I wanted to love this place but it was ok. Food was ok too, it has a weird vibe of a decadent pub. Everything was vegetarian though and that's great for me.

We had an excellent dinner experience at The Gate in Islington. The starters, mains and desserts were all flavoursome and exceptional value for money. The service was great and our waitress was attentive and friendly. We would highly recommend this restaurant to others!

I loved it. What a wonderful place. Everything in the place - menus - is vegan. Mostly gluten free, but anything that is, is well published on the e menu and staff can advise. Since nuts are used for some dishes, it's not nut free but again well marked and the staff knows. Anything that looks like meat or fish isn't - it's 100% vegan. But it looks real and tastes like the real deal. Best of all, or maybe next best from the quality and content is the price. Most reasonable for what you get anywhere these days, and the portions are huge. The staff was wonderful and friendly, and the building is an oldie but lovingly and tastefully restored. This place would be special anyway, but it's vegan menu make it unique. Highly recommended.

Food was lovely and the flavours were full and interesting. They’ve got a few other restaurants in London too and I highly recommend. Awesome to see a fully plant based menu now 👏 Stand out dishes were the courgette flower, oyster mushroom and moussaka

It's so refreshing to visit a plant-based restaurant that isn't heavily dependant on meat-replicas or soya/tofu dishes, with choices that actually show how much delicious fun you can have with vegetables! Was the perfect place to go for my birthday and they even decorated my dessert cake with a Happy Birthday message and candle. I'm already planning when to go again next.

Really great lunch here in this lovely dining room. Tasty vegetarian menu that is a cut above most London restaurants. They have an extensive bar too. We’ll try dinner here next time : yes we are definitely coming back.

The food is amazing, I went to the gate Restaurant for the first time in 1999 and had the Aubergine Schnitzel , but they have improved it since. It reminded me of my mums cooking, but a vegan version of it! The lemon sauce was so tasty and rich. My wife had the katsu curry (incredibly subtle taste) and I had the beetroot and mascarpone mousse, with a slightly bitter/sweet taste). The quantity of food was just right and the price reasonable given the top notch quality. The wine was not of a great quality though given the £26 price tag.

A decent meal of goods flavours but with slow service, despite the empty dining room, it was a little disappointing. Not necessarily going to set the world alight, but a reliable option, especially after a night at Sadlers Wells.

We had curry and mushroom risotto, risotto was good but curry was kind of spicy. Generally food is okay. Everything is average level. Carrot cake was awesome!

One of the top restaurants in London... even if you love meat. Been there many times and take out of town guests and each one has been blown away by the food. Even my mom loves the spot 😂. You forgot that there are no meat options as everything on the menus sounds amazing. That you want to try everything right there.
