Small restaurant, very busy. Food is good but a not that remarkable. Price is very inviting and the ambient is home-like. Will try again to revisit this review
This place is so unassuming from the outside that its easy to walk past it. The decor leaves something to be desired and is heavy on the pine wood look, it also features a super realistic 'fire' with coloured stones.
BUT you will forget the decor once you sit down and are greeted by the guy who runs the place. He is AWESOME. He gave us health tips in greek all evening and made the meal even better.
You can order only from a set menu with the options being meat, veggie and vegan. We opted for just chicken and the food started to arrive.
Some raw veggies arrived with little spinach parcels. This was followed by soup (which I wasn't a fan of but Steph liked it). Then came the dips. Oh the dips. I can't even describe what we were served (mainly because I don't know) but they were lovely. Slightly lacking in salt but served alongside fresh bread. NOM.
The 'final course' was chicken in a lemon, olive oil and oregano sauce with rice and peas and salad. It was lovely.
The whole experience wasn't one to be forgotten. It was something like being at a relatives house and being so much food you have no idea what it is but still, it was all lovely, healthy and tasted authentic.
Plus the set menu is less than £12 and a glass of wine, only £2.50.
You can't argue with that.
Tip - CASH ONLY
The exterior does not come close to the amazing, authentic, homemade cooking within. Set menu and cheap. Definitely a 'can't-miss' opportunity while in Clapham.
Don't let looks put you off this amazing place. True and delicious Greek food in ample supply.
Me and my Guitarist came here today.
One, if not THE best and friendliest family owned businesses we’ve ever been to. The food was incredible, and served quick. Our waiter was so incredibly attentive and kind. The atmosphere is very comforting - a good place for a Greek away from home. Also a good place for anyone at all. Definitely recommended. (We had the Beef Kofte with rice, Louis Potatoes, and the Lamb Souvlaki.
I had 30 mins to have lunch, and I ordered chicken suvlaki and its was superb! Everything done on time and very delicious! Coffee served with love and kind!
I have no words for how DELICIOUS the food at this restaurant is. Honestly. It was so tasty & the service was incredible. Do yourself a favour and order the feta with honey and the saganaki. By far the best I've ever tasted!! Next time I'm back in London I will be back. Thank you for making my friend's birthday lunch so wonderful.
They've changed ownership and honoured Louis with some dishes and the meal named after him which is nice. We haven't been back for a while so wasn't aware of any changes. Food-wise, would have preferred what it was before as it was more low-key and homely - although the new owners are also very friendly and food is still good. Prices have increased slightly which is fair enough and in line with everything else. I hope they continue to keep up the friendly atmosphere.
As a greek, I absolutely loved the gyros chicken wrap, great meat with chips inside! It will be my go-to place, lovely welcoming service as well.
Had an incredible meal! Absolutely recommend for anyone looking for fantastic Greek cuisine. The service and food were amazing and such a great welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back!
Service was terrific and owner very pleasant but outdone by the amazing flavors of the food. Such a great find! Food was great. Pork skewer was moist and flavorful. Had two of the grilled feta dishes- both superb as were other items we ordered. Highly recommended.
Fantastic Greek spot around my neighbourhood.
Got the Greek feast and it was definitely a feast! The dips were fresh and the pitta still had a nice warmth to it.
The skewers, kofta and lamb chops were grilled to perfection. Lovely crust on the outside whilst still juicy in the middle. The halloumi was also pleasant - not too salty.
Finished the meal off with Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts. Their coffee is also great too.
The food did take a bit of time to come, but is definitely worth the wait. If you're around the area and want some Greek grub, I'd highly recommend Sappho Meze Bar!
Went here with the weekending guys after a good workout. We were hungry and we got our fill. Really good food. Really good service. It's exactly what a local high street restaurant that serves food from a far off place should be. This will bring you outside the UK but deeper in London. I'm just rambling so go ahead and try it for yourself. Their dips are quite expensive though, but I guess that's understandable. If you have money to burn. Gone are the days of complimentary dips and sauces.
Been meaning to go for ages after friends have recommended and we were not disappointed. Amazing food and friendly, attentive service. The cutlets are juicy and the greek salad was one of the best Ive had, great to watch the world go by. Feast for 1 is huge and great value for money
