Absolutely delicious food, particularly the pastas. A lovely atmosphere, not too loud, and excellent service without being stuffy. A nice little treat.
A classy neighbourhood Italian with a seasonal menu. Local (for me) but definitely worth the trip if you live further afield! Trullo has a pretty small but changing menu depending on the season, although a few classics always remain. As a table of four, we opted to order most of the menu and share everything – a strategy that worked really well!
My local Italiano and my favourite by a very long way. I've eaten here so many times over the years and I've never been less than impressed by the genius of their ever changing menus. The wine list has grown with confidence to keep up with the kitchen. Friendly and attentive service. Best of all, two increasingly rare things that work in their favour - they take bookings (hallelujah!) and there's no music to compete with the conversation. Cannot recommend the place more highly.
Poppedin for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by this pleace. Very delicious food. All done carefully. Reallly cant fault it.
I had leeks with almonds and then the lamb. Perfect.
My partner and I had a fantastic evening at Trullo, with a beautiful Italian inspired seasonal menu (given, a small one at that) the Pappardelle with beef shin ragu was an absolute delight! Despite it being a Monday evening it was surprisingly packed, so ensure to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Great service, great food. We went for Sunday lunch which has a fixed menu of four courses for about £30 a head. Lamb shoulder slow cooked, pulled apart and then baked in bread served with chard in a tomato and anchovy sauce was memorably good. Reliable, classy - but not stuffy - this is a great place to revisit.
2nd visit New dowstairs section Smaller portions for a fiver. Absolutely superb food and service £50 for two Inc tip [no service charge| Definitely going again [special mention for the Quail, the Sea Bass Carpaccio and the Old Fashioneds]
Cute spot in Islington with very fresh pastas.
Trullo is a small Italian restaurant in Islington with a short and mouth-watering menu that changes daily. I chose the most deliciously heavy dishes available, without a green vegetable in sight. We started with sharing some large, fresh olives and a glass of light rosé prosecco. I then had the Pici with golden garlic and parmesan, a hand rolled pasta which is amazing but filling despite it being a starter. The chilled almond soup with
From the outset, Trullo has received a lot of praise. But what has made it so busy and successful with would be couples? Inside, the decor is sober and classy, which is perfect for either a family dinner or a romantic rendezvous. With its fresh handmade pasta and charcoal grill, Trullo is a mix of gastro pub and an authentic Italian trattoria An Italian-style eating establishment, less formal than a ristorante, but more formal than an osteria. There are generally no printed menus, the service is casual, wine is sold by the decanter rather than the bottle, prices are low, and the emphasis is on a steady clientele rather than on haute cuisine. . The menu changes daily, so you’ll never need to worry about eating the same food twice. Staff are friendly and very happy to explain the ins and outs of the menu. For your aperitivo, there is an extensive menu, while the food menu is much shorter; Trullo’s chefs focus on quality over quantity. Starter wise, burrata Burrata is a fresh Italian chee
Really enjoyed my solo dinner at Trullo. They have a section for walk-ins and I was sat at the bar. Ed served me and was brilliant at recommendations for the primi, mains and dessert. I ordered the arancini and a pasta with pesto and genovese: hearty portions, fresh and was served quick. Big props to Ed - great service!
Definitely going back and adding to my London restaurant list
This is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to in London.
I was greeted and served by very friendly staff.
I absolutely loved the Cacio e pepe (a simple yet delicious pasta with pepper and cheese) the last time I visited, so I went to try it again. It wasn't on the menu, but the staff was so kind to ask the kitchen to prepare it- which they did!
And it was delicious! I tried the dish at other restaurants in London and this one is the best so far.
Everything is created with care and very high quality ingredients. I would absolutely recommend this place for a nice dinner or a date.
Just make sure to book a table when you're visiting. I got lucky and got a table for one person at 6pm. But this place seems to book out fast.
A lovely and intimate restaurant in Highbury and Islington, perfect for an outing with friends or a date. The food was stunning and the service even better, our waitress was super knowledgeable and helpful throughout. The food was very tasty, elegant and simple, just as Italian food should be. The menu was small and given how good the ragu parpafelle was I just wish they offered a few more options so there was more to try! Our total spend was £45 each after sharing 2 starters, 1 glass of wine and sharing 1 dessert, which I thought was very reasonable. Would come back again.
Really lovely place for quality Italian food. We booked last minute so had a late sitting but didn’t feel at all rushed. Everything was great - the atmosphere, the food (especially the pasta dishes), the service - our waitress could clearly see we were struggling with our whole mackerel so came over to give us some tips, which was much appreciated! Will definitely be back with friends to try more of the menu.
Food options are not that many but classic
Pasta turns out to be really nice and refreshing
Tiramisu is quite creamy compared to the ones I had before, but not that sweet
However I don’t like espresso martini - it’s too bitter that even makes me shivering. It’s not blending well and each flavour is separated
Superb for a Sunny Sunday of Small Plates. Beautifully arranged space really makes use of any light available paired with an excellent menu that caters to your appetite on the day. We were in the mood for a few starters, a couple of pastas, some bread and a tiramisu washed down with a few glasses of prosecco and some sparkling water. £100 all in, then go make out on a bench in Highbury fields round the corner. A near flawless Sunday. Also good for family or friendly catch ups I imagine.
Absolutely excellent lunch 🙌🏻
Started with a round of the aperitivi and antipasti which were delicious. The Gimlet is amazing - beautiful bitter flavour - as are the arancini and burrito which were both gorgeously creamy.
We tried three of the four primi dishes, each amazing in its own way. The fettuccine was my personal favourite with its rich flavour but the tagliarini with parmesan, lemon and marjoram had a lovely lightness.
Lastly, the stars of the show: the swaledale lamb shoulder and mozzarella di bufala. What an amazing main course! The lamb was absolutely perfect combined with the potatoes and chicory.
Then, we finished off with a decadent tiramisu and the lemon tart which was gorgeous.
Just amazing; definitely plan to return.
an incredible experience at trullo! would recommend to all! delicious food and atmosphere was amazing! defiantly be coming back for sunday lunch again! 10/10
Came here for dinner last week, and was very happy with my experience. Even though it took a while for a staff member to show us to our table, the waiters were attentive and constantly alert to fill up our water, and take our orders. The pasta was fresh and delicious, and the overall atmosphere was romantic and formal. The desserts were also good, however they could probably be shared, as they were quite big. Overall a great place to come for dinner or for a celebration, just be sure to book in advance!
Enjoyable late lunch with friends. Went for the large T bone to share - not cheap at £98. Warning. Does take perhaps an hour to cook. Unfortunately the 2 pasta dishes were the wrong order - but when they did arrive the cheese and pepper pasta was superb - and the cost taken off the bill as an apology- can’t be fairer than that. Extensive and expensive Italian wine list. Friendly staff and worth a visit.
