You know summer has arrived when you get an invitation for “cocktails on the terrace”. Sadly for me the sun had well and truly taken his hat off on the evening in question and it was under a very grey sky that I headed over to the opening of the outdoor Terrace at the Royal Horseguards hotel. The weather may not have been playing ball but with the terrace decked in large canopies and patio heaters, you are guaranteed to stay warm and dry. There are also blankets draped over the wicker furniture to keep you extra snug as the evening goes on.
Wandering around the wonderful city of London you can’t throw a china teacup without hitting one of the many 5* hotels around. You might think that these elegant establishments are for those with oodles of money and wardrobes bursting with designer clothes but you’d be wrong.There are many ways that even I can enjoy a touch of luxury. Most hotels offer a high tea that is open to everyone and you don’t need to be a hotel guest to enjoy it. One such place is The Royal Horseguards Hotel situated near the banks of the River Thames on Whitehall Court.
Summer in the city calls for cocktails, nibbles and time spent outdoors. The Terrace at the Royal Horseguards Hotel is a great place to enjoy all three, as I discovered when I attended for drinks and canapes for an event last month. The space is gorgeous, the food delicious, and the staff knowledgeable and gracious. I'd heartily recommend vsiting if you're in this neck of the woods.
Last Monday I was invited down to the Royal Horseguards Hotel for an early evening of cocktails and canapes on their terrace. The Royal Horseguards Hotel is located near Embankment tube, in a building that was once the Headquarters of the Secret Service. It’s a stunning building, with a great view of the river and the London Eye – it would be great to see what the riverfront views from the bedrooms are like!

Summer means many things in London, and my favourite is the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy a lazy picnic. The only downside of laying out a blanket in Hyde Park and chomping on strawberries and cream is that you don’t have the luxury of service, and the champagne flutes are made of plastic. This summer the bubbly needn’t get warm, as The Royal Horseguards have launched a luxury version of the humble picnic and named it the summer chapter of The Terrace
We just had a wonderful lunch here. We had the set menu, and it was all delicious. We were served by Gonzalo who was super friendly and helpful!
Food was very nice but somehow not premium enough in my eyes to match the price. For example this dessert was quite dry. Service was great, though service charge appeared to be calculated wrongly as it was more than 12.5% so watch out for this.
Very pleasant restaurant in the middle of a very well decorated hotel. While food was good, it was a little underwhelming- especially for the price. Ordered the scallops tempura with lentil Dahl and wasn't sure what to expect. As the name suggests, the scallops were battered and deep fried and for me, completely lost the delicacy and freshness of the scallop which is a shame. I also thought the lentil Dahl was bland.
Ordered the roast rump of lamp for main and I enjoyed this. Lamb was cooked perfectly and was not too chewy. Ordered the hot chocolate fondant for dessert which was good. While I did enjoy the food overall, I probably won't return.
My partner treated me to a meal here for my birthday. The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and professional.
A lot of effort is made to inject flavour into the food. The prawns were perfectly cooked, the best I've ever had.

Beautiful interiors, not too over fussy, very British and love the design around horses and horse guards...We ate at the restaurant as part of a Birthday treat for my best friend. The staff were very accommodating, friendly and professional as well as masked 😷 up. We even got a lovely personal message on my Instagram page from the Hotel wishing my best friend a lovely birthday and happy to be a part of it...lovely touch
Dinner for four last week. Great food/drink and equally slow service due to a large party and limited staff. Two of us enjoyed the vegan Gratinated Cauliflower Steak and the guys loved their Slow Roast Rump of Lamb. It’s rare that I get to enjoy dairy-free desserts such as their Warm Chocolate Brownie and Vanilla Ice Cream. Gin and tonic is my go-to cocktail. It was fun trying their Beefeater Pink gin garnished with fresh raspberries and a bottle of good tonic water. It was a great way to rest our weary feet after a long day of sightseeing. I am glad that we made reservation’s for last Thursday.
A sophisticated and upscale cocktail lounge with a focus on craft cocktails. The mixologists skillfully crafted unique and visually stunning drinks that were a feast for the senses. The elegant ambiance and top-notch service made it an ideal choice for a refined night out.
Lovely looking place, really nice and cozy, lots of places to gather and sit for a relaxing pre-dinner drink. We had a voucher gift of a three course meal with champagne as an Anniversary gift. We loved the whole experience and would certainly recommend. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Take care when ordering water... ask for tap water each time you order more water, if that's what you want, otherwise you'll automatically get charged for bottled water. Otherwise all was perfectly good. 🌼
We visited this restaurant using a woucher code and were not disappointed. Service was excellent. Food was good, hot and tasty. Side dishes are charged as extra. As with any hotel alcohol prices are a bit steep. However, for a special occasion its worth it. The ambiance and atmosphere was good. We went on a Wednesday evening, restaurant was quiet.
An upscale and elegant steakhouse with a refined atmosphere. The premium cuts of meat were cooked to perfection and paired with exquisite sauces. The sophisticated decor and impeccable service made it a top destination for steak lovers.
