A great old pub right on the Thames. It gets very busy but you wouldn’t expect anything else because of where it is situated. We had a cold drink on their terrace alongside the Thames. We didn’t eat but the table next to us had the best looking fish and chips I have seen in a long time. Well worth a visit!!

What more can you expect of your traditional pub meal on Good Friday, a well made fish n chips like the Poms know how to do, the star despite the great piece of cod was the Curry sauce, not common in Australia but damn does it work with a Piece of well cooked beer battered fish.

When I first saw the Anchor, the cottage look, the plants outside and red wooden windows just melted my heart, then you come closer and the ghosts of its history speak to you through the medieval dark stones of the building. On entrance amongst the loud friendly voices of the crowds, the comforting aromas of simple delicious home cooking and the cozy Art Deco interior, the walls tell tales of history, drama, tragedy, crime and adventure! You could lose yourself pondering over a traditional pale ale or a mature Whiskey cocktail!! Another historical London icon.

Tasty pub meal. Pretty good quality pub food and good prices. Really good location (you can sit outside next to the river if the weather's nice). Good selection of drinks too. We had the steak pie and the chicken pie. The steak pie was the nicer of the two.

Almost hidden on the south bank side, this old pirate hideout has a charm in its passages, rooms and terraces that few other pubs retain nowadays and it has such a rich history that a visit is a must. The food is good, the prices fair and the staff efficient and caring. Because it's part of the Walker chain, there is little surprise on the menu, but it still delivers on flavour. One of the perks of this place is the opportunity, given a good weather, to sit outside, and watch the traffic goes by on the Thames, highly recommended!

Positioned on the edge of the Thames, the Anchor provides
stunning views and great outdoor seating perfect for an evening drink. During
the summer, the outside bar provides relief from the hustle and bustle inside,
and means a bar is never too far out of sight. Its popularity amongst tourists
during the day, and businessmen in the evening, can act as a drawback, but this
just provides further evidence of its charm.

Serving traditional pub food and a variety of ales, this
spot is ideal for those looking for a break after a busy day in the office or out seeing the sights. As well as full
courses, the Anchor provides an excellent array of finger foods, with its own
trademark platter a particular highlight.

With the interior less captivating than the scenery outside,
The Anchor is best visited on a clear evening. But, no matter your company, The
Anchor is a great destination for those wishing to fill their stomachs with
more than just the local ales.

Especially on a summer day on the open area it is nice to have a chat with friends while drinking couple of beer. On the day time it is a bit touristic and packed but as the time goes on it is being better and quiet place.

The views from this century old pub is what makes it a wonderful place to visit. Looking out over the Thames, the terrace has plenty of seating with lots of heaters for the cooler months. It has a typical Taylor Walker pub menu with favourites like fish and chips, pies, nachos and chicken wings listed. It also features whitebait (embarrassingly my friend ordered this not realising it was lots of tiny fish fried whole). The food may not be stunning but the venue and its location certainly are.

The Anchor pub is a gorgeous looking place situated between the Globe Theater and the Clink Prison Museum. There's a terrace upstairs and an outside area right next to the Thames overlooking St Paul's. It is quite an historical pub - it is where Samuel Pepys took refuge in 1666 whilst watching the Great Fire of London. It is the only surviving pub in London that dates back from Shakespeare's era!

The menu is a little confusing.. If you eat on the terrace or outside, you must choose from 'the terrace' menu, however, inside the pub is the main pub menu. I had a chicken & bacon baguette and my friend had the peppered mushroom jacket potato. My lunch was nothing special but my friend loved hers! She got a generous portion of Creamy Sauce and Mushrooms over the jacket for £5.49. Not bad for London prices.

The inside of the pub was very old but that's what makes it typically British. I wouldn't have it any other way. Definitely recommended for drinks on the terrace.

Can't say I left feeling like I had the best meal in London, or close. I was luckily enough to take advantage of the weather and sit on the terrace which has fantastic views of the river. So no better place for a burger and ale? The service inside was manic, huge cues and no staff. When i did order it was the classic take a number to your table job. Which was fine. I sat and waited. The burger was a little dry but the chips were lovely.

The food was amazing everyone was really nice & kind. Surely some improvement of furniture must be done in the future but the general atmosphere is excellent. You should visit Anchor for sure !! The steak & ale pie was 10/10, the fish & chips 8,5/10 (pies was probably only boiled) and the Anchor Burger was an honest 6/10 (fries was just as much, generally it was good but an window of improvement is there).

An awesome river site pub. Roof terrace, riverside terrace, indoor wood panelled seating areas. A great place to hang out and popular with office parties with lots of areas to book out. It’s cashless so bring your card (or your boss with their credit card!). Staff are friendly and efficient. Toilets are clean.

Amazing pub along the river. Really big, with a great outside area where you can enjoy the views especially during sunset. Standard beer selection. Great food selection, amazing fish and chips, and fast service. Only downside the bars not really fast and get really busy during peak hours.

We loved it! We walked through a long alleyway to find the pub and almost gave up but happy we persevered! We had a delicious meal in a great setting! We will def be back. Try the beer battered fish and chips or the pot pie - SO good!

Lovely Pub! 🥰 Plenty of inside and outside seating! You can sit on the rooftop garden or next to the Themse. A great variety on the menu and loads of drinking options. The inside is stunning! ❤️ makes you really travel back in time. You order on the bar downstairs or upstairs, doesn’t matter. 😌 Therefore the service is good 😂 Our food arrived pretty quickly! It looked and tasted fresh and delicious!! 😍😍 Definitely recommend coming here and enjoy the view of the river 🏞️

Was wandering London and looking for somewhere to have a pint and stumbled across the Anchor. The outdoor bar had a decent selection of beers and drinks and service was relatively quick. It had great outdoor seating and views along the river but still suitably quiet and away from the hustle of the city.

Fish and chunky chips were nice. Food was served very quickly. Plenty of room to sit in at different levels. Close to Burrough market and the river Thames. Nice atmosphere.

The place has a great atmosphere. It has a terrace on the side of the river. The waiter was helpful and food was delicious. We just sat there and drink after dinner for hours, because the view is beautiful.

Food was absolutely delicious. Gets a bit crowded in the afternoon. You have to find your own seat, then place your order at the bar. Don’t forget your table number. So don’t expect a waiter to come around. Can also make the service difficult as you have to find someone to help you, or you can just go to the bar.
