When i first came, at 30 minutes before 12 noon, the place is yet to open. I came the second time at 30 minutes past 12, and it was already full. The waitress was very quick to assign me a seat, and gave a good order recommendation. My meal, beef soba, was also made very fast. The portion was fine, the beef was quite a lot, the broth was delicious, and the overall taste was as expected. Simple and perfect for windy London.
I ordered chicken katsu curry and the portion is huge for me :)). If you're not a big eater, i suggest you ordered 1 portion but add sides or rice, it should be enough for 2 people with tiny tummy space.
Super cute and quaint, Misato can be a blink and a miss in Chinatown. This place is best defined as a hole in the wall and delivers just right. Their pork katsu curry was incredible, as was the sushi that my date had ordered (according to him, ie). The pricing is easy on the pocket. The staff is cheerful and friendly. Only complain? I wish they had a card machine for transactions. Gotta give it to Misato for keeping it old school and rustic in the age of cashless transactions. Highly recommended.
Misato is one of the few budget friendly restaurants in Chinatown. This restaurant is perfect for those who want to try Japanese food or those who just crave for it. Portions are quite big and the food is excellent and freshly prepared, although the ambience and interior of the restaurant could be improved. We ordered Pork Katsu Curry Rice, Beef udon, and Katsudon each cost us around £6-6.50 only.
Misato is a hidden treasure at the start of Chinatown in London. Our first visit here was unplanned (we saw a big queue and just queued up) and have gone back multiple times since then.
Ambiance: Don't expect much on the ambiance and be prepared to wait for anything between 15 to 30 mins. But it is worth the wait :)
Food: We have tried out many dishes here but my favourite was the sushi Bento! Was great value for money and costed less than £10.
Service: They generally take your order already while you are in the queue so it saves time. The tables are bit cramped up and you have to share them with other patrons. But the food quality compensates for all this.
When in Chinatown@London you should definitely give it a try!
Dining at Misato brings me back to the days of being a student. But in the best possible way. It’s some sorcery that the restaurant is able to offer food as cheap as it is. In fact, Misato’s been around twenty five years now so they must have some formula worked out. I ordered the chicken torikaraage (£4.50) and a serve of six avocado maki (£2.50). There is a minor (optional) service charge, but this is an incredible value meal. Especially considering the location in Chinatown and wider Soho London. And the food is solid. Both dishes arrived lighting quick and are gigantic serves. The chicken has a nice crispy coating and the flavours are mostly there in the proper tasting meat. The maki roll is freshly rolled and tastes great. The sheer range in the menu is also a delight. No frills, just great times. Misato’s definitely on my list for returning based on high value for money, speedy service and a top location. Notes: there’s queues on busy days and it’s a cash only enterprise.
The grilled Saba with teriyaki sauce has mild flavor, just the way I like it. They have friendly staff, reasonable price, and generous portion. Highly recommended!
Great prices for central London and huge portions (rice dishes). Sushi not bad, satisfies the craving without breaking the bank. Definitely will eat here again when looking for a bite in the area.
Have heard some reviews about this restaurant, noting that it serves good food with very very affordable price and massive portion. It's true!
Awesome food! My favourite would definitely be the fried chicken there (so crispy!), but chicken teriyaki and pork katsu curry is also nice ngl... If you're looking for a cheap place to eat and for big portions (the rice dishes), this is definitely the place
Great little restaurant with pretty good prices for the portions! Even though it was busy we didn’t have to wait long to be seated. Staff was quick and friendly. The food was really good for the price point. I especially liked the tempura and inside out makis!
A great place to try Asian food! I have been coming here since I moved to London 7 years ago. The dishes are generously sized and very affordable, with most priced around £10 or less. Everyone I have recommended this place to has loved it, so go for it! Please click 'like' if you find this review helpful.
Best value dive in Chinatown with generous portions.
I've been coming here for almost twenty years, though the last time I was here could have been eight years ago. With the cost of living going up, I had been thinking prices for eating out were a bit high. I wondered if Misato was still around and thankfully it is. Usually there is a queue, but we were there around 9pm on a Thursday evening and only waited 5 minutes. I remember waiting for more than half an hour years ago as we would go at peak times - we were amateurs back then. :p
I had the chicken teriyaki and my friend had the fried chicken. Both were good. It's a great casual place - very student vibey and chilled.
I'll be going back and hopefully it will be around for another twenty years. I highly recommend Misato's.
Dropped by here to pick up some Chicken Katsu Curry for lunch. The service was friendly, prices were fair and portions were good. It's wasn't the tastiest Katsu I've had, but it was good nonetheless.
Read about this place online and both love good Katsu and we were not disappointed. It is a small and informal space but don't let that put you off. The food was excellent and well priced. Service was great too.
Soul food in the middle of China Town, small but nice. The prices are reasonable, a varied selection of dishes, the portions are perfectly adequate and the service is courteous and friendly. Unfortunately not barrier free.
It looks small from the front but opens up inside. We were looking for an affordable but delicious place in China Town. The menu had some things I hadn't seen at other places (cold udon which I had been craving for a while) and they seated us quickly. The menu is very cute with the pink! And the prices are very good for central. We got a sushi to start, my friend got a curry and I got the cold udon. Came out promptly and tasted delicious! Definitely my go to for a cheap bite in central!!!
An unpretentious Japanese restaurant, I think it's the best in the area. The food is good but nothing exceptional or out of the ordinary. A few smiles in the room from the waiters would have made the atmosphere more pleasant.
Such a good place to eat, reasonable prices for the area and good quantity. In my case, 5 people had dinner.
A great quick cheap eat in Central London.
We both had the regular chicken katsu curry. There was a large size option but we both agreed the regular was plenty big.
Flavour wise the dish was good. However the curry flavour was certainly not the same as what you would get at wasabi or yo sushi. I found it more citrusy and it didn't have little chunks of carrot or potato. I've not been to Japan so I'm not sure what the proper way to make it is but just pointing out the difference. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
I also ordered an Inari pocket which was larger than the standard size you would get in a supermarket or at yo sushi. Was really good and would defo recommend but maybe not if you've just had another big rice dish.
Overall I would go here again. It's a no frills bargain place to stop and eat while in Central London. Great if you're a tourist or a local.
As I was out without my daughter I didn't check if there was a baby change facility and I didn't notice any high chairs. Honestly though I probably wouldn't recommend with small babies and small toddlers. It's quite a tightly packed restaurant so not a lot of space for a buggy. On the other hand, older children would be fine here.
