We started off with drinks and I ordered a Don Pablo which was very good.
We then started with a Hot & Sour soup which tasted better than most other places.
For starters, I was really impressed with the The spice route ‘Chai’ (Tofu). That was the best amongst the starters.
The wasabi prawns and wasabi tofu were too soggy, sweet and hardly had the zing of wasabi.
The Soft shelled crab was just not worth ordering for the price, for the taste or for the texture. It was just bad.
The layered tofu which is the vegetarian version of mock meat was bad as well. The texture, the taste, the flavour just not up to the mark.
For the mains we ordered Roasted Chilean sea bass which was great, and yet again my favourite was the vegetarian main of Mapo Spicy Aubergines and Homemade Tofu. It came sizzling in a bowl and it stayed hot until the very last bite. We ordered the Ginger flavoured fried rice to go with the mains and it was a great choice. Finally for Desserts we ordered The chocolate delicacy - Chocolate Grows On Trees. The presentation, the taste and the quality was just mind blowing. A must must try for all those who have a sweet tooth and love chocolate.
For a Michelin Star Restaurant I think the quality of the seafood starters can be so much better. Having worked in a Restaurant by a Michelin star chef (ABC V -Jean Georges) I know the quality that needs to be put into every dish that is on the menu.
But nonetheless a good experience. 👍

📝: “Liberated Chinese Cooking”, the principle of cooking at London’s 1-star Michelin restaurant, Kai. They believe in evolving Nanyang Chinese cooking with new skills, techniques, and ingredients—not restricting themselves to the past.

❤️: Everything was absolutely amazing. But the best highlight dishes of the meal would have to go to the Nanyang Chili Lobster and Peking Duck. Don’t miss the cute dessert plate, Oprah’s Contradiction, combining small bites of the best tasting elements together.

Just down the road from Grosvenor House in the heart of Mayfair is the lovely little restaurant serving wonderful Chinese food. You could bump into a celebrity or two but the food is great. The corn fed chicken and the sea bass with ginger are just done right. The exquisite 6 shades of chocolate is the ultimate dessert to finish off a fine meal

They say they have the best hot and sour soup in the world and indeed they do. You gotta go try it for yourself. The place is very well located in Mayfair London and the ambience is cozy and subtle. Been there twice loved it both times.

For a delicious and out of this world experience for your tastebuds, don’t miss out on this fine dining opportunity! The hot and sour soup is the best you will ever taste, the wasabi prawns are my personal favourite and I have tried quite a few in different places but nobody does it like Kai! And to top it off the Peking duck with the sliced cucumbers and onions in the pancake with plum sauce followed by the second portion which consists of the rest of the duck sautéed in oyster sauce with a pairing of rice of your choice! Definitely a must go! Do not miss out!!

The combination of flavors used in the savory and sweet dishes are very unique and well researched that you will never taste anywhere else.
Staff is very friendly and highly knowledgeable about the ingredients and the history behind every dish.

Looking for somewhere for that special occasion? Or just feel like splurging? Well then, welcome to Kai! On South Audley Street, in the heart of Mayfair, this place fits snugly into the ‘fancy’ department. Its awards pretty much speak for themselves: “1 Michelin Star – 2009 to 2017”; “Highest Ranked Chinese Restaurant in the Sunday Time’s Britain’s Top 100 Restaurants 2012 & 2015” etc. etc. So was it worthy? I’d say so… There were two specific things that I loved about the menu:

Excellent food, must try their spiced chai dishes and wasabi infused dishes (veg and non veg). Service was good and the place had a beautiful interior. But their desserts were simple amazing, the chocolate tree, the creme brûlée with Milo powder and the Oprah dessert are must try’s. Definitely recommend this place, great standard.

Hands down, this is one of the best restaurants ive been in London.
Their food is so delicious, flavorful and you will definitly order a second plate. They also have this hot sauce they make homemade, it is so good with the food.
Ive been there more than once throughout the past 2 years. And honestly, i love it.
The waiters are friendly and kind, they will serve you with smile.

Good food and mood - variety on the menu and prominence in flavours! Didn’t quite like then lobster noodles despite looking very forward to it. It was chewy and not well seasoned. The beef was impeccable and would definitely order it again! Atmosphere was very calm, a couple tables with few people around but the rest were empty..

Came here on Sunday for the afternoon tea to celebrate a friends birthday. The decor is beautiful and the staff are very friendly. Crazy rich asian themed with menus displayed on the tables inside the crazy rich asian books. Loved the bird cages and birds on the tables where you could tell your wishes to and clip onto the surrounding bird cages in the restaurant. Also loved the wind up chirping birds on the table. The waiter explained the menu selection, and we received a complimentary cocktail to start. This was a tea cocktail and was really tasty, non alcohol versions can also be served. We picked our teas and selected our afternoon tea option and were quickly served a beautiful spread, and the waiter explained what each dish was. I must admit the savoury portions are very small and they don't let you know that you could get a free refill of any of the afternoon tea foods but because it's more of a higher end afternoon tea we asked the waiter and he brought us another serving. We thoroughly enjoyed every part of the afternoon tea and loved all the details put into it. The toilets here are also amazingly designed. I will definitely be back again

We came here for the afternoon tea. Just to note the restaurant on Google comes up as closed but it is open for tea. The ambience and service was so good, amazing even. Decor was wow and the little touches of the experiences were great. The savoury food was great, so was the sweet- everything was amazing! And it was just enough food. Tea was also good. Afternoon tea is £52 per person and I would definitely recommend going, especially on a special occasion!

Kai was my first experience at a high end Michelin star restaurant amd it didn't disapoint. Genuinely the best food I have ever eaten. The pudding in particular was the single best thing I have eaten, ever. The staff were lovely and very friendly. One gent even offered to teach me how to use chop sticks. Very genuine people that help make you feel at home. Incredible place. I would highly recommend.

The food is great especially the chili lobster. It was one of the best dishes I’ve ever tried. The duck was also very nice but I wouldn’t say it’s that special. Also shrimp wasabi for starters, yummm! It’s honestly quite pricey but it was expected.

We were very excited to try out Kai in Mayfair. This 1 Michelin star spot has had some really good reviews. The atmosphere and interior is really nicely designed and quite unique. The food was decent and the wine selection was good. Highlight of the evening was the chocolate dessert. One of the best things to try.
