This is the first time I have been here for dinner even though the restaurant is practically on my door step! We enjoyed the Duck with mashed potato followed by chocolate mousse. Delicious!! We thought the menu was very reasonably priced particularly for the area. The service was excellent with very friendly staff. I would thoroughly recommend.

A fantastic new discovery in the heart of Marylebone. With its rustic French interiors this Wine store/delicatessen serves up some fantastic grub. Enjoy some of the fine French cooking as you sample the escargot, onglet or confit duck. The charcuterie and cheese boards are equally impressive and great value for money. With a £10 corkage charge you get to enjoy a bottle of champagne from the restaurant shop. The service is informative, friendly and efficient. Great ambience, relaxed, a place that feels like home. Simply Fantastic

Very Special French Place. Lovely wines shop with a charming French Deli, and Café. The place is well designed, and plenty of characters.
The Charcuterie and Cheeses are probably amongst the bests in London, and similar to those in France. The food menu is attractive and well executed. The service is nice and typically French (and not Parisian.....).
But the best part is related to the wines. The corkage in a French way is a wonderful find. You buy your bottle of wine, in a selection of 200 bottles (best shop prices in Marylebone, and probably in London), and with an additional 10 £, you could enjoy it with a Cheese or Charcuterie plate. That was delicious and brilliant.
Will definitely recommend "Le Vieux Comptoir"

Le Vieux Comptoir is a muddle of a place. It initially opened as a French wine shop and then they expanded the downstairs area into a café with a charming courtyard and a delicatessen. We found it was a rather nice place to go for brunch in Marylebone. I liked how there were lot of French dishes you don’t normally see at other cafés like Oeufs Cocotte and I thought in time, it would provide some healthy competition to the massively popular Fromargerie next door.

But on our most recent visit, I found myself quite bemused with the changes made. The layout was changed with more seating added and strangest addition was the presentation of three different menus: Breakfast, Brunch and an All-day menu. And at 12 noon on a Sunday, it seemed we could order from all of them. There was only one chef in the open kitchen and when we went, all the tables were full. Given the number of people and the vast array of choices, I really don’t know the she managed all the cooking by herself. When we there, the family of five next to us ordered from the all day menu, the elderly couple other side of us, ordered from the breakfast menu and to complicate it further, we ordered a salad and eggs Benedict from the brunch menu!

Of course, this led to a long wait as each dish came out on by one. The waiters seemed overwhelmed and there were quite a few rudimentary mistakes made. The comedy of errors started with our food being was served with no cutlery provided. Then we discovered they gave us the wrong salad despite writing down our order and finally, without even asking us if we were done, they removed our dishes before we were finished.

Despite these criticisms, I'm not ready to write off Le Vieux Comptoir. I like the originality of some of the dishes and the quirkiness of the place yet some improvements definitely need to be made. For one, they really need define what they are. Right now, they are specialty French wine shop where you can buy French salami and cheese and also a café and restaurant depending on the menu you choose. Which brings me to the menu which needs some serious editing; there is absolutely no need to have three separate menus. It's too confusing for the customers and too much work for the kitchen. The waiters, lovely as they are, also need more training.

Hopefully, as time goes by these wrinkles get ironed out as I do really like the manager and the staff. And the cooking is fabulous and the croissants are always fresh. The chef certainly knows what’s she’s doing in that kitchen. So I think the best time to visit would be off-peak – before 11 am or after 2 pm when it’s not so crowded. And perhaps if I go back I will try the fourth menu available, the ‘Afternoon Tea’ menu. ;)

The French onion soup and the escargot are excellent! These were so good that I could have ordered them twice instead of the main course. The entrance is a little confusing. It is not through a door at ground level, which seems to be the main one, but go down stairs beside it and you can find a correct door! The atmosphere in the restaurant was also good. I would like to go back to eat there again.

This place is the French style: the service is French (i.e. not great), the wine is great, the menu is pretty odd, but it comes together wonderfully and the food we had (cheese, salad, quiche) was extremely good. The quiche in particular was stunning - I like quiche but I can’t say I have ever been particular excited or impressed but it before, but this one was a joy. Five stars from me, l understand that some people expecting more typical London restaurant conventions may be disappointed, I was not.

A perfectly pleasant experience but hard to really recommend. They didn't have the all all you could eat raclette and the fondue felt pretty mean portion wise. Wine was (as to be expected) very good, as was the Creme Brulee.

I like this restaurant I must have eaten there 2-3 times. I recommend the quiche 🤤😋 The warm service. The adorable French waitress and the pleasant manager. If you are looking for a quiet and delicious place there we go. French food its the best for the first date 🥰

Had dinner in the basement. It's definitely an interesting place, with what I'll call "straightforward" food (nothing subtle, but decently done), and the service a little erratic.

Went for the all you can eat raclete. Oh lawdy, if you have never had cheese euphoria, this place will help you get there. The staff are super friendly, and very helpful. And they have a great selection of wines.

Really good value for authentic French food. The duck is well cooked but a little on the rare side when I ordered medium. Flambee creme brulee is probably the best I've ever had.
