Fantastic atmosphere, food and service. Not cheap but well worth it! I go whenever I can and have always had a fantastic experience. The service is also great, all waiters are on point
The vegetarian maki rolls, tofu steak, sizzling mushrooms and rice are all great choices at Nobu. They great every guest with a loud group welcome in Japanese called Irasshaimase. The bento box and their homemade lolipop deserts are amazing as well. Great service/ ambience.
This is my first first to a Nobu and I quite enjoyed it. Nice bright setting with plenty of natural light, service was great and the food was delicious. Everything was beautifully presented and looked like the chefs had given thought into the dishes.
Nobu Park Lane is not quite as good as Nobu Berkeley mostly owing, in my experience, to the poor acoustics and oversized tables that make conversation difficult. Having said that, it is still a fantastic night out and reliably good in terms of food, drinks and service. I highly recommend the lychee martinis (although all the drinks are good) as a pre-dinner warm up. On the food menu, the have a wonderful selection of black cod (also the miso is still my favourite), soft shell crab tempura, yellowtail tuna sashimi with jalapeños and pan fried Dover sole are all on my 'must have' list.
So while not as good as the Berkley Sq one, they have some fabulous treats organized for you. Black Cos comes in more varieties than you can imagine- and not just in Miso Sauce. Why would anyone even want anything besides the Black Cod in Miso Sauce is beyond my comprehension. Their pan fried Dover sole is divine and soulful! You are likely to come across a lot of diners here who are repeat customers- why wouldn't they be with a kitchen like this.
Nobu Old Park Lane, as well as its sister restaurant on Berkeley Street had previously held a Michelin Star for a long period of time before they were both demoted in the 2014/15 guide. I wonder how much that demotion has actually impacted on their business. Judging on our recent visit on a Saturday night, I would guess not very much. The restaurant was packed with young, hip and trendy with girls in outfits so skimpy you wonder if their intention was to indulge in naked sushi. Then again, maybe I am turning into an old foggy. The original Nobu London opened in 1997 and it is a testament to the brands power and unique food that it remains relevant in today’s fickle, trendy dining scene. The website does not advertise it very well, but the restaurant is located in the Metropolitan by COMO hotel on Park Lane which location provides a lovely backdrop if you are lucky enough to snare a window seat with views of Hyde Park.
I really look forward to my lunches and dinners with Angie, she's one of my favourite bloggers and someone that I really look up to; she's also a whole bunch of fun and knows the best restaurants in London. . Pretty good recipe for a perfect bloggers lunch date if you ask me. Add the fact that we had decided to go to Nobu, Old Park Lane for the London Restaurant Festival menu in association with Bookatable and I knew this was going to be a hit!
I remember when I was younger the idea of eating raw fish seemed quite strange and at that time it wasn’t hugely popular in the UK but in my late teens eventually sushi boxes started to take the place of sandwiches, Yo! Sushi became a regular haunt and I started to fall in love with Japanese food. My sister was my partner is sushi-crime and we loved the fun of the Japanese ‘Kaiten’ and sharing selection boxes from Marks & Spencer and other high street places. But soon our fondness for sushi rolls meant we wanted to try the real deal. Back then there wasn’t the plethora of sushi restaurants in London that there is now but we set our sights on the very best…Nobu, Old Park Lane. Once there we clumsily held our chopsticks and we feasted on the freshest succulent sashimi, marvellous maki rolls and crisp shrimp tempura. And then the black cod arrived, the delicious flesh of the fish marinated in miso, had a sweet, buttery taste on the tongues of us young sushi novices…it was incredible…that was it…we were hooked. I’ve now revisited Nobu Old Park Lane many times, always remembering it was the first time I ever had proper sushi…But Nobu has become a bit of an addiction for me and not only do I also love the Berkeley Street branch in London but I’ve actually visited Nobu restaurants on four different continents. My favourite being Nobu Malibu, a beautiful open restaurant where you can sit nibbling on edamame beans whilst taking in a stunning view of the ocean.
It was my first visit to Nobu and even though I had high expectations I was impressed. The quality of the fish itself was excellent, the service was good and even though it was a Thursday lunch time there was a nice atmosphere.
Honestly, I think the decor was a bit bare and could do with an update.
We had the Bookatable set menu for London Restaurant Festival, and as such we were limited in what we could have, but based on the quality of what I had I really would love to go back; I'd also really like to visit the Berkley Street restaurant, too.
It would be terribly patronising for me to even attempt at reviewing Nobu – arguably one of the most famous and loved Japanese restaurants globally. Instead, I’ll just list a few reasons why it’s my personal favourite over and above all others.
1. The vibe. A trendy but versatile space, Nobu Old Park Lane is appropriate any time or day of the week, for smaller or larger gatherings and for dressing up or down – it totally depends on you.
2. Tofu Steak. Pan-seared tofu with Nobu’s anticucho sauce or teriyaki – I prefer the spicier undertones of the former. If you’re a non-veggie and reading this with a smirk, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. Vegetarians are spoilt for choice with wholesome, hearty dishes at Nobu – even salads pack in a punch. Key recommendations include the mushroom salad, spinach salad, asparagus in dries miso, tofu tempura (to be dipped in the creamy spicy mayo) and grilled aubergine coated in a sticky sweet miso and garnished with sesame.
3. South American twist. Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa’s short stints in Lima and Buenos Aires in his youth clearly left a lasting influence, as Nobu serves up fusion fare with flair. Peruvian dishes, flavours and seasonings feature prominently, with menu items centred around tiradito, ceviche and anti-cucho.
4. The view. Okay, so Nobu doesn’t boast the sweeping vistas offered by the formidable new crop of restaurants towering over the city. But it’s worth grabbing a table by the windows overlooking Hyde Park, for a whimsical view of the sunset during summer months. The colourful lights of Winter Wonderland are equally enchanting later in the year.
5. Chocolate Bento Box. Meltingly gooey flourless chocolate fondant served with green tea ice cream. Not only does it deserve a mention, it deserves a category of it’s own.
Stunning! Lovely food. Expensive? Then don't go. Nice clientele too. Not like The Ivy's chavs and spivs.
So I went to Nobu London for an anniversary where I believe at the time they were doing a 7 or 8 course meal.
I have to say the food was very good and surprisingly filling for how small the courses were - I guess they add up! 😅
They also had good alcoholic and non-alcoholic selection of cocktails and drinks for those that like to drink 🍹
The place looks beautiful, and it really sets a romantic and chilled vibe, I loved it.
However, be prepared to pay for the experience - if I’m not mistaken everything together including drinks was about £400, but it was definitely worth the experience and the service was some of the best I’ve seen in London asian cuisine restaurants.
First time Nobu experience and the staff and food was amazing! Drinks also very good. Nothing to complain about. Atmosphere very elevated. Great options for gluten and dairy free!
Went here recently for my birthday lunch. I am a huge sushi fan but have been to quite a few sushi restaurants all over the world and I know nobu is considered quite pricey so I'll be honest I was half expecting it to be a bit of a disappointment. Maybe one of those places you go once to try and don't go back because as nice as it is, there's others that are just as nice but cheaper. I have to say, I was wrong. The food was out of this world. We got a nice selection to try as many things as we could and absolutely everything we had was divine. I had the lychee crush alcohol free cocktail which was absolutely gorgeous. Food wise we had nigiri salmon,
Crispy nori sushi cup with spicy tuna
& salmon and avocado (these were my faves) Shrimp tempura maki & soft shell crab maki + Chicken skewers. Honestly if I could afford to I would eat there every day! The staff were very welcoming, helpful and attentive. They even brought out a little birthday treat for me at the end. We had a lovely table overlooking the park and it was a really hot sunny day so overall was a beautiful day out in London. Will definitely be back soon and highly recommend. We went theatre straight after and was loads of cabs outside (it's next to the Hilton so have a constant flow of mini cabs).
Ate here with my cousin, went for the signature omakase taster which consisted of six courses, three cold dishes, two hot dishes and a dessert.
The salmon tartare with caviar was nice but slightly overpowered by the wasabi sauce, however the Japanese plum palette cleanser had a really nice sweetness to it.
The sashimi salad also tasted great, especially the onion sauce which brought the dish together for me.
The nigiri tasted really fresh and it was really lovely to taste a bit of each fish.
The black miso cod tasted amazing, it was cooked perfectly, only let down on this was the miso sauce was overly sweet.
Beef was divine, it was really tender and I could cook it slightly more if we found it too rare however it was perfectly cooked, mushrooms were very flavourful.
Finally dessert was my favourite course, the chocolate bento box with green tea ice cream was balanced incredibly well. The green tea ice cream didn’t overpower the chocolate and instead made the molton chocolate cake feel complete and not overly sweet.
Staff were very friendly and all dishes were explained upon receiving them.
Although we did wait quite a while between each dish all in all it was an amazing dinner. Thanks to the staff there who served us and I would love to try the other nobu’s!!!
Nobu is always amazing and this London location did not disappoint!! Everything was amazing, I wish I could have eaten more. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I went at 6pm when it opened and it was not as busy. Great location, just across from Hyde Park and near the Ritz. Definitely recommend!!
Was a great vibe, and the service was on point. Very attentive, and the food was delicious. I will definitely go back again. I had a fabulous night, and the drinks were constantly flowing. Absolute winner of a celebration 😊
One of the first Nobu opened out of Japan some 20 years ago, same location for many years. Famous Japanese restaurant opened by Chef Nobu and Hollywood celebrity. Modern Japanese cusine. When it first opened 20years ago, it was a big hit but the restaurant is showing its age. Many newcomers are better these days. Nobu became too commercial and lost its niche. Nevertheless, the food is not bad. Can try
Fresh Japanese food good for lovers of high end Japanese experiences. Not for the budget minded diner but a vibrant and healthy eating experience in a great section of London.
Had a very tasty and great meal here. Authentic Japanese food. I sat right Infront of the chefs working and preparing the food and it was great to watch them work. The service was brilliant with a nice atmosphere and ambience but the highlight was the food. The flavours were outstanding and my taste buds were dancing. The combination of texture and flavour work very well and nobu created something very unique. Highly recommended to come here.
