Quite simply the best food I have ever tasted. Every bite better than the Last. Still burping lime pickle from the spuds. Worth the pilgrimage from Northampton to go there. The bucket list getting lower after today.

Quite simply the best evening out i continually have when in London involves Max’s. The atmosphere exudes the love for what he does and passion for the all mighty Sandwich ! Before you make the terrible mistake of writing off a Sandwich for dinner alongside a nice cold beer, keep this in mind, this will be the best, and most surprising culinary decision you will make in a long, long time!! Put me on death row and Max better make himself available for my last Ham, Egg & Chips!

It might seem strange to have a sandwich for dinner; even more so for a kitchen to lavish this much care and attention on them. But it’s entirely in keeping with the tradition of a one-dish meal in an edible wrapper, from the Cornish pasty to the fish-and-chips supper. The real oddity isn’t why Max’s sandwiches are so goddamn delicious, but why we’re so willing to accept lesser, second-rate, subpar sandwiches the rest of the time.

Lovely shop, I tried the egg ham and chips and I couldn't eat anything during the rest of the day, super filling! and the booze was nice, gin and tonic for starters!

These are no ordinary sandwiches. First up, as the sandwich board says, they are hot. Secondly, they are basically a meal sandwiched inside a ciabatta. This is a Good Thing.

Amazing sandwiches with focaccia and a plethora of ingredients. A blessing that it is five minutes from where I live. You have to visit and try it all. The service is great - friendly, kind and relaxing

HOT SANDWICHES AND BOOZE TIL LATE - MUST BE WILLING TO GO TO N4.

That's pretty much all you need to know about Max's Sandwich Shop run by former Salt Yard FOH and Le Coq GM Max Halley. He's opened a lively little joint in Crouch Hill that slings out hot sandwiches with a healthy side order of alcohol to a funky soundtrack. Whilst in the neighbourhood (which I never thought would happen), we popped in for a couple of sarnies.

Beware - these are big sandwiches. After a couple of arancini balls, we were defeated by Chris' Infamous Robocoq (there's a sentence) - Confit Chicken, Chicken Liver Parfait, Chicory, Sweet Potato Fries and Wild Garlic Salsa falling out of two chunks of foccacia. What's Your Beef All About was a tad too rich and salty for me, but a third team member arrived in the nick of time and polished it off, slutty gravy mayo and all. Gin & tonics and beers from Beavertown & Kernel went down a treat, and the music was right up our street.

If I lived slightly closer, I would be in here on a weekly basis. Great fun, highly recommended.

Check out the Faltering Fullback's sprawling treehouse garden whilst in town too.

Two figures were sat by the window and as soon as I entered Max’s, I was greeted with big cheery hellos from them. They gave me the choice to pick which table to take a seat at. Soft lighting from the quirky grey mache lampshades, wooden tables with sufficient space between them and cladded walls made up the restaurant. The decor was just right with the colours and a nice touch was the few vases of roses and plants dotted around. Let’s get onto the main event. Hot sandwiches on a cold winter’s day! There are only four items on the menu, one which is the dessert. For the veggie option, Max told us that he wanted to have something different and just as a main event as if it was a meat option. He said that he did not want the regular mushrooms, goat’s cheese, nuts and beetroot that are normally offered to vegetarians. Instead, there is The Spaniard. Three big sweet onion croquetas together with baby gem lettuce, sweet herbs, lime pickled onions and Morunos mayo. What a wonderful combination, it definitely works! They are called croquetas because the filling is made of Bechamel sauce instead of potatoes that are used for croquettes. The other two sandwiches went down well too. The Ham, Egg ‘n’ Chips had slow cooked ham hock and the shoestring fries had the same thinness and crispness like crisps. To call them sandwiches really does seem like an understatement and does not do them justice. It is a real filling meal with quality ingredients. The only way to brac

Best Sandwiches Ever!!! Made the trip to the shop when down in London on holiday with the family (11, 8, 5 yr olds) after seeing Max on channel 4 couple years back. The pilgrimage was well worth it! We had Lasagna sandwich, Caeser Sandwich and Ham, Egg and Chips sandwich and all were out of this world. The Spuds with pickled stuff and katsu sauce was also amazing. Staff were spot on with nice chilled way about them and took on the kids. Would be there every week if didn't live 500 miles away.

Max's Sandwich Shop is outstanding from the time you wait outside to the very end. I particularly enjoyed the service from James on the day I went. Make sure you get a ticket at the door that will save your place in the queue. Enjoy the Mac and cheese balls, the chicken wings and the specialist sandwiches I had that day which were the chicken chips and egg sandwich, the Max's monster munch and an ode to adana. All spectacular mix of flavours! They know combinations of flavours and I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who wants the best sandwiches in london!

I am disappointed! Now my life is ruined. And I truly regret visiting this place. Wherever I go, whatever I will eat, no sandwich will be the same anymore! It was too delicious O.o amazingly good. Freshly served and so appetizing I trully will miss it when coming back home. And the service was good too! 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆 🦡🦡 🇲🇽

Stopped by for a quick sandwich after months of wanting to visit. First of all, the service is unbelievable. Friendly, accommodating, and warm. You feel like you are sitting at a friends house. The sandwich was beautiful and surprisingly filling, they were also very accommodating to my allergies. Washed it down with a glass of cider at the cosy window seat. Will definitely be back.

It's got a mini pub vibe. Staff very friendly and service can't be faulted. The sandwiches are huge so make sure you go with a good appetite.

What a taste explosion! This is the kind of sandwich spot you hope for when you think of sandwiches. Also, I didn't go expecting to get wings, but the toppings intrigued me, so I had to try - and was I glad I did! The rich sauce with the pickled onions wasn't something I would have imagined with wings, and I feel like I've been eating wings wrong my whole life now.

Lovely little cafe/sandwich shop. Eat in or take away. There's always a bit of a wait as the sandwiches are so popular and rightly so! Epic portion too. Try the chicken wings if you've got room. 😋

We have been wanting to visit Max’s Sandwich shop for as long as we can remember, and TODAY was the DAY!! 🤩 A very cool sandwich shop in Crouch Hill, a small yet constant queue outside speaks echoes for how good this place was going to be! Inside, awaiting you is some of the friendliest and nicest service you will ever receive! Honestly, the lads working today were absolutely top notch - funny, helpful and just looked liked they really enjoyed doing what they do!! Decor around the shop is eye catching and often very very funny, you find yourself being drawn to something new between each bite of your sarnie! ✊🏻👏🏻 The menu was right up our street - interesting, fun and full of different flavours and textures! It genuinely was difficult to make a choice, but it just gives us even more reason to go back again and again!! Our fave things: the sandwich was truly epic, every bite felt like it chucked up new flavours and combos… if you go to one place for brunch/lunch in the next few weeks, make sure this is it!! 📍🚇| 10/12 mins walk from Finsbury Park station.

What fabulous sandwiches!!! Absolutely outstanding. We had a side of wings to start, which were perfect. So crunchy, with a fantastic dressing and slices of pickled onion (beautiful pink ones, not the brown ones you get from the chippy!) Then the sandwiches - just amazing. If you go, try everything that's on that days menu. The focaccia was light as a feather and the fillings - Ham,egg & chips; Chicken Caesar and lastly Spring rolls. They were a revelation. Service was fabulous and the whole place has a really friendly and relaxed feel. Dog friendly too, which is an added bonus. Make plans to go, as it's somewhere far too good to miss.

Sandwiches filled right to the brim - you will have to accept that it'll get a little messy. Small menu but well varied so should cater for any taste/diet - it is a small place so we were lucky to get a table. Definitely lived up to the hype.
