Sardo was a fantastic off-the-cuff find. I was stuck near Warren Street and found this lovely restaurant just off Tottenham Court Road. Decor clean, white and bright, just how I like it, shows the patron is not scared to let guests see his dishes. Very confident. The place was almost empty which was a surprise given it was close to Christmas. I was informed most trade is at lunchtime when office staff take long lunches.
Service fine. One waiter was being trained but he was marshalled well by Tomo, who provided me some backgroindvto Sardinian cuisine.
Beef carpaccio was followed by Fregula de Mare, packed full of seafood on a fresh fish stock and tomato sauce. Wine was red, from a Sardinian vineyard, Don Efisio. Grappa strong. Coffee sweet.
Overall, a wonderful meal. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and chatting with the team. I hope they stay open at nights even if the footfall is low.
Recommended highly.

Some interesting items on the menu that are not your usual Italian dishes. So if you’re looking for something different specifically Sardinian cuisine, this is your place. My favourite here is the linguine Al granchio but I’m keen to try some new ones on the menu. I gave it 4 stars because I noticed there was less crabmeat on the dish, and the other thing that turned me off was the constant coughing of one of the waitresses. If a staff is coughing/ hissing, s/he should not be allowed to come to work and serve food. Not very hygienic!! And hello, Covid still exists and it may be mild for some but not others.

Dinner with friends last night was an authentic Italian experience. Very good service, which was both friendly and considerate, matched by simply superb pasta, and lovely wine. We had just one course, followed by great coffee. Fully recommend.

Simply amazing! Service is impeccable and food is so good! Chef is super passionate about what he does and buys fresh seafood and meat in the market on the day. He came to chat to us and was really friendly and interested to know if we liked it. This is an amazing place to go for lunch and dinner. This is one of the best restaurants in London!

Genuine amazing Italian food. Cool atmosphere when I visited, not too busy so pretty laid back. The staff were very attentive and kind. The food portions were generous and very tasty. I was quite surprised as the menu had many dishes which I normally would not try but the waiter was able to assess what I would like and recommend the right dishes for my palette. Looking forward to visiting again. Thanks!

I absolutely loved this place! Intimate and friendly - the chef almost danced with enthusiasm as he described to us in his strong Italian accent what he had bought from the market that day - every sauce is freshly cooked from scratch and it's all delicious! Highly recommended! ❤

We had the best experience last night... Great Italian restaurant without a Pizza Magarita or Spagetti Bolognese! They have a fabulous ,but not too big, menu! You have to try some of the Sardinian specialities ! Beautiful wines ...Great service. Claudio , the chef even gave me some tips how to cook the Fregola! We had an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! thank you all!!!!

The chef, Claudio is simply the most kind and talented chef ever. He is so passionate about his food, I know him since 8 years now and every time I go to eat his food he is able to surprise me with new dishes and specialities. When I miss my Italian home I know where to go, to Claudio :-)

Recently reopened under new management, this place is a gem. Amazing Italian food in a cozy atmosphere at reasonable prices. I went for lunch with my family and had a memorable experience. Chef Claudio surprised us with a selection of appetizers (my favourite was the shrimp carpaccio but the octopus was also memorable), followed by terrific pasta dishes rooted in Sardinian tradition, such as the 'fregola'. For dessert, we got a tiramisu that was literally composed in front of our eyes. Wine list is not huge but it has a good selection and an excellent house wine (a Vermentino). In the hall Damiano looked after us and made us feel at home. Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, the quality-price ratio is out of this world. everything is so amazingly fresh and tasty. We had a full five course meal and even when I was full I continued eating. I am from Sardinia, and a as a local I can say with hand on heart that this is a taste of home away from home. Bravo to the staff which are so nice and welcoming. The chef came out of the kitchen in multiple occasion to check on us and really made the experience special.
the food was exquisite, fresh and full of flavour. Get the maloreddus! a typical Sardinian dish. anyway I could write on for hours about this restaurant. Just go for it! you won't regret it!

Amazing Sardinian restaurant! Great flavours and ingredients, the way you usually don't find in London where everything tastes pretty much the same...try the Sardinian dishes and wines in particular but everything else was also good and tasty. Friendly service and nice environment.

Great food and good service makes this one of the best restaurants in the area..Both the veg and the non veg dishes that we ordered were very good..Minor drawback is the bread basket, which needs improvement, specially since you're charging for it..will definitely be going back for more :-)

7/10 Nice Italian restaurant. Their service was friendly and nice and the food was authentic Italian . £20 per head for food. The restaurant is quite casual . If you are around Warren street station or Goodge street station, Why don't you try there.

The portions are trattoria style. So is the lack of subtlety in cooking and (like some but definitely not all trattorias, more on this story later…) the lack of true passion for the food. So is the complete lack of presentation. Not so the prices

It was the meeting of what used to be the Book Club. We’d started well, all those years ago, reading good and worthy things and talking about them, over food. Obviously. There were, however, few books that we all liked. Bram Stoker’s Dracula was one. The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie was another. Draw your own conclusions. So, after a couple of years without, we decided to have a reunion, over food. L decided on Sardo’s. It hadn’t been on my radar. A little search of its website revealed it to be a restaurant specialising in Sardinian cuisine – hence the Sardo. Doh. Obvious when you know, innit? It’s been around since 1998, so practically pre-historic in London restaurant terms. It’s in Fitzrovia but not the trendy bit. Grafton Way. But don’t let that put you off.

...a thoroughly enjoyable but food-below-par lunch.
The Picky Glutton
Not to be confused with its cafe spin-off next door, Sardo Cucina, Sardo is comfortable and just about quiet enough for a relaxed business lunch or a hazy meal with friends.

I recently returned to Sardo after not having been for about a year. On this occasion it was a lunchtime walk in with my business partner who was over from LA. Returning to Sardo was like running into a a very dear old friend who for one reason or another

This restaurant was on our wishlist for months. After several failed attempts, our chance to experience the mastery of Sardo came one sunny Wednesday in February. One year on from The Guide's memorable night with Lukas at Hawksmoor , a pregnant lady, a yo

as Sardinian person not really impressed. without Sardinian people you can't create a Sardinian ambient. food is fine but too expensive and service in English language? jeez! If I want to speak English and be served in English I would go somewhere else!!

A relatively hidden gem of a Sardinian restaurant located off Tottenham Court Road, Sardo lacks the glitz and glamour of other nearby places but remains one of London's best-kept secrets. The restaurant is understated but warm and welcoming: the selection of foods is excellent and the bread, in particular, is wonderful. The lamb was delicious, served alongside an excellent bottle of red wine which was recommended by the waitress. For what you get, it is perhaps a little overpriced: nevertheless, there are some great dishes and it is definitely worth a visit.

Selection of sliced smoked fish starter is excellent, the steak as main was good too. Lots of digestifs after dinner. Very good.
