us. It's hard to give the place anything but the full 5 stars.
Screw Flanders.
Amazing food with a great selection of authentic Italian dishes, friendly and attentive staff, and a vibrant and lively atmosphere (even on a rainy Wednesday evening). The gnocchi and tiramisu are my personal favourites and are to die for. The pasta dishes are reasonably priced, yet you still get a large portion. I can’t wait to come back here again!
I bumped with Demartino by chance and decided to try it for dinner. The nearly full, lively place helped me decide to enter. I ordered a lasagna and a carafe of Chianti classico. It had been ages since I had such a beautiful looking and smelling lasagna. The taste was very good too. The only thing is that the tomato sauce was a bit on the heavy side. The wine was a very good choice. For dessert, I had red berries cheesecake that was delicious. Very good and friendly service.
Excellent sea food and meat. Good surprise
V2: veal meat was maybe too big. Cheesecake was awesome.
Soft shell crab & sweet chilli (temporary)
Nodino do vitello (veal chop marinated in lemon juice & rosemary)
Cheesecake (white chocolate, berries)
Very delicious Italian food!!!
Ordered the seafood risotto, linguini and clams, parpradelle with bolognese, and spaghetti carbonara! Prices are very reasonable priced. Good portions.
Also, ordered desert - tiramisu and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake! So goood!!!
Outdoor seating is nice. Has a heater outside. Location is nice. Not too noisy on the street.
Service is very good. Quick and efficient. Kind.
The best Italian Restaurant I have been in London! The food is absolutely amazing, taking by the fact the cooks and the owner are proper Italians. The place is very nice and cozy, suited for a dinner with family and/or friends and business meetings. I loved the hospitality and how hygienic the place is. Better book ahead as the place gets a bit busy at some point during the evening.
Great Italian restaurant, had ravioli which was nice.
Ambiance is great too.
We've been to london for a week and we love Italian food and by far this is the best one we found! 😋👏 And of course the experience couldn't be more special with the best waiter/host in the world - Claudio. We will definitely be back again!

A truly authentic italian restaurant. The staff most old italian guys are really cook. The menu has a vast selection of pasta. The last time I’ve been I tried the seabass linguine.
Nice cuts of seabass in olive oil to make the sauce. It was beautiful. And it called my attention when I asked parmigiano and the waiter said to try without. It was definitely worth. Their ragu as well the seafood linguine are also to be tried
Absolutely flawless. Fantastic food, such genuine, friendly and good humoured staff too! For the quality of the food, the prices really were not unreasonable for London. The bruschetta was one of the best I've ever had, and the meatball tortellini was superb. Could not recommend this place enough!
What a delightful little Italian!
The staff were so helpful especially the front of house, very accommodating for just a solo diner. The Menu was very good covered all classic Italian dishes and caters for gluten free pasta, fish off the bone if required. Very reasonable in price and a good wine list too- staff were well educated on what best to match food.
Stunning warm cosy atmosphere that definitely had regulars eating. Will be going again when next down for work and would highly recommend.
Nothing better than wholesome homemade Italian food on a cold winters night
