However far away I am from this place..... I will travel to eat here. Some of theeee best food I've ever tasted come from this tiny little place in shorditch. I almost don't want to tell you about it!!!

There's only so long you can go without Vietnamese food after living in multiple areas that serve it so easily, cheaply and tastily. The trio of Cay Tre, Mien Tay and Song Que are well known here and so it sounds like I'd eventually eat at them all anyway. The menu is extensive of the staples and describes each dish well. They don't have che ba mau, so if you're reading this, add it to the menu!

This week we had our agency away day, and whilst I lasted as long as I could with the drinks courtesy of the company tab (that’s a reasonable while, mind you) the hunger eventually came into play. There’s only so long fries can delay an inevitable, and insatiable appetite. Cay Tre was around the corner and the crowd level was appropriate and suggested the fare was fair. The queueing and service were crappy but the food came soon enough and I enjoyed it. I had the Com suon (£11.95) which consisted of a charcoaled pork steak, lemongrass, five spice honey glaze, daikon and fried egg over steamed rice. The pork was made of good quality and tasty for the most part, I could have done with richer flavours and more char on the meat. Nothing too exciting or different on the rest of the plate but also nothing being a let down. So solid effort and would be up to try a lot more of the menu.

The food itself was fantastic. They have a brilliant menu and it tasted great too. The fault I found with this place is that the staff were rude and did not miss a beat in clearing the table as soon as id put the final bite in my mouth. This place does get busy but I'd expect to feel less rushed.

Saturday night is very busy at Cay Tre in Shoreditch -unsurprisingly so given it makes delicious Vietnamese food at decent prices.

Service was a mixed bag. We had a waitress who tried quite hard to persuade us not to order any of the more exciting things on the menu because she insisted we wouldn't like them. We didn't listen to her, and I'm very thankful for that because we enjoyed everything we had.

There's a lot on the menu and I look forward to going back to sample more of it!

If I had to narrow it down to just one cuisine to eat for the rest of my days, I think it would have to be Vietnamese food. Growing up in Malaysia and Singapore until I hit my teens, it was always going to be Asia that had my. stomach, but Vietnamese cuisine has a delicacy about it that hits all the Asian food high notes but still having it’s own special set of flavours coming to life.

I have had my eye on Cay Tre for quite a while and today is the day!

We arrived before the evening rush around 18:30 I think. A table was prepared for us and we were seated promptly. The menu was an interesting one and it took me quite a while to grasp it. I eventually decided to get the Bun Sa with tofu.

As we sat and waited, all the reservations stared coming in and the queues formed outside. Our food all came out gradually and I got agitated because I wanted to eat my food whilst it was still warm.

My bun sa was lovely. I added hoisin sauce to the tofu bits and it complimented the dish well.

The people I was with didn't really enjoy their food because I guess the flavours were too strange. Which I understood because the spring roll had a very distinct flavour that I could not stand.

Overall, very busy restaurant and I am not sure why. Maybe it is an acquired taste that we just do not have. Also very lovely service! Our waitress was very friendly.

Very delicious pho. Can be variable and some occasions have been markedly better than others but still always very fresh and tasty. Lovely lychee mojito too!

Vietnamese Food London. Pho is most difficult dish to cook well in Vietnamese cuisine, but Cay Tre does it excellent. The restaurant is really different with the whole strip of Kingsland Road, with menus of auhthentic dishes that you can only find in proper restaurants in Saigon, or Hochiminh City. The chef has a skill that I can't believe that he can cook all those dishes well, which is completely different to each other. The wine list really sings as well.

The good thing about this restaurant is about its atmostphere and food. You will find a true dining experience here, the best vietnamese in Kingsland Road. Low lighting, dark wood, excellent food (I love their grilled beef and their salad, Pho is a must). it is also a perfect place for co-operate event party ot birthday as they have a private room for 60 people, quite good.

I deffintely in love with Cay Tre and would recommend everyone who loves vietnamese food in London. This is the best, top-notch at the lowest price you can find in Kingsland Road, London

Best Vietnamese in London, Shoreditch. Sample an outstandingly fresh selection of authentic and contemporary dishes, those borne out of a visit to a morning market stall in Hanoi right through to dishes found at Ho Chi Minh City's swankiest restaurant: La Vong grilled fish from Hanoi's finest, Hanoi Dumpling from the Imperial Capital and Camfire Sirloin Steak from Saigon's busiest restaurant.
To accompany your food select from the amazing wines hand picked by wine critic Malcolm Gluck then sit back and enjoy an exquistite meal in a uniquely relaxed environment.

Pho is a must try item here but if you are not a noodle fan, Cay Tre's menu also offer some other classics such as Vietnamese curry or crispy sea bass cooked in mango and fish sauces

I always love coming here. Food is superb and authentic and the lunch deal is fantastic value £15 for 2 courses. Did have to ask 4 times for water however. The aubergine starter is brilliant and the spring bowl was massive. Definitely recommend.

Very decent Vietnamese food, coming from a picky Vietnamese myself. However, the food is not 5-star wow and some dishes are a bit salty. Still recommended for a decent Vietnamese fix in London!

previously visited the soho branch, the atmosphere and food here are also pretty similar. staff are very friendly and attentive. i ordered a mango salad but after eating about 3/4 of it i realised there was no mango in the salad, i brought this up to the waiter who was very apologetic and explained i had been given a papaya salad by mistake. they automatically removed the salad from the bill. staff were very professional and dealt with this issue promptly. the papaya salad was still delicious though - given i ate most of it before realising the mistake. the broth of the pho as usual is delicious, as well as the summer rolls and salt and pepper squid

We were a group of 3 tonight and had a lovely meal at Cay Tre. Food was very tasty and the staff were very helpful when we were undecided on what to order. Kin, Eric and Allison were the staff serving us tonight and they all deserve a special mention on how attentive they were. 5/5

We really have a great time and food here. Cay Tre simply provide one of the best Pho in London. The soup base and the meat is amazing compare to some shops are too salty and meat too dry. If you can eat spicy, the chicken curry is another great choice with plenty of flavour. The staffs were brilliant and friendly from reservation to after dining. May be we were so satisfied after meal, we left one of our bag behind. I called back and the staff kept it safe for me 😊. Will definitely go back whenever I am in London.

An authentic Vietnamese restaurant serving typical Vietnamese cuisine. The beef pho taste not bad but still not comparable to those I try in Paris. Ambience good and service is ok. Overall still on my list for return as finding good Vietnamese in London is not that easy 😜

Some of the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had! The pork vermicelli is a MUST, and the original beef pho is delicious. The portions are huge, and the staff is so kind. The host continually checked in with us, helped us pack up our takeaway boxes, and even gave us extra prawn crackers! If I could give more than 5 stars I would; so definitely make sure to add this to your list of places to try in Shoreditch.

Consistently great food. I admit I struggle a little to pick out new things to try or to understand exactly what I'm ordering, as I'm not as proficient with Vietnamese food as I'd like. Catfish was lovely but just way too many small bones for me, just meant I could enjoy the meal, but that's more my issue with bones than the food.

We found this restaurant on Eater and are so glad we tried it! Clearly a neighborhood favorite, it was pretty busy on a Saturday night. Great service and cute decor, and the food was phenomenal. We tried the original Pho and the Bun Bo Hue with chicken. The latter was nice and spicy with a wonderful lemongrass-flavored broth. I wish we were in town longer so we could try everything on the menu! From what I saw at the other tables, everything they serve is outstanding.

Amazing and authentic Vietnamese dishes. We had original pho, chicken pho, summer rolls, salt & pepper squid and finished with BANANA FRITTERS with coconut ice cream 🤤 best comfort food in a while.
