This restaurant was my favorite restaurant during my 2 week trip to London, Venice and Italy. This exceeded my expectations. This is a Turkish Middle eastern restaurant in the Shepard market in London. We happened to be walking around this area as our hotel the Mayfair was right by it. The flavors were absolutely perfect! The right amount of salt, spices and warmth. I was super impressed. It was a very satisfying meal. The service was great. They were very attentive with water, drinks and clearing our plates. The gentlemen was very kind to suggest what I would like and he was spot on. I absolutely love this place. I highly recommend if you like savory dishes with flavor. The pictures of the food don’t do it justice as it literally one of the most satisfying meals I’ve ever had.

My visit to Sofra Turkish restaurant had its highlights, with flavorful food, but I was somewhat disappointed by the atmosphere and the limited menu. While the dishes I tried were enjoyable, I wished they offered a more authentic ambiance and a broader selection of traditional Turkish foods like manti and lahmacun to provide a fuller Turkish culinary experience.

An old favourite of mine from my (pre retirement) business days but last night it was me that paid the bill. Always enjoyable. Great food and service and had interesting Turkish wines both red and white. However I wont be trying Turkish coffee again anytime soon.

The staff and restaurant are most welcoming in an idyllic location. The food was excellent and well priced with a choice of wines that catered for most methinks. One has frequented this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. One comment being, it is best to book by telephone rather than via their website. 🙂

The food was great, atmosphere also lovely, especially when you can dine alfresco. The service was poor - kept forgetting things, also weren’t especially welcoming, made it seem like they didn’t need our business, no smiles or friendliness - hoping we just caught them on an off day and that it’s not always like this. Portions were fairly small when compared with other establishments. Feel like there is a LOT on the menu (perhaps too much?!)

I am amazed with the quality and taste of food at this Turkish restaurant. The ambiance is just incredible and the staff are friendly and welcoming. I am definitely visiting again and highly recommend this place for some nice Turkish cuisine. I have tried the vegetarian Musakka, lamb iskandar and Lamb shish as well as the fish and chips dish for my 6 year-old niece. Every dish was a success!

Very tasty food. I enjoyed Chicken liver appetisers. Very good customer service. I’d give 5 stars. Although I’m allergic to sesame and I notified the server. When I picked dish I asked if there’s any sesame. Gentlemen said it has none. Unfortunately it had sesame. It wasn’t pleasant surprise. Overall good restaurant.

Good service but the food was uninspired- cold bread, dry tagine, nothing to write home about at all. also many of the typical Lebanese dishes were not on the menu. I had the tasting menu, the felafel was hard and dry, like it had been made hours before and defried. As far as I know, ravines are juicy and come with some gravy. This was served absolutely dry though well cooked with boiled rice.

Lezzet:5, kalite/fiyat:5/5

Another good food outlet at St Christophers place. Primarily Turkish and Lebanese dishes but you can get a few Continental ones too. The mezzes, kekabs are quite authentic although not top class. The Sea food is good with prawns squid etc being quite popular after observing the neighbouring table orders. The kekabs I found a bit oily but within limits. Salads are refreshing and you have a fair choice available..Turkish tea is getting popular so try it with the meal or afterwards. Desserts have a limited choice but you can try some of the mid east sweets( very sweet) if you have a sweet tooth. !! The ambience is cheerful and the place is pretty full at most times particularily if you want to sit outside. Service is attentive and efficient.

Normally i reeally don't like Turkish restaurants abroad, but this one honestly quite good. I have been to many good spots in Turkey, and in the States as well, and i would say i just ate the best humus i had ever had. Also, i dont remember its english name but the main dish "köfte" was quite good.

Sofra is so underrated for its remarkably delicious dishes. You can even just barge in without any reservations. If you are going with a large group, a private room is recommended. Okay so we were served complimentary brown toast and hummus.

For starters:

Taboulah & Fatoush:

Haloomi cheese: mouthwatering , delicious and yummy. The flavour of the cheese flows into your taste buds just like how the music flows into your ears.

Mains:

Spicy meatballs: the meat is so soft. The salsa is so light. This dish is perfect. Every time I come to london, trying this dish is a must.

Chicken stew pot: comes with vegetables, perfect. Again, this is a must try dish in sofra

Chicken breast: huge disappointment, mediocre

Meat kofta: nothing special yet appetizing and tempting.

Desserts:

We were offered complimentary rahat Al halkoom

Muhalabiya: exquisite and unique, served along with coffe ice cream. This dish is a no match with other muhalabiyas.

Turkish tea: sweet and delectable!

Went there with friends on a Friday night to finally give it a try to a Turkish cousine. I can recommend the Turkish delight: tasty, delicious and not even expensive.

I also had a sip from my friend's Turkish wine. Really nice.

The service was a bit slow, but the place was pretty crowded - try to book a table in advance. On the other hand, waiters were very welcoming and friendly. The inside atmosphere is pretty smart and quite, even though all the tables might be full.

Tucked into a corner that sits behind Piccadilly and runs up to Curzon Street, near to Park Lane and Hyde Park Corner, is a gorgeous little area of central London known as Shepherd Market. While other nearby roads blend seamlessly into one another, Shepherd Market retains its own distinct identity: you walk ‘into’ it rather than through it; you are immediately struck by a difference and something a little special. I could say it was a haven from the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly yet that wouldn’t really be accurate. For arriving at Shepherd Market early evening when workers, set loose from their offices, cram into its small pubs and restaurants and spill out into its streets – even in winter – it’s not exactly ‘quiet’. Yet it is peaceful. You feel you have somehow escaped the madness of central London for a time. Despite the proliferation of fashionable markets popping up all over London selling artisan foods, Shepherd Market is no longer a market. Mayfair itself i

Just finished a perfectly nice dinner at the Mayfair Sofra but will never set foot in one again. You ask me why? Two reasons. They charge a cover of £1.50 per person at the Mayfair branch. When asked about it the explanation was that it's Mayfair and a busy branch. Full disclosure-if you read the fine print on the menu hanging outside by the door, it says they charge a cover charge. The second reason is that when our bill came they charged us for the regular meal instead of the "quickie" meal. Before ordering I asked the waiter if the difference I price between the two was the portion size and he responded that they are exactly the same. The only difference is that items on the "quickie" menu cost £3 less on average. Of course I ordered from the "quickie" menu, who wouldn't? When the bill came we were charged for the regular meal. We questioned the waiter about it and his reply was"oh did you mean to order from the "quickie" menu. Of course we did...we are not cheap but shy voluntarily pay more for the same exact thing. Once the waiter confirmed our intention he happily adjusted our bill without any problems. I'll give it to him, he gladly made the change but I can't get behind any restaurant that uses a rechnique like this purely to rnhance the bottom line. It's just plain old dishonest.

VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY Good!. So good. Even Serap, the server remembered us, and so did Ayhan. The chicken was so tender, and the rice was very good. The salmon stew was delicious. So are the mashed potatoes. Adrian was very rough, though.

On my recent trip to London, I generally found service poor at most restaurants. That was particularly noticeable here. They would not seat us upstairs because we had no reservation (fair enough I guess) but there was nothing accommodating about the dungeon, I mean basement. Tables stacked up, service uncoordinated. Treated like second class citizens, but still paying first class prices.
