Had a quick dinner after work in this lovely City pub. The butternut squash ravioli was absolutely gorgeous and a very generous portion. My son had the sausage roll - it was huge and just delicious - he let me try some. I will be having one next time! We couldn't resist the desserts, the brownie sundae is far too good. We will definitely be back, there are so many things on the menu that I must try... will it be that sausage roll, the game pie or bacon steak with duck egg??
The Manager was so friendly and helpful with the menus. Service was good, attentive but not intrusive. Loved the food, the recommended beef brisket was fab. So was the seafood burger, yummy. Both starters of prawns and white bait was very nicely flavoured and cooked. Only comment is the custard, too runny for my liking as I love my custard.
Would def. go back and would recommend.
On a hot summer’s night, I’m unwinding in St Bart’s. Not the Caribbean island, but a welcoming cool pub in the heart of London. I’m here to sample the new barbecue soul food menu featuring the finest fresh and sustainably sourced British meat, (as you’d expect, given that we are right by the famous Smithfield meat market), smoked or slow cooked with Kentish apple wood.
St Bart’s Brewery has launched a meaty new “barbecue soul food” menu (not such a bad idea for a pub situated across the street from Smithfield Market). Part of the Hush Heath Estate group, the pub uses apple wood from its Kent estate to smoke and cook a range of fresh and sustainably sourced British meat, fish and vegetables.
St. Bart’s Brewery is a craft beer gastropub located opposite London’s historic Smithfield Market. In addition to serving a selection of lager and beers (including some from the local Camden Town Brewery), they also serve English wine and cider from the Kent based Hush Heath Estate and Winery. The menu changes regularly and the food includes bar nibbles such as Scotch eggs and Welsh rarebit and more bistro style food including steak tartare and salad Niciose (with seared tuna loin). The space is large and there are two floors – the top one is the formal dining area but you can order food to eat on the lower floor.
Went here with a large group from work.
I started with the prawns, although there was a lot of shell on prawns it wasn't served with a finger bowl which was a bit messy.
For the main I ordered the burger which although it was tasty was so ridiculously huge I couldn't pick it up and eat it. I ended up eating the burger with a knife and fork. Also the huge triple cooked chips were so hard they were inedible.
We went on a travelzoo voucher, three courses and three glasses of wine for £40 per couple which was great value. The wine was also from the owner's vineyard in Kent which I thought was a good touch. Without the voucher I think I would have been disappointed with the cost of the food compared to quality.
Although our waiters were helpful while there they have to go downstairs and out the back for the food so it was hard to grab them for service.
This is a great place in my opinion. The interiors are very modern and posh. The service too is really efficient. This place has a menu serving some of the most mouth watering dishes ever and the wine selection is extremely impressive too. My visit here with a friend of mine was awesome. I am definitely coming back again!
I recently tried this bar and had a lovely time here. There was a wide range of options in drinks, especially beer. The ambience is great with beautiful decor. The service is pretty quick but all the staff members are not that decent. Thus, I would like to visit this place again, only for it's drinks and nothing else.
If you are a person who loves beer and loves to try different beers then this is the place for you. They have an amazing variety of beers to choose from. The food is incredible and definitely worth every single penny that you pay. I would definitely recommend their burgers. They are amazing. Recommended.
They offer one of the most excellent array of beers I have ever had. The drinks have a very good taste and are unique in its own way. They also serve you with very delicious burgers which are big in size and worth the money. The staff were extremely helpful and warm. I have no reason not to visit this place again.
This place is blessed with an amazing location which offers a spectacular view perfect for both business and personal meals. I went here with my friends from work and had an amazing time here. The drinks here are absolutely delicious and there is nothing which disappoints, I highly recommend this place to everyone.
This bar/restaurant is beautiful on the inside, draped in fairy lights and new, comfortable furniture throughout. They have an extensive wines list (on the more expensive side) which is great if you want to try something new, alongside a gin menu. I attended an open mic on a Monday night and got to see so many talented performers so it was a lot of fun! ✨

A super great London pub wedding venue - spacious inside and loads of fairy lights mean this is a great spot if you're getting married at one of the London Town Halls. There's fab space downstairs for dining, the snug bar is super cosy and the toilets are nice (quite important, a lot of London pubs that do weddings have pretty dire loos!) and, most importantly, it has a great space for dancing.
There's also some cool spots nearby for couple photos - all the industrial stuff near Smithfield Market works really well.
Absolutely incredibly venue. We attended a wedding here at the weekend, and the service, food, atmosphere, environment was superb. The industrial vibe with the fairy lights, large windows and seating arrangements made the venue perfect. There was Nothing to fault. The food was top class and all 90plus guests ate steak at the same time. It was perfectly cooked, and tasted divine. The service at the bar was brilliant, any drink could be made and the standard of cocktails and prosecco was excellent. The bride and groom made a great choice picking The Balfour for their special day because the team on 22/10 did an amazing job to make it special for everyone!! Definitely returning to try out more of the menu ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Visited today on our wedding anniversary as the building used to be a bank that my wife and I worked I together before we married.
Lovely setting, food and drink excellent.
Probably the best pie I've ever had.
Guided tour of the old bank vault was a lovely touch and a great trip down memory lane.
Definitely will visit again.
I went for a social event of a conference. The finger food was really nice. The beer selection on tap was modest, but good. Prices I believe in the same level as anywhere in London.
A great place to unwind and to enjoy an excellent pint of beer. Great attentive staff. A mezzanine is always a plus, just a very pleasant place to go and have a drink! I thoroughly recommend as a base for exploring Smithfield and St. Bart's. Top marks.
If you’re looking for a truly unique and wonderful London wedding venue, you have come to the right place!
Everything at Balfour is perfect. We had 100 guests and they all commented on how amazing the venue was!
The food is NEXT LEVEL GOOD!!
We’ve weren’t expecting so many compliments on our wedding food, but the chefs completely smashed it out the park - people were still talking about it for days after the wedding!!
Everything from start to finish was so smooth, communication throughout was fantastic and the service on the day was second to none. I cannot recommend this place enough, you will be completely looked after.
Special shout-out has to go to Matilda who was the BEST. She kept us on track throughout the planning process, her communication was brilliant and she was there on the day for whatever we needed.
Thank you Matilda, and everyone at Balfour for making our wedding day truly unforgettable! 😊
Exactly a year ago we got married at St Barts Brewery and it dawned on me I never left a review. So for those who may be considering this venue for your wedding (from 2021, when all the covid madness has blown over!) I cannot recommend it enough. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate every single request we had. If you want somewhere flexible, where you can have the food you want, the booze you want and literally everything else you want, these are the guys for you. We had simply the best wedding, wonderfully organised by Pam and the crew who were not only great to deal with but super skilled and efficient. The chef is brilliant and the food and recipes we requested were perfectly done. I could keep going but basically this is a venue that really cares, is extremely experienced and will work very hard to make sure you have the wedding that you want. Would give 10 stars if I could. x
Funky place for a wedding celebration... quite a large company, so we were a bit squashed for a meal. The food was delicious, a bit small portions, but we had a set menu...
Visited for their relatively new open mic night. The bar is beautiful and has a pleasant atmosphere. The bar staff are very knowledgeable and attentive.
There is an upstairs balcony area overlooking the platform and bar below. Also upstairs they have a private bar area which can be booked and would make a great party or company event.
The food is amazing and surprising for a bar.
The area is quite quiet and sits opposite the Elizabeth line station so it is easy to get to.
Overall a great experience and made for one of the best nights out I've had in London
Will be returning!
