Absolutely love the food here. Beautiful ambience and great service. Will surely visit this place again.
Amazing place in London. I love the food. can’t wait to come back here again. Congratulations to the staff.
The Gong Bar has the best view and a very romantic setup. Fine menu collection and the staff is also very friendly. Being the hotel guests, we didn’t had to make any prior bookings.
I absolutely loved this place! The staff were unbelievably helpful and it was just amazing service, I had dropped my drink by accident and they gave me a new one with no charge! I would definitely recommend this place because the food, service, atmosphere and view was all worth it :)
Quelle Belle Vue! On a recent business trip to London and had to check this bar out as a priority! 52nd floor of The Shard - Wow! Best view in London! Really entertaining waiters doing their cocktail thing like Tom Cruise! Lobster rolls to accompany my champagne! Does life get any better!
Located on level 52 of The Shard, Gong is an Asian-themed cocktail bar on the top floor of the Shangri-La Hotel. Beautifully decorated and equally stunning views of London. An absolute must. The minimum spend at this bar is....
It’s not everyday that you find yourself sipping cocktails in the highest bar in Europe. More rare still, that you do so in in the company of bartending royalty. So it was with much excitement and anticipation that I accepted an invitation to a special evening at GŎNG at Shangri-La hotel at the Shard…
Arriving at the iconic building, I headed up to the Shangri-La’s reception on the 34th floor – pausing momentarily to take in the sweeping views across London...
Before being whisked up another 18 floors to GŎNG – the hotel’s sleek cocktail bar which imbibes modern Asian elements in its contemporary design. If the views lower down in the Shard are breathtaking, the panorama offered from this vantage point on the 52nd floor is simply unparalleled, stretching out over an endless horizon. On certain full-moon nights, you can even gaze out at the stars through the bar’s dedicated telescope!
A new cocktail menu at GŌNG has just launched – and if you need the perfect date night location then you’re going to want to read on. Eighteen original creations compose a cocktail journey through time. Each one is inspired by a stage in life, a familiar mood and a captured memory. From simple and carefree, magical moments, to daring and reckless pleasures; from confident and rich experiences, to memories of timeless treasures and accomplishments. GŌNG at the five-star Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London, is on level 52 and is the highest bar in Western Europe.
The GONG Bar is an amazing chill-out spot, with a very romantic ambience. The dimmed light gives it a very sophisticated vibe and at night the view of London all lit up is just incredible! as they say London literally comes to live at night. The GONG bar is a luxurious, sleek, Asian-themed cocktail bar with a breath-taking view of London, on the 52nd floor of the Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard. The GONG bar is accompanied by an infinity pool, which offers guest tranquil far above the noise and heat of the city. It has become a unique addition to London’s first elevated bar. Facing west across the city, the 11×4 meter heated pool features stunning view of St Paul’s cathedral, the London Eye and Westminster, providing the perfect spot to enjoy the iconic vistas. Perfect place to feel special. The Man took me there for a birthday treat.
We did have to wait for 45 minutes in the lobby as they don't take bookings but 2 elevators later and we were high in the sky on level 52.
The waiting staff are lovely and offered to put us on the waiting list for a windows seat, which we moved to within 5 minutes. The view was fantastic. . . As were the very expensive cocktails and never ending supply of free bar snacks.
Ok, my cocktails were £17each and there is a minimum spend of £30 pp but the way I see it is - it's the price of a ticket to 'The View' (viewing room at top of the Shard) but with cocktails thrown in.
I had a 'Silk Road ' and a Turkish berry chocolate one. They were both beautiful and wonderfully presented.
The only improvement I would make is to have gaps by the windows so you can walk around to see the whole view without getting in somebody's personal space.
Definitely worth a visit for that special evening. (Tables are yours for 2 hours guaranteed, longer if there is no one else waiting)
We had drinks at Gong after dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The bar is very cosy, has beautiful interior and feels very luxurious.
We sat in the third row for about half an hour before being moved to a window spot. The view from the windows at night is breathtaking and so special.
We had cocktails and enjoyed these too. They are definitely overpriced (starting at 25 pounds) and don’t taste as special as the price and menu description suggests.
The service was exceptional though and we received complimentary olives and nuts.
We feel the overall experience justifies the price!
Views were immaculate 5 stars. Food the shrimp tempura was 5 stars the California roll sushi was 4 stars. My main course and the most expensive the Australian Wagyu with truffles was such a disappointment the cut had lots a fat I couldn’t even chew through it 2 stars. This place is definitely worth the visit just for the beautiful views of London!
Th8s is by far the best view of London. 52 floors above in the Shard the atmosphere is exceptional. A quiet upscale lounge with great drinks and food. The shared platters are a great combination. Service was great. Yes it’s expensive but worth it.
We visited the wonderful venue for few drinks. We are usually very picky but we were impressed by the quality and taste of all the different drinks we had. Stunning service, the waiter who looked after us tonight was just amazing and delivered a proper service by paying attention to all the details and all our needs, I wish I asked for his name to mention him, great job. Definitely recommend and will definitely be back! Thank you
Stopped for a cocktail while visiting from America. The space is beautiful! You can see most of London from the top. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The prices reflected the location with a couple of the cocktails reaching over 50 pounds each. Know that before you go. We enjoyed ourselves!
I had a Cocktail Masterclass here and it was such a good experience. We booked this through virgin experience and we were in a small group with two other girls. The view was absolutely amazing and the host was very kind and humble. We made variety of cocktails. I’d wanted to go back but I can’t seem to find the option anymore!
The 360 view from the highest building of London is stunning. We booked a table at sunset and seeing the sun progressively disappear was just what we wanted. The asian cooking is delicious. The prices are quite expensive and the dishes are meant to be shared. So if you’re looking for a substantial meal, it’s maybe not the right place for you, but if you’re looking for a very nice place with an amazing ambiance (view, music, etc) and very good food, i recommand it to you! The only downside is that you can only stay for one hour and a half and waiters are very strict about it, but thankfully the service is really fast so you don’t waist to much time waiting.
Great customer service- asked the waiter to recommend us four different the best cocktails as the choice huge. The cocktails we got were not only tasty but also looked interesting. The food was nice- we ordered few different things also recommend by the waiter. Asked for a table by the window for a family get together and got one in a good spot inside the restaurant.
10/10 recommend coming here. Yes the drinks are pricey but you have to expect that. It’s called expectation management (that’s in response to some of the negative reviews on here). The service was impeccable and we were treated like royalty. Espresso martini was divine. We booked a reservation here for cocktails for after the London marathon and it was a highlight to the trip. Just be warned they do have a dress code.
Absolutely one of a kind bar, with amazing drinks, brilliant staff and a great atmosphere, of course with a view to die for. Even when the bar is busy and window seats are full, you are put onto small tables to drink and then asked if you’d like to move to a window seat when it comes available. The prices reflect the location, service and atmosphere perfectly.
Will be coming again very soon.
