Amazing range of options and the food was really filling too - as someone who eats meat I was hesitant to try as many vegan restaurants have disappointed in the past, but this place was a pleasant surprise! Very reasonably priced given the quality and location. Highly recommend the buffet option.

Ok, so I must admit, I have walked past Vantra on Oxford Street a number of times, intrigued by the signs outside advertising their extremely healthy offering, but I've never quite been brave enough to enter. As a non-vegi, why would I? But, as I was soon to discover, as a health food fiend, I definitely would!

The ultimate vegan hang out on Oxford Street. The atmosphere oozes hippy vegan vibes. Buffet is dished onto big round silver trays from a wide variety of dreamy vegan dishes in pots and bowls. The room is dark with heavy wooden chairs and candles throughout. The menu has lots of amazing drinks and if you don't want buffet they have some super yummy dishes on the menu - all healthy too! Dessert is some of the best I've had - so fresh, tasty and authentic. Staff are friendly and welcoming, price is super reasonable, vegans will massively enjoy this spot.

Oh yum! Such a peculiar place to eat lunch. Silver platters, wooden bark, cauldrons filled with vegan goodness and staff that follow the same mantra as the food they serve. If you have a serious aversion to vegan food, this place will convert you. It's not rabbit food, it's substantial, good-for-you, tasty food that won't break the bank or your heart.

The buffet style really allows you to sample dishes that you never would order on a regular basis. It opens your appetite and your mind to new things. Including seaweed mushroom stroganoff. Say whaaa?

Say yes.

Quite impressed with this place. Ultimate destination for health food freaks. This bright place kind of attracts you to try out their food atleast once. Had detox fruit juices and they were really really good. Definitely visiting this place again for trying out the food.

Go in with an open mind, and be prepared to be amazed by the novel dining experience within.Despite cutting out many food groups, the menu by no means cuts out flavour or choice. It's actually surprising- and slightly terrifying- how easy and delicious it is to eat wheat, gluten, meat, carb and cooking-free. The rich, organic ingredients in each dish, and the complexity with which they are used, are enough to sate even the ultimate carnivore or wild foodie. After my dish, not only was I extremely full, but also was able to start thinking about alternative ways of eating, rather than relying on the usual meat and starchy carb options. The décor of the restaurant is cosy and organic; you walk in, past the 'buffet' style options, and into the cosy, cocoon-like interior. The staff are gentle and smiley; I think you have to be somewhat zen to work there, or perhaps it's the nutritious snacks they get to snaffle on their lunch breaks doing them a favour.Anywho, we were promptly served by a nice young lady, who brought our drinks (chai latte with wholesome and deliciously sweet coconut milk) and their winter punch, which reminded me of a mulled wine in terms of its spicy amalgamation of flavours. For mains, I ordered a nutty Christmas special, with a pastry case made of pressed nuts and grains, and a creamy smooth interior. The flavours were intense and whilst a healthy dish, was extremely sating and filled the need for a stodgy dish. The contrasting textures were excellent, particularly considering no gluten, wheat or dairy had been used to make it.My friends went for the buffet, which is priced on how much it weighs. They excitedly sampled a variety of dishes and were similarly happily surprised at the tastes and textures they were met with, for a very reasonable £12 average per person. We also ordered the nachos, which were nutty and rich, and served with a smashed avocado dip, a pineapple salsa with a tart, sweet sharpness and -as requested by us - some seed-cheese, for a creamy finish. All in all, a very relaxed, organic and easy-going place which is kind to the wallet, as well as to your insides. Go with an open mind to experience a different kind of good food, as well as a wadge of cash; this place doesn't take card, so come prepared.

So after a lucky escape from the rat race that is "work" last week, I now have the opportunity to use my time doing things that I really want to be doing such as travelling, eating lots of delicious vegan food, working on my gains and blogging about it all, your congratulations are welcome and apologies if you have been waiting for your vegan fix blog as I wasn't able to to write last week, but I'm back..

And I am back to introduce you to this beauty, Vantra. I found out about Vantra a few months ago when I still hadn't made the transition to vegan but one of my healthy friends suggested that we meet there and I have been back time and time again.

First things is first, location, location, location. They are are just a two second walk from Tottenham Court Road, at the bottom of Oxford Street, which is very handy when you have been shopping and want to have something other than McDonald's or Subway. More of a healthy good for your soul type food, especially for anybody who has food intolerances as they cover all of them from lactose intolerant to people with Candida overgrowth.

The only thing that's a little frustrating, especially for somebody like me who never has cash on her is that they only take cash, so be sure to draw some out before you give these guys a visit, if not there is a cash point across the road so you are not totally screwed if you forget.

The place is fairly cosy and dimly lit which seems to be a theme with a few of the vegan places which I have been to lately but I quite like that, it all adds to the ambience plus if I could have it my way and people who know me know that after the sun goes down I would happily live in a candle lit world (preferable all Jo Malone), all I need is sunshine in the day and candles at night... can anybody relate? So like with most places Vantra had candles on each table, pretty standard really. The interior is very... organic. Tables and chairs are made from huge logs of what seems like pine tree, just cut into to make round chairs which are made more comfortable with used coffee bean bags that are complimented by the thick slabs of wood for tables which all embody that wholesome feel and add to the rawness of the place, it being a vegan and raw restaurant. It was busy as it is most times and a lovely hippy waiter created a free table for me to sit at and enjoy my food, in the midst of dominantly female dinners chatting away.

You can either get a buffet and pay for how much it weighs or get an El Carte menu, but on this day I decided to go for the buffet.

Everything is presented in huge metal and wooden plates with an Indian twang to it, mountains of delicious food all labelled to give a bit more clarity of what is what. I took my metal round canteen tray and started from the hot dishes and went for chickpea curry, vegan moussaka, steamed brown rice, broccoli salad, pesto brown pasta and some marinated aubergines all piled up on my plate looking reaaal good, I can sometimes go crazy with buffets and get a bit excited, never finishing it all but on this occasion I decided to go for quality rather than quantity. After, I weighed my plate and was told that it was just over £6 and to pay at the end, so I sat down and did the honours..

The chicken curry was creamy thanks to the coconut milk which is used to make it and has a kick from the distinct ginger that adds some warmth to the dish and the fragrant lemongrass undertone ties it all together beautifully. The moussaka which is made from chickpeas again, I am not complaining as it's full of protein and it was quite acidic for my pallet due to it being tomato base and as much as I love tomatoes they are quite acidic especially when cooked. It's worth mentioning at this point that their food is never microwaved and I believe most things are cooked in a steamer which gives them mega brownie points as the nutrition remains in the food as we all know or don't know how all nutrition is killed in food that is microwaved, so kids don't do it! Now back to the food, the marinated aubergines with peppers and other yumminess was my favourite. It's a cold dish and is packed with flavour and zing, a must try.

To top it all off I went for the chocolate genache with berry compote, this is by far one of the most amazing raw vegan desserts you can have. It being sugar free, dairy free, gluten free and still tasting just as good, if not better than the real thing, unbelievably smooth and so rich in flavour and consistency that melts in your mouth... no wonder people say chocolate is better than sex.

This place offers you to try at least 3 ingredients you had no idea about. Guaranteed! Thanks to the great location in the central London you can try delicious raw desserts which will make you go back. Staff is very friendly and willing to explain. Eating the main dishes is a real experience which your stomach might not be able t handle at first. Go for it. Go raw. Give it a go.

When I first went to Vantra, my excitement had no limit and I gave it a glorious rating of 5 stars. I then downgraded it to 4.5, until I had a dinner last night and decided that in fact 3.5 is generous enough. That is not to say that I am not a big fan of this vegan-friendly all-intolerances-friendly reasonably priced cafe in Central London (just few metres away from the entrance to the Tottenham Court Road station). The food is lovely, but let's be frank, not at the 5 star level!
The buffet does deserve an applause though: for £6.50 you get an enormous bowl of delicious goodness to take-away. The selection is wide, though appears to be rather repetitive: all the times I've been to the cafe there were exactly the same dishes to choose from. Luckily, there are quite a few yummy options in the existing selection: chickpea stews, lentils, aubergine moussaka, creamy mushroom stroganoff (soy milk based), mashed potatoes, brown rice, as well as various salads and greens, and finally sprouted seeds, sauces and toppings to finish off your veggie pile. All good and plentiful, but one thing that would make my Superfoodie life even happier is if Vantra added sweet potatoes to the above list! As for the moment, coconut chickpea curry is my absolute favourite and I always make sure I leave enough room for it on my heavily-loaded plate.
There is also a wide selection of juices, "voktails" and smoothies as well as raw or not-so-raw cakes, chocolate bliss balls and gluten-free brownies which I have yet to try, as I am usually too full on the mains and salads to carry on feasting.
For dinner last night, I have finally had a chance to try something from a la carte menu. Oasis of Sahara, or avocado, squash hummus, brazil nut falafel, coriander and sunflower seed cream wrapped in dehydrated flax crepe, was what attracted my immediate attention. My raw taste buds were not entirely convinced, though at the same time there is nothing bad I could say about the dish. It was probably the flax seed crepe that I found uninspiring, and the plate overall did not leave a long-lasting impression of any sort.

Couple of things I am not entirely happy with is the over-abundabce of soy dishes and drinks on the menu, soy being a problematic product for many ecological and environmental reasons. One such soy drink I tried was a matcha latte, which turned out disastrously bitter (probably, some second grade matcha used) and felt like drinking some sort of bitter soy foam.
Service can be a bit slow (unless you get a buffet, of course), but the waitresses are lovely and smile their vegan smiles to you.
I will come back for lunch here over and over, so I do look forward to some new dishes being included in the menu, and to sweet patatoes, of course!

This place is beautiful- the atmosphere of the space, mixed with the beauty of the food, it’s perfect. Vantra has the most delicious food I have ever eaten. From the Vchicken creamy curry to the Rainbow Salads, there is something for everyone to love. I have especially enjoyed that VChicken which had a perfect consistency mixed with the creamiest curry I have ever had. I had to get more than one plate.. two days in a row. Vantra made my visit to London the most delicious destination I have visited yet and I hope you give them a try.

An absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. We were looked after so well. I would recommend this place to anyone, not just vegans (I'm not vegan). The tea selection was incredible, as were the juices, smoothies and shakes. Great for those who are health conscious. Looking forward to going back :)

Had an amazing late lunch, I was impressed by the menu - many options and all delicious! Reminded me a lot of Asia and Bali vibes - one of the best places for vegan - veg food I’ve been in London! Definitely will come back!

Lovely restaurant with awesome taste, here you can find something for everyone. Most importantly for celiacs like myself, it’s 100% gluten-free and vegan. One of the few real restaurants with a lot of menu options for vegans and celiacs. If you’re in London, you should give it a try.

I've visited Vantra many times now. The food is always delicious, the portions generous but not too much. I love their unique menu, the diversity of flavours, and... of course... the fact that ethical, cruelty-free, planet-friendly eating is at the core of their operation. I'll keep returning.

The food was so delicious! I would say the best vegan restaurant, that we ate on our vacation so far! The drink range is huuuuuge !! And everything tastes delicious!! The waitress was nice and sweet and recommend some stuff we can try out. The location was sweet decorated and the bathroom smelled soo good (because there was everywhere incense sticks around). We had a copy place and had a great time!

Great service and great food as well. A modern take on traditional dishes with vegan substitutes. Impeccably balanced sauces and I didn't miss the chicken too. I had V.chicken satay and exotic curry which came with brown rice. One missing star is for the price I had to pay as I rather found them on the expensive side. I do understand Chinatown isn't the best place anymore for a great deal however might want to consider a pound of 2 off the menu. 13.8 and 7.8 would be ideal as it puts you into ease eventhough it isn't far off from the price now. I would've happily ordered another side which would easily make more per table ( my two cents 🙂). The smoothies are really worth the price and definitely would recommend. They have 6 pages of healthy tasty drinks menu! Overall a clean, friendly place and would recommend certainly for a visit. Thank you for making the evening "healthy and tasty"; the 2 words I never imagined would go together!
