Been to Rasa Sayang a couple of times and food is consistently decent. The beef noodles are really nice and the roti canai with chicken is delicious but the chicken is on a bone which, in a curry in a small bowl, makes it rather difficult to eat. The Char Kway Teow is also nice and the Chargrilled Tiger Prawns were quite dry and not very flavourful. Prices decent and service efficient.

As a Malaysian myself, this was some of the best Malaysian food I’ve had outside of Malaysia, even rivalling some places back home!
The char kueh teow was authentic, yummy, and hefty portions. Beef rendang was top tier and reminded me of home. All the portions were incredibly generous and service was great. Will 100% be coming back on my next visit to London!

I’ve been here a few times, for the price you pay you are well fed and the roti cannai is one of the best and the veg dishes were different, give it a go!We came in large group to celebrate a birthday and they kindly accommodated in a booth type space but they only have one available so pre book! This is not a place for fine dinning but if you want good food and a place just to hang out and dress how you please, this would be it. Our waitress Alice was wonderful and prior visit the other waitress with very short hair was also amazing. The reason I’ve given it 5 is because you get you pay for and a good variety to choose from and it’s pretty tasty.

Went there twice. Had the hor fun, mee goreng, sambal and char kway teow. Everything was super good, including their kopi & teh tarikh. Tasted authentic Singaporean food in London;)

Buzzing place, you know the food is good when the regional people are eating there, spoke to some lovely malaysian people.
My utmost respect to the cooks and service staff as they went above and beyond.
Would have liked more help when ordering the food, like a mix of dishes not much in the way of balance when our food came. Our own fault but perhaps preventative.

This has been on our list for a while and been wanting to try them for the Malaysian delicacies.
Finally visited it. Though we didn’t have prior reservation we did get the table quickly. There were few free tables at the basement but they got occupied real quick.
Ambiance is pleasant.
Service is very quick.
For drinks we had Lychee Cooler, which is a gin based cocktail and a Guava Shorline which is a non-alcoholic drink. Both were delish. Really loved them.
We ordered vegetarian Tempeh to share, which were like soy chips in a really yummy sauce. It was very flavourful.
For mains, I went with Treasures Buddha's delight which sounded interesting based on its description. The dish says it comes with noodles but they ain’t the main sized noodles but they are very minimal. Our server Alice did recommend ordering a rice side along with it.
The dish was gooood but wasn’t as flavourful as our starter/tempeh. Personally would have loved to have a bit more flavour in this dish.
Other half ordered Nasi Goreng (S) which he said he really enjoyed. It came with rice, prawn crackers, and a crispy wing kinda thing. The portion was great for the price. One of the best so far he has had in London.
Overall a wonderful experience..
Alice was great with the service, 5/5 stars for her 🙂

Havnt been here for years and dropped by this week.
The newly renovated decor is lovely. I ordered Wat Tan Ho and it was delicious.
Great food and service, will be sure to return again

Spacious space and kind staffs! Foods were tasty, but was a bit mild then needed a little more seasoning. So we asked chilly oil(there were shrimps in it, so tasty), foods were became perfect flavours. Saw lots Malaysian and Singaporean customers, lots family group visit.

Food was delicious, huge portions and Syaz our waitress was lovely and even recommended what to order when we needed! Thank you Syaz ! 👍🏼

We enjoyed our meal at Rasa Sayang. Food was quick and service was good - they took allergies seriously.
The overall quality of the food could be better - the beef in the beef rendang was tough and a bit hard to chew.
There could be more dipping sauce with the spring rolls.
The jasmine rice and the morning glory were very good.

Another excellent meal yesterday. Even when the restaurant is really busy you can get a table with a short wait.
The food is super fresh and hot when it’s served and tastes amazing. The Roti Canai in particular.. for such a small and fairly simple starter is pretty great.
Service is pretty speedy and staff friendly. During busy times it can be a bit cramped, but the food makes it worthwhile.

Rasa Sayang is one of the few restaurants in London we keep going back to. Because the food is so good! Prices reasonable for the portions. & We finally took the plunge and tried the chilli crab - delicious but messy! Worth a try.

Definitely one of the best Malaysian restaurants in London. The food and service is beyond. Ty was very helpful and had great recommendations. We will definetly come back 🌸
Catherine Chen
The nasi lemak came with a very flavourful curry and a peanut anchovy side. The coconut rice was quite mild on coconut flavour; could barely tell the difference between the coconut and plain steamed rice. Roti canai is an absolute must order - the flakey and rich roti is a heavenly experience, especially when dipped in the rich curry sauce. All their dishes are done generally well, but i was a bit disappointed in the flavour of the laksa broth.

The best place to eat great Malaysian food while in London. The manager, Ty, went above and beyond to help with my wife’s dietary requirements. If you like Malaysian food you will love Rasa Sayang
Amber Lindhardt
My husband and I had a wonderful dining experience at Rasa Sayang in London today! The manager, Ty, was exceptionally kind and helpful, providing us both with fantastic recommendations. Zaina, Syaz, and Ting also contributed to our enjoyable visit with their kindness and assistance. We had the pleasure of sitting by the window, which allowed us to savor our delicious meal while enjoying the view. We highly recommend this establishment for its outstanding service and tasty food!

Today I came with my friends to eat the first time and i real loved the food and the service. all the staff were super helpful and nice. there's one old lady on the floor downstairs doing service and the only one she was rude she can't speak to customer probably and she has bad attitude + she was speaking unprofessional to her colleague because her colleague helped me. overall everything was amazing and delicious.

One of my fav restaurants in London. Chili prawns are so good! Beef houfan, the beef is even more than noodles which is good portion. Highly recommended!

Was in a few days ago, used to be really nice, sadly it wasnt the case this time, beef rendang was hard and chewy, singapore fried rice have no taste in it ,apart from a bit of obvious msg. To top this ,i dont feel welcome at all by judging how we were treated by the one and only waitress downstairs supposingly"service"us, no smiling,no check back, the only thing i like about her was she actually brought me a plate to share my meal with my kids(well...after she saw me scooping all my rice into my son's plate and tried to eat from the same plate with him)...good service!!! Theres so many different restaurants at China town, guess i wont be travelling here especially to have a meal anymore.

Originally from Malaysia, live in London now. Have been going to Rasa Sayang many times for my Malaysian food fix, never disappointed. Shame to read some of the reviews here of poor service and food. I have never experienced that myself so please don't let that put you off this place.
Radinne Adefuin Nabor
Food was good but service could be better. The one male waiter who was there was the best and nicest out of all of the servers.
Jason Tsang
I've been to Rasa Sayang twice. On both occasions the food was good and the staff were helpful. I've never tried Malaysian food, so I was quite surprised. I will definitely come back again. Rasa Sayang is one of a few restaurants in China Town London, which serves good food. Some items could be spicier though.

Superb Menu, great choices really gets your taste buds going ! To enjoy the experience do book in advance , you will not be disappointed , I have so many favourite dishes , hard to choose but Roti Canai followed by Char Kway Chow , if you have room left all the desserts are excellent :) Having lived in Borneo, eating here brings back great memories of my weekly visit to Pasar Malam with all the lovely Malay foods - ENJOY :)
Milan Stefan
So surprised by recent bad reviews. I went here few times already and was never disappointed. Of course not every meal is prepared just when you order it and not all the ingredients are bought fresh on the local market at the morning but also no one is promising you Noma experience here.Staff is really busy but always smiling and friendly. If you find something niche about faded minimalistic interiors of Asian eateries you'll love this place!

Really good food in china town , yes I would definitely go back again , it was my first time to this restaurant & I enjoyed the Sambal fish very much
Sunny Gujral
Good Malaysian cafe in the heart of China town! Gratyifingly authentic Malaysian waiting staff
Julie Barber
Delicious good value food. While the restaurant might look more basic, the food is far better than a lot of the other local restaurants on Gerrard Street, China Town
Gino
We enjoyed the food but were disappointed with the tiny portions. Also charging £9 for half floret of broccoli sauteed with a bit of garlic was extortionate.
Modyfoody
Really good Asian restaurant with a wide array of delicious Asian dishes that are freshly cooked and served with the best ingredients and with the help of a very friendly and professional staff as well.
Irda Hadi
Went here to celebrate a birthday. At first, warm welcome received from a more senior staff. While we were having our meals, four different waiter/waitresses kept coming one after the other to our table and asked if they could take away our plates. Some of my guests still had half plate full of food! My guests and I found this act intrusive and it wasn’t the kind of eating-out experience we expected.

Rasa Sayang Chinatown me padta hai ye restaurant. China ka Khaana jaada milta hai yaha par. Tasty to hai maximum dishes China ki hai. Tasty hai
Edward.julianto
It’s located in London Chinatown. The foods are served super quick. I tried the konloh mee hainanese chicken. It’s good and delicious. But the portion is too big for me to finish it alone. The staffs are super friendly. Will try other menu if visit again.
Joana Meireles
Considering the reviews I was expecting better, but still was a well worth experience. The food was good and the service was very quick and partially friendlier then expected in Chinatown.

Rasa Sayang<br/><br/>One of the most highly recommended restaurant by friends and bloggers was this Malaysian restaurant called Rasa Sayang in Chinatown, London. This eatery was on my list of restaurants to try during my Summer trip to London. The restaurant is small and cute which is the case with majority of restaurants specially in Central London. <br/><br/><br/>For me personally the menu was very confusing because I haven’t eaten a lot of Malaysian food so I got a bit lost while deciding what to order. So after taking some help from the server, we ordered 2 appetizers and 2 Mains. <br/><br/>APPETIZERS<br/>1. Roti Canai - This is apparently one of their traditional dishes which is very popular with guests. Its very similar to the Paratha with gravy of Indian Cuisine. The Paratha was crispy and loaded and the gravy was very spicy and thick. I really liked this dish because it was very simple yet flavourful. <br/>2. Grilled Satay - This was a very familiar dish so I had to order it. This dish has grilled chicken(beef and lamb options also available) on skewers served with peanut sauce, a salad of cucumber & onion and rice cake. The chicken was cooked so well that it was so soft and was melting in the mouth. <br/><br/>MAIN COURSE <br/>1. Nasi Goreng - I fell in love with this dish when I some some Malaysian and Indonesian friends during my Industrial training in Dubai back in 2008. I always order Nasi Goreng if its on the menu in any restaurant. I like the dish because all the ingredients are very basic and simple but they pair well with each other. The plate consisted of fried rice with shrimps covered with sunny side up fried egg garnished with anchovies. The rice were accompanied by Chicken Satay with peanut sauce and cucumbers. <br/>2. Egg Fried Rice - This is the staple dish for my son. He can survive and happily eat egg fried rice all day, every day. <br/><br/>I ordered Iced Tea which was fresh and homemade . <br/><br/><br/>The service was below average because the staff looked very unhappy and never smiled. It was only when we paid the bill and were about to leave, they smiled. <br/><br/><br/>Total Bill - £31.60 including tax and tip.<br/><br/>Taste : 4/5<br/><br/>Ambience/Decor : 3/5<br/><br/>Service : 3/5<br/><br/>Value for Money : 4/5<br/>
Sarah Alexander
If I’m feeling homesick, this is where I come. The dishes (and the atmosphere) are as authentic as they get! The Nasi Lemak is brilliant, so is the Nasi kampong, the kway teow and the satay. Give the keuh dadar a go - it’s definitely a trip down memory lane for me!

We were in the mood for some Malay food and seeing the great ratings this place had decided try it out for dinner a few days back.<br/><br/>We reached there by 8 and it was packed had to wait for 15 minutes to get a table.<br/>Went with the classic Chicken Satay and Oyster omelette for starters. The satay tasted good but I didn't care much for the slimy texture of the oysters and felt the basic omelette was also very greasy.<br/><br/>For mains we shared the Nasi Goreng,Singapore Fried Rice and the Chicken Rendang which came with a mound of steamed rice.It all tasted good and the portions were generous.<br/><br/>The kitchen is situated downstairs and the piping hot food is delivered to the dining room via a dumb waiter
Murdi Althaf
It was my first time trying Malaysian food and I loved it. Their prices are very reasonable and you'll have more delicious food than you can finish. I usually walk out of here with a take away bag.

"London 🇬🇧 was heaven for me for the short visit. But I had to struggle to find great food unlike Dubai"😁😀 <br/><br/>Malaysian Food: I have tried the first time. Maybe my menu choice which I made was not that right. I have ordered LOR MEE, it was kind of noodle bowl with Chicken and Prawn based gravy. At the begging, I had enjoyed a lot with the crispy chicken topped. But after few sip, it was like so salty and soya sauce quantity is little more. I realized maybe everything from every cuisine you may not like but give a try is mostly give you best experience. <br/><br/>Actually, I was searching a Halal food place and I found them in Zomato. Overall it was a good experience and I would love to go again and try something else.<br/><br/>Food - 3.5/5<br/><br/>Ambience - 4.5/5 <br/><br/>Service - 4.5/5 Quick and Friendly.<br/><br/>Price - 20/30 GBP for 2 people /💷<br/><br/>Recommendations -If you are looking for halal food like me or you have interest in Malaysian food you must visit.<br/>Location - Location was easy to find. It is in the China Town Soho Area.

Came to Rasa Sayang for the first time after passing it a few times. The diner was clean and the decor is basic with the walls painted red one side and white the other. I guess you could say it was clinical. There were a mix of people; Malay, Chinese, Indian and obviously British. I took my brother with me and tried their starter chicken satay skewers and the mains two portions of Hainanese chicken rice (only remembered watching a clip of Rick Stein trying this dish in Malaysia, thought we gave it a go) via ice lemon tea and a cincau (grass jelly) drink. <br/>There is no introduction to ice lemon tea, just a standard drink. But the cincau is synonymous to South-East Asia, also known as grass jelly, is a healthy, black coloured plant-based jelly drink, an acquired taste to Westerners palette. <br/>The satay skewers came during our main course which normally a no no because it is a 'starter.' Anyway, the chicken skewers had a curried marinate with a slight char colouring came with peanut dipping sauce. It had some flavour but the chicken itself and the peanut satay sauce could do with less oil; it left a greasy after taste! <br/>Our mains, the Hainanese chicken rice (I am sorry I have no photos, was in a rush!) came as 3 parts: the chicken in a bed of soy and sesame sauce with beansprouts, the bowl-shaped white rice with 2 slices of cucumber and a bowl of chicken broth. The chicken was so tender and juicy; could be corn-fed chicken giving it a silky texture and dipping it with ginger/ garlic chilli sauce seem to work your tastebuds! The rice was a good sized portion, tasted like it was cooked with chicken stock as added flavour. The chicken broth clensed the palette to finish off the meal. It can't be a bad thing that there was no food left on the plate and we both thoroughly<br/>enjoyed our meal. The price was good, looking at £25 without drinks & the staff were attentive and friendly. I will definitely come back to try out other dishes!!

Nasi goreng istimewa was tasteless. But the chicken satay was still ok. Nasi lemak still ok too. Beef lamb canay more to like indian curry taste than asian, but the beef was soft enough to bite. Service was good.

This place is busy, really busy.. the waitstaff are like ants running around on a hot plate. But they get the job done, and very well.<br/>There are some interesting choices with the food, I opted for one of those - Lor Mee which was five spiced chicken in a thick prawn based broth, with hokkien noodles.<br/>It was ok, not exactly my cup of tea, but can see how it would be for some. And to be honest it actually got better the more I got into it.<br/>

Asian is in my blood. Wherever I go, I will looking for asian food for sure. I was ordered es cendol, nasi lemak and nasi hainam. The food is good, the drink is awesome.

Soy bean juice + cincau (grass jelly) = Michael Jackson. That's what they call it in Malaysia because he's black and white. :P Anyway the soy bean juice tasted horrible! It has some kind of unpleasant taste in it and it's so sweet... I could barely even taste the soybean. Yee Sang we had during Chinese New year. Can't really expect much as it costs about £10 for it? Obviously that isn't freshly made.

There’s something undeniably comforting about a gigantic plate of noodles. For me, it reminds me of carefree childhoods and going out for a rare, fancy but economical family outing up in the city. I tried to relive some of that grandeur thorough checking out a Malaysian place called Rasa Sayang, which is across the road from the new office. Decently busy for a weeknight and super fast service. Which was needed, as the staff had my order wrong on the first round. Still, a quick swap and only a mere few minutes of additional waiting meant no drama. The chicken and the vege were on the side of ordinary but the noodles and the sauce sure did it for me. Not quite as rich as the midnight dark hues of the ones back in Auckland, but the savoury, soy notes of the sauce were exact to have evoked fond memories. Authentically crafted and an ideal stopgap for a cheap and traditional fix.

I am not incredibly well versed in the restaurants of Chinatown so am not rating it with a comparison of it's competition in mind.<br/><br/>Satay lamb - (3/10) On it's own the lamb was not seasoned very well and a bit dry. The accompanying satay sauce certainly uplifted it, but satay sauce will make anything tasty<br/><br/>Oyster omelette (3/10) The oysters were past their prime. Funky fishiness was the predominant flavor <br/><br/>Shrimp paste fried chicken (4/10) The shrimp paste was subtle and came at the back of the bite. There wasn't much flavor beyond this and the hot sauce that accompanied the chicken easily drowned out and overpowered the shrimp paste flavor. Chicken was a bit dry.<br/><br/>I don't see myself dining at Rasa Sayang again even though this is the only spot around that I've seen with Malaysian food.

We came during lunchtime so there was a waiting line to get seated. The lady who was in charge of seating was super rude and spoilt the mood for the day. We had chicken rice, char kway teow, nasi goreng and gado gado. I come from Malaysia so I can say that the food taste ok. Pity about the service though. :(

Spent my Saturday evening on eating here with my spouse and our flatmates. One of my flatmates had eaten here before, and she recommends the place. The four of us easily found seats because it's not dinner time yet (we came here on 5.20-ish pm). The interior was quite straightforward and practical without many decorations.<br/>We ordered Prawn Mee, Curry Laksa, and Nasi Lemak. They're all delicious! Taste wise, it were really authentic and suited our Indonesian taste bud just perfect. The portion was pretty generous for the price. Love the Prawn Mee! A suitable choice for London's cold weather, indeed. As for the drink, my Teh Tarik wasn't foamy enough to be called one. There's no foam atop actually.<br/>Overall, I enjoyed my time here. Our meals and drinks were great, and the service was very prompt. Very recommended if you're looking for an authentic taste of South-east Asian cuisine!

Looking for a halal place to eat in Chinatown. We ordered mix of beef and chicken satay (good), chicken wonton (fairly average), fresh orange juice (good), beef pentang with rice (tasty) and a tapioca dessert (good). Enjoyed the food overall good taste.

As a Malaysian, I can assure you this is legit. Of course can't be compared to the foods back at home but rasa sayang has definitely sorted out the fix for south East Asians in London. Reasonable price and service is good.

Decent Mayasian restaurant in Chinatown. Excellent roti canai but the rest (beef randang, mee goreng), whilst not bad, were nothing to write home about. Service was quick and I haven't tried nasi lamek or the konloh mee pok yet so I'd come back and give them another go.

Tasty authentic Malaysian food at great value. I can see why this place is so popular. Really enjoyed my meal. Everything was spiced perfectly and the menu choices were great.
Haroon Sadiq
Good halal food. Will definitely go back and taste other dishes. Really liked the Malaysian /Singaporean cuisine. Reminds me of the dishes I had in China or in the Indonesian restaurant. Asian (far east) foods have a similar line of taste in them due to the spices, which I really like.

Cafe style venue, loads of choices on the menu, can be a little hard to figure out what you want. But i always go for the beef rendang if i see it on a menu. This was was very good, a little oily, but good flavour and texture.<br/>beef rendang Only £8.50. Halal and totally yum. Great for a cheap eat. They have a downstairs area which is good for groups.

The place has good variety of Malaysian dishes and tastes good too. One of the few places in Chinatown that serves halal. If you want to try or like Malaysian food visit this place.<br/><br/>Recommendation - beef Rendang, chicken satay, chicken wonton, chicken Rendang <br/><br/>Halal- yes

Rasa Sayang is probably one of the most busiest restaurants within London’s Chinatown. Get there at the wrong time and you’ll have to wait for a seat. But once you’ve tried their food, it’ll all be worth it! If you’ve never tried Malaysian food before, then think Chinese food mixed with spices and aromatic flavours. You’ll love Rasa Sayang if you love your food with a bit of a kick!
Clara Patricia
Tasty and good priced Malaysian restaurant. I had the chilli crab, morning glory and fried chicken with prawn paste. Love the sauce that comes with chilli crab because it's not overly spicy but still have a strong flavour, get ready to be messy!
Yummy Jubbly
Probably one of London's most authentic places to have Malaysian cuisine. Hidden with Chinatown, this place is a must try! We guarantee you won't be disappointed. Must try nasi goreng, Indian rojak, nasi lemak, char kueh teow and the cendol ice !
Ron Dark
These people do good Malay and Singaporean cuisine. It's actually a simple place in chinatown but don't let that fool you. The nasi lemal(coconut) rice with rendang. is to die for. I also recommend the 'char kway teow' fried noodles. Its like nothing you've had before.

Great place for good Malaysian food. Gathered a group of friends and ordered a whole bunch of dishes. Everything was nice. Those who had their first taste of Malaysian cuisine were intrigued and enjoyed it a lot. Plus point: their bathroom is clean!<br/><br/>I really love their sambal and Assam dishes. They do it well. Also, portions are quite big and good for sharing. However, I wouldn't share my order! (It's too good!!)

The hygiene here leaves a lot to be desired. The service too isn't very good. That being said, that's true of most places in China Town. Their Nasi Goreng is quite good and was, relatively speaking, the better Nasi Goreng that I could find in London. I personally never really liked any of their other dishes. But their Nasi Goreng is certainly worth a try and was the sole reason for my frequent visits to this place.
Helmina Kamaruzaman
I like the range of food they prepared. And they were all in acceptable price. <br/><br/>I had nasi lemak with beef rendang and to be honest, I preferred the one I had in Roti King, Euston. It was a so-so.

A place that I crave the most !! I have been here several times and the taste of nasi goreng just gets better always.. Each time I am here, I make it a point to make all my friends try different dishes so that I manage to cover all the dishes that the menu has..but alas ! My appepite.. :( <br/>This was my first experience in trying Malaysian food and I am absolutely in love the cuisine .. If you talk about having a food-gasm this is the place .. The food is simplyyy aww-someee ! The small little restaurant, has a lot to give when it comes to taste and flavour in Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine..<br/><br/>Someone take me back here!!!

Great place to look for authentic Malaysian food. I had the fried kuey teow and the taste was spot on. What the Chinese skilled cooking emphasis on "Wok Hei" was evidently in the dish which otherwise would make the dish utterly bland. Great experience. Recommended to give it a try.

Great Malaysian food in the heart of Chinatown. Reasonable price.<br/><br/>Try their:<br/>- Nasi Lemak (coconut rice with chicken curry served with hard boiled egg and deep fried peanuts)<br/>- Mee Goreng (egg noodles stir-fried with seafood & vegetables)<br/>- Char kuay teaw (flat rice noodles stir-fried with seafood & vegetables)<br/>- Laksa (egg noodles in seafood curry sauce)<br/>- Beef rendang (beef pieces cooked in curry sauce made from loads of spices & coconut flakes)<br/>- Nasi Goreng (Malaysian-style fried rice served with fried egg, satay, and prawn crackers)<br/><br/>You will have a hard time deciding what to order. Everything looks great.

When I heard friends of ours were popping down to London for the day and wanted to catch up for dinner I thought woohoo- so many awesome new places have opened since they were last in town. However when they said they had a massive craving for Malaysian food I thought oh dear... I'm yet to find a decent Malaysian place anywhere in town... After some recommendations we settled on Rasa Sayang.<br/><br/>It definitely hit the spot for our visiting friends but you should probably know they live in a lovely village in Scotland where the nearest Malaysian is probably... well London so I think anything would have appeased them. The roti was a little anaemic and thin, although the curry which came with it was pleasant. The other nibbles were pretty good- tofu with mango sauce and the chee chong fun in curry sauce. <br/><br/>For mains we had a laksa- broth was a bit weak on flavour, Hainanese chicken rice- which I found a little disappointing with its overly sticky rice, and bland chicken, a nasi goreng, and more roti with chicken curry. One thing none of these dishes was lacking in was volume- all portions were huge, so if you're hungry this is your ticket.<br/><br/>Overall, the food was pleasant, the service was efficient but still friendly and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a cheap and cheerful place in the heart of Chinatown- none existent.

Charged £12.80 for half a chicken to takeaway, will be worth the while, if it was authentic. Instead, when opening the box when we got home, the chicken was 'swimming' in diluted soya sauce. Taste of the chicken was beyond discription, totally disgusting. Not sure why the restaurant was given a thumb up by Time Out's review. Never will we be going back there. Hainan Chicken is suppose to be the most famous in Malaysia, yet Rasa Sayang has ruined it's reputation!!!!!

Disappointing. Recently having moved from Melbourne to London, I was craving a Malaysian fix. I ordered the curry laksa and a Milo dinosaur. The curry laksa was really watered down and lacked the creamy coconut milk that is present in every other traditional curry laksa. Contents were limited with only a few pieces of tofu and meat. It consisted of 95% noodles and 5% everything else. The Milo dinosaur was mediocre at best. This too was watered down and lacked the condensed milk found in typical Malaysian style Milos.

Great food, poor seating!. This is one of my favouriite eateries whenever I visit London. I know the food is authentic (I'm Singaporean-Australian) and the cost is reasonable but not cheap, yet worth the price for a good meal.<br/><br/>My only annoyance is the way the waitstaff seat you at a table already occupied by other diners to cram as many diners in a very small space upstairs. <br/><br/>They don't do that in Singapore and Malaysia!

Very Authentic. Second South East Asian restaurant in the heart of chinatown of London. Having travelled to Singapore and Malaysia, I sincerely can say that the menu is very elaborate of comfy food for nationals of these countries and people who travelled often there to enjoy the local food. I had the Chat Kway Teoy and I can recommend highly this dish! Service is quick and not expensive at all. Highly recommend this restaurant

Malay Heaven. Haven't eaten at Rasa Sayang for quite a few months now. Thankfully the quality of the food has not diminished. Nice spicy straits chicken curry and a wonderful Nasi Lemak was had tonight, <br/>My fave Malay joint is still going strong. Phew.

Adequate at a pinch. Coming from Malaysia, I'm a bit particular about Malay food; the fare here is very variable from dish to dish, so certain ones are significantly more likely to please than others, but I haven't had any of the bad experiences reported here either. Reasonable food at reasonable (for London) cost - have a go if you love Malay.

THE WORST Service Ever Encountered in London. For full review with pictures please visit http://www.bakecookeat.blogspot.com/2010/03/rasa-sayang.html<br/><br/>I wish I had better things to say considering this is the 2nd chance I've given Rasa Sayang. The only reason I returned was because Metro had a 2-for-1 voucher, but even with the discount the service was SO abominable this time round that even my first lacklustre visit feels like a Michelin star experience in comparison. It was truly the lunch from hell, where a waitress with about as much social grace as a fungal infection left us angry, frustrated and united in our conviction never to step foot there again.<br/><br/>It is a real shame that the 2010 Malaysia Kitchen campaign is having their efforts being spat on like this. The waitress hung up on me when I phoned to book, demanded rudely to see my voucher when we turned up, ended up overcharging us and then had the gall to condescendingly tell my partner he was being too loud and to "cool down" when we tried to clarify matters. On top of that, better more authentic dishes can be found in Sedap Old Street and Malaysia Kopitiam.<br/><br/>From reading other online reviews, it is clear that we aren't alone in our fury and frustration at Rasa Sayang's horrible service. How bad this restaurant is is summed up best by Matthew Norman of the Guardian, who in this fabulous review accurately concluded that it is "the planet's most sensationally misnamed restaurant" with nothing to fix "other than service and the cooking".<br/><br/>Rasa Sayang (Feeling of Love)? Far from it!

Will not be going there again. I dont mind the look of a place or service as long as the food is worth it...The food was bland. Seemed liked it had been cooked hours before and just lying around. It took 3 mins for our food to be served...Really not sure that everything can be cooked that quickly. The chicken we ordered was bland in some black liquid.....Terrible.

Cheap-eat-london.com review of Rasa Sayang. Review by cheap-eat-london.com<br/><br/>This Malaysian restaurant based in the heart of London's Chinatown certainly polarises customers. The supporters lay claim that this is the only genuine Malaysian restaurant in London whereas the naysayers will say that the food is shit!<br/><br/>This was my first visit and to be blunt, it wasn't very good:<br/>Rasa Sayang<br/><br/>Rasa Sayang<br/><br/>Despite the mixed online reviews I still had high expectations as I'm not really bothered about 'brusque' service, or even bad service as long as the food is good.<br/><br/>We were in a bit of a hurry to get somewhere and seeing as the restaurant was busy, we didn't spend too long perusing menus. Straight to main courses and maybe something sweet if we had time.<br/><br/>I ordered the chicken curry with paratha and my partner ordered the Singapore seafood fried noodles. I could've gone for more localised dishes such as the nasi goreng or assam fish but you couldn't get more Malay than a good curry, however general that might be.<br/><br/>Like I said, the restaurant was busy so they must be doing something right and I was feeling positive that my food was going to satiate my tummy and my tastebuds.<br/>Chicken Curry with Peratha flatbread<br/><br/>Chicken Curry with Peratha flatbread<br/><br/>My alarm bells started ringing when my curry came out within 3 minutes of my order being taken. 'Ok what do you expect' I thought to myself. 'It doesn't take long to ladle out a bowl of steaming hot curry'. I talk to myself a lot by the way. But damn they couldn't even heat up my curry correctly. The sauce temperature was hot whereas my chicken on the bone was lukewarm. And dry. Served with the store bought perathas the dish could be described as absolutely turd! My partner's Singapore noodles fared slightly better. The noodles were a bit bland and could've done with some heat but the prawns were fat, juicy and plentiful.<br/>Singapore Noodles<br/><br/>Singapore Noodles<br/><br/>I finished what I could of the curry, mopping up the sauce (a nice balance of chilli and coconut) with the peratha and we felt there was room and time for a dessert. Our first choice of a green bean dessert was sold out, so we ordered the pandan pancakes with toasted coconut filling. I've had these before at 'Thai on the River' and they were one of the best things I've ever tasted so I was willing to put my disappointment to one side and allow my sweet tooth to be indulged.<br/><br/>Alas, another disappointment: They simply didn't turn up. We waited for 15 minutes before asking the waitress to check on its progress and she returned a minute later to tell us that no order existed! As mentioned we were in a hurry and so didn't bother with putting the order through again, or kicking up a minor fuss about the crappy, dry chicken.<br/><br/>Did I get them on a bad order, or a bad day? I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and I will return as they do have loyal customers who stand vehemently by Rasa Sayang's reputation.<br/><br/>It can't be any worse can it?<br/><br/>Average price is £6.50 - £8 for a main course.

Good but difficult. Really authentic, traditional style malaysian food however be warned that these are very difficult to eat. why: lobster comes with the shell, spent 2 hours fighting, cut my fingers. And too much spice!!!

Could be better. It's cheap, with nothing more than £8 on the menu. The menu itself is littered with Malaysian classics (nasi lemak, rendang, chicken rice, laksa) and hawker stall favourites (roti canai, kway teow, mee goreng). So we were excited and anticipated something authentic. <br/><br/>We tried the nasi lemak, beef rendang and kway teow. Predictable but I like to test the Malaysian staples since I grew up on them through my childhood & teenage years. Unfortunately, flavours across all 3 dishes were underwhelming. The nasi lemak is a joy when done right: the complexity & balance of flavours & textures owing to a variety of ingredients. Here the rice looks right served with condiments of sambal, hard boiled egg, peanuts & Asian anchovies, cucumber and a chicken curry. Straight away we notice the lack of fragrance. The rice should seduce you with an aroma of coconut & pandan, but this might as well be plain steamed rice. The curry was bland and the sambal, being mild & sweet when it should be spicy & punchy, failed to lift the dish. It looked the part but tasted like a poor imitation. <br/><br/>The rendang was worst. This should be rich, thick; stewed for hours to achieve a deeply flavoured & tender beef. Here we got presented a sorry looking plate of tough meat swimming in a watery, orange 'sauce'. This really was an insult to one of Malaysia's best loved dishes. The kway teow was better, again it looked the part and tasted nice. The broad flat noodles had flavour and the prawns were fresh. It could have been better if the noodles were fried in a really hot wok to impart that smoky, slightly charred aroma to complete the dish.<br/><br/>Overall a less than satisfied experience, but there are a lot of other items on the menu. My suspicion is that the kitchen is more Chinese than Malay, which is typical when dishes like the kway toew is better than the rendang, so order carefully. They need to review some of their recipes and techniques. There is room for improvement.

Impressed!. I went today to try Rasa Sayang, and was really impressed how good it is! I saw the critics at the londonaper and was curious to try it personally. good quality and well priced! hope they keep their standards, as most restaurants around are losing rate - quality - friendliness and cleanliness.......

We're at that age where we sometimes go to the theatre on a Saturday night. But not quite old enough to start believing that a pre-dinner menu in Leicester Square is a smashing idea. Maybe in 20 years time you'll see my shadowy figure behind the glass of the Piccadilly Circus flagship of Angus Steak House. After literally having the door slammed in my face at Leong's Legend next door and with only an hour to spare before we had to be in our seats, we slunk over to Rasa Sayang, a Malaysian Singaporean restaurant in Chinatown that was also at full capacity. I live for ho fun (stir fried flat rice noodles) and this looked like the closest thing on the menu. All of their dishes have a helpful, full-colour photo next to an actual description. Very considerate. This was the char kuay teow (wok-fried flat noodles in superior dark sauce and fresh seafood). Yum. Nothing to write poetry about but tasty just the same. Keeping in mind that we had an hour before we had to be in our seats, we ordered Singapore Chilli Crab (fresh crab wok-fried in signature spices and chilli, topped off with velvety beaten eggs). By the time it actually arrived we had 40 minutes to go. I nearly broke a tooth on that crab as the elderly couple at the next table looked on in utter horror. With 15 minutes to go I was shovelling the delicious sauce into my mouth and mainlining clumps of steamed rice like they were tic tacs. Mmm. No time to savour. Now the wings were a little disappointing. The sauce was sickeningly sweet. At this point there were still about 4 wings left and I had precious little time to spare. So I went for it. But even my best efforts could not overcome the cloying sweetness of the sauce. During the entire play I could smell chicken wing sauce wafting around my general area. It's the gift that keeps on giving. Rasa Sayang 5 Macclesfield Street London W1D 6AY www.rasasayangfood.com Posted by Jennifer Trak at 14:00

Rasa Sayang is the go-to place when you’re in the mood to be stuffed full of aromatic morsels. The chicken and lamb satay provide a substantial first bite, with a simple onion, cucumber and rice cube side. Portion sizes are absolutely enormous and definitely for sharing. Silky flat noodles with seafood slip down a treat, while deep-fried crabs in a chilli and tomato gravy is served with the shell on and very very messy eating – but well worth the effort. Nutcrackers and mallets are provided to do the dirty work.

Given how much time I spend in London's Chinatown, it's hard to believe I've only just visited Rasa Sayang. Maybe I can attribute it to general lack of knowledge about Malaysian-Singapore food, but more likely it's because I'm usually lured by bao zi and other Chinese delights every time. On a recent Sunday, this seemed like an idyllic lunch spot. First up, the seafood curry laksa! This was my first curry laksa experience and it won't be my last. The broth was spicy, but not over the top, and infused with flavor from the chilis and coconut milk. It also had this mysterious peanut taste even though i have no idea if there were any peanuts in there. I especially loved the fried tofu and hard boiled egg. Stick a hard boiled egg on anything and it's immediately Asian, and delicious. Next, the chicken rendang. Described as chicken slow-cooked in rendang spices served with glutinous rice wrapped in coconut leaves. Did this come as I pictured? Not so much. The rice was plain, and n

If there is one meal i could eat everyday for the rest of my life, it would be hainanese chicken rice. Having had it readily available back in hometown Oz, I was determined to find a regular spot over here in London. Good thing i stumbled onto Rasa Sayang in Chinatown literally the second day I arrived. The place offers pretty authentic Malaysian Hawker cuisine and you can get all the usual suspects I have grown up eating. These include, Curry Laksa, Mee Goreng, Nasi Goreng and Hor Fun just to name a few. Having said that I generally go for the chicken rice. I must say the quality here is pretty top notch. Good flavoured supple chicken, good chilli sauce and really great chicken broth. My only small gripe is the rice can be a little sticky which is not to my liking but really not an issue. Today i ordered it with some Roti Cinai to complement but to be honest i have eaten better elsewhere in London. I will take some pictures next time i visit those establishments and put it up in a pos

Rasa Sayang means ‘feel the love’ in Malay. Unfortunately, today none of us felt that way about their food and also their lack of service (but I never go to Chinatown for service anyway).

South East Asian food in London is very poorly represented and quiet often disappointing. Thankfully there are a few decent places about and things do seem to be getting better. Rasa Sayang is a decent option for Malaysian food. The Roti Canai came with good bread, moist and flaky, the curry to dip it in is also rich and runny just like you get in Singapore and Malaysia. The Char Kuay Teow is also decent, the noodles are rich having sucked in all the soy sauce. The prawns could have been better, i'm sure they were pre cooked. The pan fried carrot cake was good but missed something, maybe it was pre made and re-heated, i'm not sure but it was too cludgy, the outside should have been more crunchy. Again I will say that Cha Cha Moons is better. The Beef rendang was a solid version, a pow

Fried noodles, fish balls in soup, chicken curry. I had sone pandan jelly dessert, I had intro my friends to Malaysian tea. It’s the way it’s made that brings the richness of the flavour in, the technique is called pulled tea.

It has been some time since I had last been to Rasa Sayang, not because I was indifferent to their food but simply for lack of time - there are just so many new restaurants in London to check out. Rasa Sayang does exactly what it says on the tin. It's a small crowded room in Chinatown, just off Shaftesbury Avenue; painted white, with wood-effect tables and cheery laminate menus full of colourful photographs of Malaysian and Singaporean street food.

Anyone who has been to London's Chinatown I hope will understand when I say that I think it is a bit of a mirage. Located in prime real estate and promising so much, I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed by it. For a city so rich in history and culture, London's Chinatown is strangely underdeveloped and disappointingly commercial. The food is generally average, a little merger and expensive for the amount you get. It is quite the opposite of the Chinese generosity I've grown up being accustomed to. However, it's not all doom and gloom as, dotted around the area, there are still a few places which I rate highly and which I always look to should I find myself there - one such place is Rasa Sayang. <br/><br/>Since falling for this place on first bite 6 years ago, it has become a mainstay on my London eats list and, though the cuisine is technically Malaysian, their style of cooking is known as peranakan, which combines Chinese ingredients and wok techniques with traditional Malaysian spices. What transpires is a diverse and varying menu which takes inspiration from every part of South East Asia. <br/><br/>And thankfully for me, it does because it is here that I've found the best Haianese chicken rice in London. What is it you ask? Originating from the Hainan province in southern China, it is chicken prepared in traditional Hainanese methods which involves steeping the entire chicken at sub-boiling temperatures in a pork and chicken bone stock. This is then served on fragrant "oily rice" prepared with special chicken stock. It is one dish which has stuck with me my whole life and I don't see that stopping anytime soon. <br/><br/>However, no visit is complete without a helping of the roti with curry which is so moreish it's unfair. The roti is so light and fluffy it's like eating clouds and provides the perfect utensil to soak in all the delicious fragrant curry. <br/><br/>Complementing the savoury is a menu of traditional desserts though this pales in comparison to the mains. However, even here there are winners with the deep fried bananas and the kueh dadar (pandan-flavoured filled with grated coconut and palm sugar) being my favourites. <br/><br/>If you're after a quick, reasonably priced and tasty meal, this is for you and I know you and your party will find something with will satisfy every individual craving. However be warned, you don't come for the service as the meal is hurried to ensure consistent turnover. <br/><br/>Also follow me on Twitter @annixontong and @WeTryKai and on Instagram @annixontong.

Of all the restaurants in Chinatown, Rasa Sayang stands out for its simplicity. It is a great restaurant without really trying too hard. It is this that makes it a good place for a spot of casual dining, whether that is for a spot of lunch or a quick dinner. <br/><br/>Rasa Sayang is a restaurant that I frequently venture too when I am in Chinatown. The food here is delicious. It is served quickly, which is welcoming when you're absolutely starving. Don't take this expediency to imply that the food lacks quality as the food here is amazing. The portions are decent sized and the price is very reasonable. The service is quick with friendly staff. Overall, you cannot really complain. I would definitely recommend this place if you are stuck for choice from the arrays of good restaurants in Chinatown.

I went to this place with a couple of friends but was left disappointed with it's bad food and appalling service. One of the options listed in the so called heat zone of their restaurant did not have enough chili which was all the more disappointing. On top of this, when one of my friends asked for water, he was told that they were finished with water which was just unbelievable. The staff was in quite a hurry and was decadent enough to tell us to finish our meal quickly as there was a waiting outside. I felt quite offended by this behaviour of the staff.
Josh Sykes
The restaurant offers authentic Malaysian food. The service is just like the service of any other restaurant in the area, and the waiters aren't rude. We ordered a few authentic Malaysian dishes and were not disappointed. The food tasted amazing, and gave me a taste of home. As it is a small place, the tables are close to each other, but so is the seating in many other good restaurants. Definitely going back.
Joshua Moss
The food here was delicious. It was prepared and served rather quickly. The best bit was that it tasted rather fresh. My personal favorite is the wonton soup. The starters are great and the portions are huge. The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. I must add the restaurant was spic and span as were the washrooms. Quite a rarity.

I recently had dinner here, and I was very impressed by our meal. The food was little less spicier than expected, but it tasted great. The char kway teow was a surprise, and tasted brilliant, with a very nice, smokey flavour. The roti was fresh, and just the right lend of crispy and squidgy, and the chicken was flavoursome. The rojak was a little on the sweeter side, but the meal was finished nicely by the tea tarik and ABC. The servers were very efficient and friendly. The portions were very generous, and food was priced very reasonably. I highly recommend a visit.

I hail from Malaysia and have been staying here for quite some time and have eaten at a lot of eating joints as I've worked in this sector for about 15 years. This place was very impressive for someone as picky as me. The best dish out of all was the seafood char kuah teow. I also tried chicken rice and sotong kangkung among others. One should definitely give this place a try as the food is reasonably priced and is appropriate for tourists.

I went to this restaurant and had a three course meal. I found it pretty delicious and it was good value for money. The atmosphere was quite relaxed, however, you may have to share a table with the other customers that might just put you off as privacy becomes quite limited.

I had an amazing experience at this place. It is such an exciting place to be at. The reasonable pricing is what make the place totally awesome. I recommend trying their nasi mark and chili crab ,but avoid curry puffs. The flavors were so intense that i had an usual taste lingering in my tongue after leaving the restaurant.

This place has some good, affordable Malaysian food on offer. the menu has an interesting variety too and i'd suggest you order the teh tarik and roti canai. the drinks here have some very innovative names, and taste really good. you should try some of those if you go here. Would definitely recommend to all.

I have visited this place a couple of times and my experience has been quite good at times whereas the last time I went there, the experience was a pretty disappointing one. The quality of food was pretty bad barring the sliced cucumber which was quite delicious. The food was also quite expensive and the quality served wasn't worth it as it was under-prepared and tasted pretty bad.
Frankie Porter
I didn't like this place as much as some of the other reviewers seem to have. The food was good, the usual, nothing interesting on the menu and a little expensive really. This place claims to focus more on quality and not quantity like the other Asian places but that didn't matter much to me.
Katie Mason
This place is perfect for a quick lunch. The staff is plenty in number and offers amazing service. The food served is very authentic and worth every penny. It is one of the best places to try out for Malaysian fast good at very reasonable prices. The insides are well lit and very hygienic. Definitely recommended!

I had a pretty decent experience at this place on my last two visits. This is one of those places where eating alone is not quite awkward. The service here is friendly ,fast and efficient but they might loose the flattery. The prices charged are also quite appropriate for the food.<br/>The food here is pretty tasty, not the best ,but not that bad either. If i had to recommend anything,it would have to be the hokkien mee.<br/>A pleasant place in my opinion.

We were looking for brilliant flavors famous of Malaysian cuisine and were excited to try out this halal restaurant. But to our disappointment, the dishes were bland ,dry and not properly made. The complexity of flavors was totally absent.<br/>At lunch time, this place gets crowded and the small interiors is very uncomfortable. The service though is quick and hot!

The one thing that makes this place a winner for me is the fact that many people, form all walks of life walk in to this joint. Even though most of them are from the Asian decent, they do seem to have some connection to where the cuisine of this place originates from. We ordered spicy chicken with seafood noodles and I must say, we were not disappointed at all!

I love this place for several reasons. Firstly, the price is reasonable. Being a student, I do not wish to spend that elaborately when I go out with my friends. The dishes are simple and to the point and served with utmost efficiency. One will never be dismayed if he orders the traditional and tested dishes from the not so complicated menu

This is my most preferred place for Malaysian food. The menu is quite an extensive one and I am always spoilt for choices though I usually have marmite chicken wings and assam fillet. The prices are very reasonable considering the portions served. The food is always delicious. I would also recommend you all to definitely try this place.

I visited this place because of a friend's recommendation and absolutely loved the place. The food is delightful and extremely delicious. The starters, mains as well as the dessert was extremely appetizing. The service is great. The food arrives without any delays. The food is appropriately priced and is good value for money. I will definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place is going to offer you amazing dining experience , the food was delicious , I had satay chicken and homemade tofu which was pretty awesome .<br/>The service was very good , despite of the fact that this place was filled with a lot of foodies. <br/>The portions of the food that they were providing were also huge and the best part is you do not have to pay a lot for this. <br/>If you are planning to go here do try marmite chicken wings , according to my sister they are the best.
Jake Booth
The prices here are extremely low, and the service extremely quick and efficient. Although the setting has the feel of a cafe and the menu looks childish, but the food was delicious and the flavours were authentic. The food was a little less spicier than expected, because many dishes tasted bland, but this is probably to adjust it to our palate.
Megan Whittaker
This place was just great. Extremely happy with the food. It tasted great and we ended up ordering too much. The starters, the mains everything tasted divine, we left feeling happy. The service too was excellent, handled by 3 efficient women. They even packed the leftovers for us to take back home.
Jasmine Griffiths
If you have a craving for Malaysian food, then I strongly recommend you all to try this restaurant. The menu is quite an extensive one and the food is always of impeccable quality. The prices are also pretty reasonable considering the portions that are served. The staff is very friendly and the service is also pretty quick.

This place was recommended by a friend when I started getting home-sick, and missing Chinese cuisines. We ordered a large number of dishes, all of which were delicious, and made me miss the food back home. We ordered the laksa, prawn noodles and several other dishes, and were surprised by the authenticity of flavours. Highly recommend it.

I was in the neighbourhood, and stumbled upon this great Malaysian restaurant. The place has a no-frills attached atmosphere, which is typical of an authentic Malaysian cafe. I ordered a lot of food, all of which was delicious, but had absolutely no room left for dessert. This place is always bustling with people, and the staff was nice and efficient. I'll definitely go back, if only for the food.

Found a really nice Chinese restaurant down town. The food is authentic and tastes great. Everything tasted great and the food was good value for money too. The beers complimented the food perfectly and the highlights included the Assam fish curry, carrot cake and the likes. Will go back there soon.

I hail from Malayasia and quite picky about the cuisine of my country. The flare of the dishes offered here are different for each dish. Some of them are perhaps much better than other options. I have never had an unpleasant experience at this restaurant yet and would highly recommend it for good food at very reasonable prices.

I used to come here with one of my friend but it has been while. I went there again a couple of days back and i was so delighted that the quality of the food did not decreased in fact I really enjoyed the food. <br/>I love having spicy straits chicken curry here it is one of my favorites .

I am a lover when it comes to eating hainanese chicken rice. I come from a place where this dish is readily available and henceforth I am all critical about it when served in restaurants. Specially when I actually stumble upon something with great hopes. This place in Chinatown offers almost perfect authenticity and genuineness to the dish. Justice is done to its relishing flavour and I would definitely recommend this place.
Maya Mitchell
The menu of this place is very vast and rather exciting. I personally recommend the Chat Kway Teoy and I must say it is delicious and made to perfection.<br/>The service at this place is great and I faced no hassles in the least. The price of the food is also very reasonable.

This place is a decent option for south east Asian food in London, a city where getting such a cuisine is a rarity. I seldom never find a good joint serving such a cuisine. The bread served as a side dish was crisp and flaky. This place is a must visit if you are having craving for yummy Malaysian food!

Having spent a long long time in my favorite place serving chinese cuisine, it was hard to shift to a new place and expecting it to match the standards. However, being lured to chinese food all the time i visited this place for sunday lunch and i cannot regret coming so late! Idealistic !

Coming from a Singaporean-Australian decent, I know that the food served here is close to authentic and hence one of my favourite eateries. My dash of hope was crushed by the way the waiters seated me at the table as they crammed me in an already occupied table. Authentic in taste, not in etiquette!

The food that these guys will provide you is full of flavors and the quality is also very good but the only fact that I'm not their regular customer is because the service there is very slow. You might end up waiting for ages to get your meal. <br/>Apart from this fact this place is a must go :)

The biggest positives about this place is that the portions served here are humongous and therefore sharing here might be a good idea! The food served here is of supreme quality and the aroma of each dishes might want to come back for more.<br/>My recommendations include chicken and lamb satay!

I ordered takeout from this place, and was really disappointed in the food. The curry laksa that I received was very watery, and was clearly prepared by someone who wasn't familiar with Malaysian cooking. It lacked the traditional creamy coconut milk that is conventionally a part of the curry laksa everywhere. Moreover, it was almost plain noodles with very less tofu and meat. The Milo dinosaur was not anything special either. It too was watery, and lacking essential ingredients. I have to say I was left very upset by this meal.

This place is worth a visit if you really crave for Singapore/Malaysia fare. The flavours are skewed more towards Malaysia flavours. Having the chilli padi to me is all that counts. This place serves fresh fruit juice and deserts like chendol that make you really feel home. You have to come if you miss satay beehoon, char kuey tiao, fried carrot cake, prawn and lor mee.<br/>

Amazing Malaysian food! Best I have in London. The coconut juice was also incredible.

Some years ago, my friends and I went on a midnight snack hunt, we ended in Chinatown and stepped into this Malaysian restaurant called Rasa Sayang and the food was really decent, we had this starter that was freshly pan fried in butter, and a sweet curry dipping sauce. Fried noodles, fish balls in soup, chicken curry. I had some pandan jelly dessert; I had intro my friends to Malaysian tea. It’s the way it’s made that brings the richness of the flavour in; the technique is called pulled tea.<br/><br/><br/>

I guess it's a good thing, overall. As soon as you enter Rasa Sayang you'll be seated, and it'll take minutes to get your meal after you've ordered. The food is plentiful, though nothing is outstanding. Prices are very reasonable. Unfortunately, the eagerness of the kitchen means that you have two choices: watching your food for ten minutes, or a very burnt tongue.

I saw that this restaurant had a 5 rating for cleansiness but I would rate it ZERO for its food. My guest had the laska which turned out to be nothing more than a cheap version of a CURRY SOUP! <br/>My meal was the char keow with tiger prawns when the dish arrived I queried the missing tiger prawns and was told by the waiter "NO TIGER PRAWNS" The char kuay teow was very bland to the point I had to ask for some chilli sauce. If that wasn't bad enough our starters of chicken satay arrived towards the end of the meal as for our dessert please dont get me started on the ABC or Chendol Ice. I will NEVER eat in this restaurants and would NEVER recommend it either. This restaurant give Malaysia a very bad name.
