This was a very unique experience dining at an Ethiopian restaurant and it was a pleasant surprise. The pancake/sour dough was nice in the beginning but it felt like it got more and more sour. The chickpeas were one of my fav toppings
I never imagined I will have the privilege of sampling African cuisine until I found The Queen of Sheba. If you are looking for a unique culinary experience - look no further.
This small but beautiful place is very welcoming place with excellent staff and management and the best food that this city can offer.
They have a big menu to choose from and every dish will surprise you and leave you wanting more! They are very generous with their potions and they are extra generous with injeras. 😀
They also serve wicked African beer🍻
I highly recommend this place to you all of you are a group of friends or family. Enjoy the experience🇪🇹🐘♥️
Very authentic and cosy atmosphere, fantastic service, and of course tasty food. Take your time and savor it. Will come back here again. :-)
BOOK AHEAD. And be prepared for a delicious feast- the food and service is fantastic, the menu caters to meat eaters and vegans, and the atmosphere is perfect for a cosy (albeit, a little messy) intimate meal.
Had an amazing experience at Queen of Sheba. The staff are really friendly, the food supremely tasty and the ambiance is authentic. I cannot recommend this place enough. You need a spicy palate to enjoy this type of cuisine. Go forth and enjoy.
I must say it's never been on my bucket list to try Ethiopian food, but now that I have I'm all the better for it.
I've also learnt about the Queen of Sheba as a result and (hate to break it to you) she may not be Ethiopian (!).
Wherever she's from originally, its nice for her to have set up shop for good in Kentish Town.
Inside, the decor is distinctly Ethiopian with wooden carvings and ornaments adjourning the walls and there's no doubt the food is also a little different.
Dominating proceedings is the Ethiopian, sour dough flat bread called Injera. It's lovely spongey texture is perfect for mopping up the other dishes which also come served atop of injera lined trays.
We (Sarah M ) started with some fried chilli injera which was lovely with a sour and bitter taste, but ultimately proved unnecessary given the proceeding carb loading.
For mains we had a vegetarian selection with three dishes, one chickpea, one bean and one potato which were all very tasty. This was accompanied by a deliciously rich lamb curry that we injera'd the hell out of.
We were left well and truly stuffed which was a good thing given it was slightly on the expensive side. Still, well worth a visit for a change of culinary scene and the Ethiopian beer is good too!
I was really excited to come to the Queen of Sheba - very happy to have finally made it after living in the area for a year and a half. I've always walked by, thought the decor looked great and told myself I'll come one day.
The atmosphere is chilled, with an amazing incense smell greeting you as you walk through the door and 5 tables filled on a rainy Tuesday evening. Staff are attentive and friendly, clearly showing care and passion for the food created by this family-run business.
After visiting Lalibela just up the road, I was hell bent on having the baked crisp injira for starter as I really enjoyed that there. Here it wasn't anywhere near as crisp, but had a good flavour. Warning - it's veeerrry greasy.
We were keen to try a few different dishes for our main, but the mixed meat sharing dish for 2 was £40 alone, so we went for the hot lamb stew and a mixed vegetarian selection for 1 to share between us. The lamb was amazing, and a large portion, and we had an amazing time using the injira to pick up our stews and mix the different flavours.
For such a unique cuisine, I think it would've been good if the menu had a mixed meat / veg platter at £30 as we definitely would have gone for that and been able to try more flavours.
All in all - go, enjoy, try the spicy lamb.
This little cosy restaurant is a gem, a hidden treasure in London that I urge people to explore. The food is absolutely delicious. The service is excellent...in true laid back Ethiopian style, you come here to eat and savour the experience - not to be in and out quickly. Loved it, and if you are up to experiencing something different and exotic...you will love it too!
The place is a great hub for a good meal that will surely suffice your hunger. The way they serve the food is very unusual and a good experience. The food here is delicious and absolutely delectable. The food was mildly spiced but was very flavorful. I would surely recommend this restaurant for a great meal.
it serves you with very delicious food which is also presented very well. They maintain their standards by serving food with best of hygiene. The best kind of food which they serve is on the last two page of the menu unless and until you would like to order something unusual.
all in all, its a very good place to spend time with soothing environment and served with good food.
It’s like being transported to Ethiopia!!
Such amazing food at great value. Perfect for group meals out.
It’s a very laidback atmosphere and chill vibes, yet the servers still manage to be very informative and give great suggestions. Fully recommend the mixed selection, it’s so full of flavour and taste. Will definitely be back to this gem.
The food is probably the best Ethiopian I’ve had (including what I’ve tried in Canada and Spain).
The shrimp dish is to die for.
The local beers are fantastic.
Service is slow, but going with the local culture of just slowing down and being in the mood.
🚽 🚨 needs a renovation.
Lovely staff and cosy restaurant feel, most dishes are on the same theme with various spiced meat sauces served on a traditional bread/pancake. Whilst tasty I was expecting the flavours to be more fragrant if I’m honest.
Food was Fantastic - absolute Flavours!
Generous Portions, we shared the £45 platter between 2 and got a prawn dish. (prawns were very fresh, crunch and large - and a good portion size)
Ended up coming home with 3 containers of food (we are big eaters so we did our best but could barely finish it all). Was thoroughly enjoyed for Lunch the following day.
Staff are extremely friendly and accomodating.
Bill came to just under £75 including 12.5% service charge, this was great value for the experience and delicious fresh food.
Only downfall was that the Honey Wine was out of stock! :(
Will be going again, highly recommend!
A lovely Ethiopian restaurant with good service and good food. A great experience if you're not familiar with the dishes.
Enjoy 😊
Lovely little restaurant. We had the Queen of Sheba veggie platter. We were so full afterwards 🤣 Would highly recommend.
This is first place I have tried Ethiopia food, and I just fell in love with it.
My go-to dishes are Doro goulash.
I have also tried and love Doro & ingudai, Yebeg we't, samoas and ingudai tibs.
I have been in this place multiple times.
I am not giving it 5 stars because just because the food is not always consistent. And it's hard to book a table for dinner.
But it not going to stop me from going there again 😋
It’s my go to place for some peace and quiet since 2015. I love this place too much and the staff and owners are like family!
Their Shisha seating is very good with heaters too. They have ramadan buffet and the food was so yummy. Their menu has changed recently and they have introduced new food. Food is fresh and they do fresh juice as well. The inside seating is very comfy and a hygienic place.
Very rarely review a place but these guys gave me the urge. Easily the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever eaten. Love the staff; they’re so sweet and clearly care about the food and their customers. The food is served in a fun and communal way for a great vibe with friends or on a date. Particularly recommend the veggie sharing plate!
A beautiful place 😍 we had a lovely dinner here, I've been wanting to try Ethiopian food and I'm glad I did here! The injera was amazing! So many riche flavours and the staff were lovely
