After living in Gulf for many years, I would love eating Persian food, but, to my bad luck, there are none even closer to the ones in Dubai.
.
We were guided to Mahdi Resturant by our cab driver and I simply could not bless him enough.
.
The food here was extremely delicious and served with great love and affection. The decor is all fine in Persian way.
.
Falooda Ice cream is highly recommended.
Traditional Persian Resturant. Very good menu options. Nice people. Prices are average. Good size seating area. Easy to get to via bus and tube.
This is an upmarket and very chic restaurant. Pricey and excellent service and fusion Persian food. It's persian in style and attitude. Highly recommended
The quality and taste of food here is excellent! We ordered the mix grill for 2 people and it was presented perfectly and tasted fresh. This is my new go to Iranian restaurant- atmosphere is nice and cosy and food is great.
For sure lots of improvements has happened since I visited this Persian Restaurant in winter 2016.
I saw beautiful decoration with white table cloth and long red termeh on each table. This time I met the handsome owner Mr Mehdi Rahimi who was in the background and managing the smooth running of a very busy restaurant.
The food was excellent and delicious. In comparison with other Persian Restaurant that I have visited this year, I found the food & service of this place to be excellent.
As a treat, Mrs Mayochup took me to a Persian restaurant where she and a friend had been to before for linner (the time between lunch and dinner). The outside didn't look like much however, once you're inside and sat down, you could almost feel that you are on holiday in Iran. We didn't have a reservation and I didn't think that would be a problem as, being 4pm, it should be empty. Well, there was more people in there than I expected and after eating, I could see why.
Great vibe, great food and lovely decor. I knew I was in for a treat the moment I saw the place, it was a saturday night and the place was absolutely packed with a zillion people many of whom were also celebrating their birthdays. With cakes being cut and birthday songs being sung, it was a festive atmosphere.
We called for a Mixed Grill platter that had decent portions of boneless and bone-in pieces of meat served with the authentic saffron rice. It tasted delicious with the kebabs being tender and juicy with a selection of chicken, lamb and minced meat.
For the desserts we called for Zulbia & Bamiyan - a traditional Persian sweet similar to the Arabic sweets like baklava and jelabi. I guess they would taste better if served hot. We also called for a Faloudeh which has frozen starch noodles with rose water and lemon. I guess one has to develop a taste for this as the noodles are not very sweet and the taste of lemon is strong.
This place is a sure not to miss when in London.
Easily the best Iranian food out there. You cannot go wrong with Mahdis. Delicious meat, great rice and amazing quantity for how much you pay! One of my favourite restaurants! Have only tried their grill menu not the stews, but thats because I would only ever have grilled meat at an Iranian restaurant.
We have been eating in this local Restaurant for years, it can get very busy, but the waiters do a great job and never keep you waiting for long, a sign of a good restaurant, no alcholol is served, I suggest you have a drink first and enjoy the delicious food after.
Great Iranian food. I've been here once before. In my second visit (which was quite recent), we ordered hummus and mixed grill which serves 3 people. Instead, we got the one which serves 2 and that proved to be a lucky mistake as we were (4 adults, 2 children) not very hungry. The kebabs and the chicken pieces were extremely flavourful and juicy. The lamb chops were nice but not as good as the aforementioned. The rice was superb and tasted wonderfully with the yogurt tahini.
Early evening hours are extremely busy. Late nights are relatively empty.
Great food, really great food... even for just one person! It wasn't a particularly busy Monday afternoon and I honestly came at the perfect time. I was literally the only customer there (other than two take away orders), naturally I had lowered my expectations. The food turned out to be so nicely cooked, delicious and big portioned! The bread was warm and fluffy, the hummus creamy and nicely seasoned. The star of the show was a simple lamb over rice. It was served hot and delectable. I had so much to eat and left happy, I am looking forward to my next visit.
The food was delicious!
The setting of this restaurant was beautiful! It felt you were in another country/on holiday!
The staff and service were lovely, friendly, and quick.
The bread they provide is freshly made and you will see this as you enter the restaurant, which was cool!
We ordered two mix grills and it was AMAZING! There was 7 of us and 2 mix grills were enough to share.
Overall, it was a wonderful place and worth it! I definitely recommend this place and I will be back again.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mahdi, a Persian restaurant, and it was truly a remarkable experience. The mix grill we ordered was outstanding, offering a tantalizing array of perfectly cooked meats that left us craving for more. The flavors were exquisite, and each bite was a delightful explosion of taste.
Not only was the food exceptional, but the staff, particularly Hamid, provided exceptional service. Hamid's warm and welcoming demeanor created a friendly and inviting atmosphere. He went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction throughout the evening, making us feel valued and appreciated.
Food and decor is very good, restaurant does not serve alcohol. Could not give 5 stars as they have no aircon. It was very stuffy inside and we were happy to leave for a breath of fresh air outside.
The food was good and it came in a reasonable amount of time, and was of course halal. We went in the afternoon and there weren’t many people so it wasn’t too loud. The decor was very memorable and cultural which made the atmosphere pleasant. One thing I’d say is I hope they are able to accommodate vegan/dairy free customers in the future.
We quite often celebrate family reunions here. I really like the decor. The food and service is also excellent. The fact that it is almost full with a good mix of folk proves this point universally.
Mahdi is one of the best Persian restaurant in London. The food was great as always and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommended.
Amazing food! Big portions, fast service, cozy atmosphere!
The food was super tasty, I definitely recommend the Chelo Morgh, which is grilled skewer of juicy marinated chicken, served with rice.
The bread is amazing, it is freshly made in a traditional oven.
This is my favourite Persian restaurant in London. The food is incredible, good portion and the flavours bring you to Iran in a heartbeat. Love their Tahchin and their Mirza ghassemi, they are a must!
Good and traditional-looking interiors. Staffs were very attentive although I didn't like their attitude towards customers. But the food was served really quickly in like a couple of minutes though it was a busy weekday night. The food was good and the portion sizes were big. It's on the pricier end but still, I’ll recommend this place.
