An excellent ‘Thai Irish Pub’ in the heart of London. Very sociable and delightful bar staff. Very helpful staff and the food (Thai) was delishous. Well recommend a place to visit when your next looking for some place different! 😋🍺🍽🥃
We hired out the snug for a Christmas get together with friends. Was perfect for the 10 of us, very cosy and Christmassy and a great atmosphere with live Irish music in the background. We had our own hatch and bell direct to the bar and staff were attentive and friendly...great service. We also ate from the Thai kitchen, very tasty authentic thai food, no one was disappointed with their choice. Thanks for a great night Mc & Sons!!
Truly one of the best. Intimate and friendly, beautiful design and atmosphere, and great Thai food and drinks - highly recommend!
One of the very best. Superb service. Wonderful Thai food. Excellent Guinness. Really do love this place. These guys know how to do great pubs.
🚇 Southwark
🍺 £5.60 Pravha
❤️ A traditional Irish owned pub that mixes Irish hospitality with the flavours of Thailand.
.
Nearest tube stations are Southwark and Borough, both are a five minute walk.
.
The building is Victorian with a gorgeous dark green facade and beautiful detailing around the upper windows.
.
The interior of this pub has an authentic Irish charm about it. The walls are adorned with family portraits, memorabilia and photographs of Irish life. This is a good size pub which has beautiful woodwork throughout. At the a front of the pub is a wonderful snug complete with a drinks hatch and there is also a beer garden at the rear.
.
The beer choice is full of well known favourites and the Guinness here is well celebrated. My tipple was a pint of Pravha which was great and under six quid. The food here is Thai and like the Guinness, reviews are very good.
.
I visited on a Saturday lunchtime and the pub was quiet which was impart due to the rail strike that was on that day. There were a couple of tourist groups in from both Japan and America and also some local punters too. I had a little chat with one of the staff, he was a top fella and very personable.
.
Lots of positives to report from @mcandsonslondon . This backstreet gem really lived up to its billing and offers a great pub experience. We need to show these independent pubs lots of love in this current climate. So if you’re in SE1 make sure to pay them a visit.

Nice range of beers. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere
Absolutely fantastic thai food, probably the best I’ve had this year, but the staff were even more lovely than the food! Super friendly, made the whole experience six ⭐️. I’m so sad they don’t do deliveries, but the food was so good I had to go again for lunch today (£7 for a box, 12-3pm) - it did not disappoint. The draft beers are also very refreshing. Would definitely be going back (again) soon!
For a group of 2-6 friends: would recommend booking the small room-ish area next to the till. Very quiet and very cozy.
I'm a big fan of all the mc and son owned pubs in London, but this one has the best Thai food. It's a busy, friendly bar in the evenings with lots of atmosphere and live Irish music Saturday nights. The decor is modern traditional and staff are always lovely and friendly too. Good selection of beers etc. A firm favourite
Outstanding pub with a great Thai kitchen. Very cool decor with lots of old Irish and Thai pictures and a good soundtrack! £6.50 for a Staropramen
Great pub with friendly staff & Thai food during the week. £8 for a decent bowl of either rice or noodles & then a choice of Thai food (2 meat & 1 vegi). We were there on a Wednesday lunchtime & by 12.30 there is a fair number of people eating there.
Really good vibes in this Irish pub just by borough station. It has an interesting extensive Thai food menu and good beer selection! There is even live Irish music every Wednesday and Saturday too. If you are around the area, you shouldn't definitely stop by!
Fast becoming one of my favourite pubs in London and a crime that I didn't pay more attention to it when my old job used to be literally round the corner.
A warm, welcoming vibe the moment you step through the door, with a smell of Thai food blowing throughout the pub from @johnnyricethai, it's an inviting space to unwind. Never too crazy in here whenever I've been, but I can imagine it was once hectic when commuting was in full flow.
We went here after my 27 mile walk the other week, hottest day of the year, and the AC was pumping. Probably the coolest pub I've been in, completely contradictory to its cosy exterior, you'd assume sweatbox, but it was perfect to absorb 8-9 pints of Guinness.
Which leads me into the main attraction, the pints. A varied craft beer range, from the Windmill Tavern team (behind Jack's, The Ring, Kings Arms), but the Guinness pours impeccably here. Absolutely brilliant. The even had the 0.0 can dispenser thing previously, the dedication to a good pint here is unquestionable.
I'm not too clued up on the history of the place, I know they took it on in 2017 but the building itself was a pub long before that (research says est. 1818). They say the name and premise "is built on the memories and lives of the Mc Elhinney’s with their heritage adorning the walls with pictures of the family through the generations. Wander in and you might even find a member of the family itself propping up the bar, or pulling a pint".
Building history knowledge might be limited, but the history once you're through those doors is everywhere. Even a good central beam bone to slap on arrival.
It's walking distance from Southwark Station, a stones throw from Waterloo in one direction along the cut, or the other direction from London Bridge via Flat Iron Square/Borough Market. An often overlooked area to bop around, but there's plenty to see and do. Just be aware they're closed on Sundays, because nobody goes into town on Sundays.
