Amazing place. Service is excellent. Place is popular. Food and drink is great. Atmosphere you'd expect in Belgravia or on the Kings Road or something; decorations very interesting and an art gallery at the back (well two actually) which kind of like adds a nice touch. Never seen anything like it in my life and to think we are neighbours on the South Circular the place is "Pretty Amazing" and anyone who likes their food and drink and is interested in art should take a look at this place.
The place is wonderful, great food, friendly team and good atmosphere. Located in the heart of Forest Hill it's a perfect place to get away from the noice and crowd. Kids friendly too which is a huge bonus.
Always worth a visit. Sat in the Garden in a patch of sunshine and enjoyed a surprisingly tasty French Kiss! (Cocktail) with my partner. Happy hour from 4.30 all good. Staff upbeat and friendly. Squid & Salad with raw cougette and Teriyaki was lush.
So nice to have quiet outside space in the middle of town.
It took two years but I finally completed the cafe tour of Forest Hill when I stepped into Canvas and Cream. Why it took so long, I don't know - maybe it was because I wanted so badly for it to be good.
Sold as a cafe and gallery, it is neatly decorated and furnished with a feel I have only seen once before at Brunswick House but that has the advantage of being a quasi showroom for the attached antique store, Lassco. At C&C, you get the feeling that this hodgepodge of furniture and furnishings has been meticulously thought out and that the fact the table had different styles of chairs was indeed intentional - and it worked.
Settling in for a Sunday brunch, the menu read like a cure for a hangover with your usual suspects being prevalent. Full English, Salmon Royale, French Toast all sounded dreamy on paper and exactly what was needed to do the meal justice - it was brunch after all.
We settled for the smoked haddock kedgree and the berries, creme fraiche & maple syrup American pancakes which were both lovely. Simple and completely satisfying, what the dishes lacked in style it makes up for by just being tasty and hearty - attributes which I'm sure most would find of more interest.
Meal done, a satisfied pat of the stomach and a causal stroll around the gallery later, I walked out into beaming sunlight comforted that I now knew C&C was as good as I'd hoped. A return will be more than likely.

The cafe has a art gallery and studio space at the back and is also open in the evening as a restaurant, which I've yet to try, but hopefully will soon. At the weekend it is always packed, so aim to get there before 11am if you want a chance of getting a table!
Absolutely delicious, but a bit on the pricey side. Great brunch menu.
Excellent, proper sausage bap! The coffee was fantastic too. Super friendly cafe, plenty of space, and some really interesting, quirky art on the walls too. I'd be very happy to come back next time I'm in the area.
I have been here a few times before in the past and the service and food is always so good! Everything is presented with great care and both of the chefs pay great attention to detail.
I ordered the royale with crumpets and hollandaise sauce and my best friend had a burger and chips. The food was divine!
Our waiter was so cheerful and friendly. He was extremely attentive and came back to check that everything was okay.
The environment is clean and aesthetically pleasing with a slight rustic look which makes it stand out. We opted to sit on the table with sofas this time and it was very comfortable.
Overall it is a friendly restaurant and it is welcoming to all. In the past I brought my daughter here and we found it accommodating.
Super cute cafe in the heart of forest hill with a back garden for sunny days. Kitsch quirky decor and a comfy living room feel inside.
Smoothies, juices and cakes were delicious
Also got the Buddha salad, which was ok but slightly underwhelming, not much flavour. The chips were yum though, seasoned well!
Aside from that though, would definitely go back!
Went here for my birthday for breakfast. Lovely food and great service. They even made me a different drink for free after a misunderstanding. I'll be back.
First time here and I will definitely be back. Lovely food, drink and decor and the staff were all really nice and friendly.
I received a voucher from a friend for my birthday and took another friend, as it was also her birthday. We had a lovely meal. The staff couldn't be more pleasant and helpful and the food was really nice and very filling. Definitely a treat I will remember.
A lovely coffee/brunch/ after work snack place ! Right by Forest Hill station with a menu offering a variety of different dishes. Loved the atmosphere and the staff !
This was a really cool cafe in Forest Hill. Firstly I was surprised how big it was inside. Had a nice open plan feel to it.
I was really impressed by the effort that had gone in the decor of the cafe. Quirky, rustic, artsy space with excellent array of lighting around the cafe.... also really enjoyed the open plan toilet space downstairs.
Aside from this the food was lovely, we both opted for brunch dishes in mid afternoon! - Bacon Benedict and Eggs Royale. I added Avocado which was no trouble for them. We were really impressed with both the taste and the presentation.
The juice Ginger Glow was really tasty too. The only thing that we could fault was the flat whites were really milky (like Costa) and could have been stronger coffee wise but this was our taste. It was still nicely presented.
The gentlemen server was kind and welcoming throughout and we felt well looked after.
I was really impressed with this place.
I have visited this cafe on several occasions and I am always welcomed with politeness abd kindness.
The food, including the cakes are tasty. It is great place to meet with friends and family for any kind of occasion.
Canvas and Cream has been my go to place for nosh since 2016/17. In 2016 I visited a lot with the child I was a nanny for and the quality and service was excellent each time. I went back in 2018 for the pancakes I had been dreaming about and again the quality, services and food was amazing.
Canvas and Cream is decorated exquisitely with vintage elements and antiques everywhere. It is really clear that every feature right down to the milk jugs in this restaurant/cafe is considered very carefully. There is often changing art work on the walls and in the gallery space. The best features for me are the aeroplane seats and harp in the toilet as well as seeing the front of the cafe wide open in the summer.
The staff genuinely care about the service you receive and may be describes as quirky. The owner is delightful and responds very warmly to reviews. I would select Canvas and Cream over other places to eat because the service is so good.
When I posted on Social Media about my visit to Canvas and Cream other people quickly jumped in to talk about how amazing the food is. The food provided is made of high quality ingredients, ample and full of flavour. Canvas and Cream do not skimp on quality and I feel their prices are well justified.
