Went for the Sunday buffet. Nice place not very big. Food was average and not much choice for a buffet. Service was quick and staff friendly.

Stopped for lunch.
We were given a table even though it was close to closing time...
Excellent butter chicken and delicious salmon tikka.
Loved the dal.
Good Naan.
Enjoyed the quietness at lunch since dinner time can be packed.
One of my favorites when visiting London.

Just to be clear for everybody what kind of place will you visit.
Me and my wife had a dinner yesterday. The place was quite busy but they had only a few staff member who looked very tired and unhappy. After we finished our meal we spend a little time outside when on of the staff member came out.We asked him/her about the night and we told to him/her that he/she looks very tired. After we started to chat.He/she told us the furthers:
They are paid daily(this amount barely the minimum) without service charge for 8-10 hours work and the toilet cleaner do sometimes 12 hours, wich is under the minimum wage.
Probaly they get less cash tips what they should.
Another thing the owner doesnt pay on time regularly.Couple people of the staff are still waiting for 2 months salary there is one person who for 3!
A few people from the ex employees coming back to ask what is about their February or March salary.
When they can do , they dont pay the holiday money and of course most of the staff dont get contract even after 2 months.
If the manager has a bad day he punishes the staff for this.He can be very upset if his staff doing even a minor mistake and he let himself that kind of behaviour what he shouldnt, though he doesnt pay for his staff on time wich is in my opinion not a little mistake from his side not talking about his attitude.
If somebody asking from him that kind of question "When can I expect for my salary ?" He lies, laughing or saying that "I cant do anything" even when one of his latest and the most reliable employer asking him with tears of his eyes.
Enjoy your meal in The Red Fort

This is a fine dining place in central london. I did not find the interior fancy though. The food was okay, nothing special. I went for the fixed 3 course meal. The mushrooms were tasteless. Paneer was good and gulab jamun was amazing. Not worth the money imo.

Great ambiance and service. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Solid work from the som on the wines as they were great and we were different than we might have selected. Not the best in London but very good.

Under the stewardship of Chef Mohammed Azid, the Red Fort became famous for its amazingly good Moghul Court and Luknow cuisine. It attracted politicians, media execs and business types and had a very loyal customer base. It's critical acclaim almost made it an institution for awhile. It was also one of my most favourite restaurants in the UK.
Unfortunately, after twenty plus years, Azid has moved on and the new chef has changed the menu to reflect more pan-Indian food. It is still predominantly North Indian and offers rich, full flavoured and interesting food. However, this change has made the Red Fort less unique and a little more ubiquitous in its menu offering. The consistently high standards have also been lowered somewhat and some of the dishes can be a little underwhelming. The Michelin stared Amaya, Benares, Gymkhana, Rasoi, Tamarind and Quilon are, in my opinion, all markedly better, more exquisite and offer a more developed and innovative cuisine. That said, the Red Fort generally remains a very good Indian restaurant and offers glimpses of a greater past history. The decor is modern and sophisticated and the waiters are generally very good.
The Red Fort has a slightly pricey À La Carte Menu, but the Pre-Theatre Menus are actually good value for money.
Asianhawk recommends: the Dumpukht Biryani, the Ajwaini Sea Bass, the Hariyali Black Cod, the Hyderbadi Bhuna Gosht and the Murg Tikka. At present, the Nihari is not on the menu, but if you see it on any promotional menus, I strongly recommend it.
Halal.

I was with my wife when we stopped by this place and we decided to eat our lunch here. Since then, we are their regular customers. The owners were friendly and made our naan and chapati fresh, which were very tasty and great to watch. Curries were simple, homely and well spiced. Rice chicken karahi are very delicious.

As good as it gets.. Unlike many other Indian restaurant on almost all major streets in London, I was highly recommended this place by my friends. We had been there on a busy Friday evening and was quiet happy to get reservation at peak hours. Being Indian, I always had been fussy about quality of Indian food being served in eateries, but I couldn't find a better quality and taste we had at Red Fort.
The starters were amazing!! We ordered Hara Kebab, Soft Shell Crab, Hariyali Jhinga (prawns) and Lentil dumplings. All were very different in taste, presentation and style of cooking. Menu is well designed with a high quality selection of vegetables, meats, game and seafood. Starters priced between £6 – £12 is fair considering the portion size.
Our mains included in-house speciality Dumpukht Biryani (lamb) cooked in authentic Hyderabadi style, Lucknowi Murgh (spicy chicken curry), Awadhi Hiran (venison) are to find on menu in Indian restaurant, Saunfian Paneer Tikka (cottage cheese) and Subz Kofta (mix veg dumplings). All were very tasty, esp the biryani which was a total treat in a steaming pot.
Manager was very kind to allow us to take a copy of the menu signed by their head chef Azadur Rahman. it was our anniversary so thanks for the relic we received.
Desserts were a good selection of few hot and cold delicacies like Gulab Jamun, Mango Kulfi and Funky Pie.
Service was flawless and unobtrusive with adequate help coming in recommending dishes for an unforgettable evening. Well worth asking their opinion.
Wine list was very extensive covering almost all major wine producing countries. I was almost lost in such big selection and asked wine sommelier to help us out once again. Well, who could have chosen a white wine from Turkey, so perfect to start with and a red wine Marichal Reserve Tannat from Uruguay. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience. Hope to dine there soon.

What a place, I came here wanting a basic Indian curry, as walked away with the best feed in ages, each dish was very different and was amazing in taste.. The breads are awesome with 5 different types.. I recommend that if you are in town then you must go here!!! They also have a great cocktail bar down stairs

The Red Fort has been around since 1990, and its upmarket take on Indian food was fairly bold in its day. However it has had a considerable variety of chefs over the years. The menu sounds appealing, with various unusual dishes such as monkfish tikka. I a

My husband decided to be romantic this year and took the pains to prebook dinner at this restaurant and he couldn't have done any better. Excellent service, the vegetarian set menu was just a perfect combo of veggies, paneer, dal and chawal - right quantities for 2. Have to say the Hara kebab starter was one of the best I have tasted. Mango kulfi was out of the world. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and have to thank them for the Red rose at the end to finish the perfect dinner

Great quality indian restaurant with authentic food right in the heart of Soho (literally opposite Soho theatre). The starters are really really good, the mains are great and everything but can't recommend the starters enough. Drinks wise there is a standard beer selection as well and wine and a cocktail list. Have been there several times both as 2-3 people and large groups. They have been very accommodating of large groups (more than 20), with a speedy service. So I would definitely recommend this place.

The food here is amazing. Do not expect bland food - these guys know what they are doing. The service was very attentive and slick. The decor was very well thought out as was the location: tucked away in Soho Square moments away from the hustle of Oxford Street but quiet enough to enjoy your meal. The manager made us feel very welcome as did the chef who took time out to visit our table at the end of our meal so we could pass on our compliments to him direct. He also shared with us some cooking tips! All in all a very classy place. We will visit again.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to! The cool atmosphere; from the music to the design and look of the place had made it a lovely relaxing vibe to enjoy my meal with friends. The food was incredible and it's in a great location too. So if you are shopping nearby in Tottenham Court Road, it's not too far to walk. I honestly recommend it to everyone for a lovely meal!

Had an excellent, high quality meal in a beautifully decorated restaurant. Every dish is meticulously created with wonderful flavours that are not too heavy. This is a must visit restaurant for the best occasions. The service was attentive, professional and friendly. Will definitely visit again.

Outstanding food; however ... the service was incredibly slow (1 hr 20 mins until appetizer) and the restaurant added several extra charges to our bill (charged us for 2 baskets of bread (not requested) -- acted like they were giving us a free round of drinks to apologize for the delay and then charged us for 1/2 of the extra drinks, etc.). They were rude when we disputed the charges at the end, but ultimately agreed to remove the extra charges. Beautiful decor -- and a great place to meet friends on that front alone.

Superb dining experience. As a foreign visitor, I had been strolling around Central London all day, tired and famished. I chanced upon Red Fort--it was perfect. The ambiance was soothing, the food far beyond expectations. But here's the real reason why I'm writing this review. As a world traveler, I was thoroughly impressed with Red Fort's excellent service, the finest I have ever received--friendly, courteous staff always ready to assist. If you are seeking to dine in a quiet, romantic, relaxing spot that serves beautiful wines and flavourful food, Red Fort is where you should go. I'll definitely give it another visit next time I come to London.

My favorite indian restaurant in London. If you love Indian cuisine, and like to try things other than curries, then you must try this! A huge variety of food and drink to choose from , exceptional service, great atmosphere in the heart of Soho and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend to check it out because it continues to amaze me everytime I visit!! +++++

The food was amazing but to expensive for my taste. Is a good place for a date or something similar but not what I recommend for night out with friends. I tried out there vegetarian dishes and I love them everything was fresh and delicious. Only thing holding me back from go there is price otherwise I would have been there everyday.
