Been here a handful of times in the week and found the pub pretty busy but not overly crowded - fairly large beer garden out the back which attracts many visitors. The prices are slightly higher than other London bars but it is a good choice. Right next to the drunken monkey if you fancy dim sum/Chinese after a few beers/wines!

One of my favourite pubs in East London, largely because of their brilliant outdoor area at the back. Good for groups although it can get packed in summer! Also cool interior decor and cosy groups of seats.

I have actually now been to the Crown and Shuttle twice in recent weeks - both times as precursors to the 'main event' elsewhere. Obviously, as I've been twice I liked it enough to go back.

This pub sort of sprung up out of nowhere. I've walked along that stretch of road and not noticed a publike venue or even anyone working on renovating a building and then one day there was a fully formed, nice-looking pub sitting between the kinda sketchy Light Bar and Drunken Monkey. It stood out like a breath of air does in the winter.

I must have gone past it when it was only just opened as it took me quite a while to discover its origins on the Net. Finally I found out that it had been refurbed from the remnants of a pub (which was possibly a strip club at one point), taken over by the people who own the Water Poet. They seem to have a penchant for beer gardens - the one at the Water Poet is sprawling and they have done the same here.

There are basically three sections to the pub - the first third is what must have been the original pub building, then they have built on to this an extension - making the outside wall of the old pub a feature wall within the new pub, and then the massive beer garden - so big it holds a street van with pizza oven within it.

The first time I went was on a Saturday (before Electro Swing) and had no idea it was so vast so it was a rather lovely surprise, especially as there were so many of us. The weather was too chilly to enjoy the garden but we did appreciate the faux woodstove that was in the corner near our group. I instantly liked the place. It felt both spacious yet cosy. It's decor is woody - but a light sort of pine wood, not heavy and dense. Everyone who came along said how much they liked the place and it was barely busy - there weren't really any seats that could accommodate my large group but there was plenty of space at the second bar to congregate around.

My last visit was on a Friday and markedly different. It was heaving. Yet somehow me and my friend still managed to get a seat on a comfy love seat. Getting to the bar was a chore and a half - clearly all the local workers in the area had caught wind of the place and were all there, ordering pints to take outside. Fair dos to the bar staff - they were in no way slacking, but it still meant for a slow wait due to the volume of people crowding the bar. Intentions to have one medium glass of wine for each of us soon went by the wayside and I opted for a bottle in order to avoid having to pay another visit to the bar. I've never before been so conscious of how long it takes to pour pints compared to serving my favourite tipple - wine.

Anyway, maybe not one for a Friday night if all you want is a quick drink but definitely a welcome addition to the area. I look forward to going back on a sunny day to enjoy the garden and maybe a pizza from their outside oven.

The Crown and Shuttle is a popular bar on Shoreditch High Street. I've been in a few times both during the week and at the weekend. During the week it is a good place for after work drinks as there is a nice a buzz of people in the bar but on Friday and Saturday nights it is jam packed.

Inside the bar there is a lovely friendly atmosphere with a mix of different genres of music playing in the background. There are various arm chairs, sofas and tables to relax in. Outside there is a gorgeous beer garden with fairy lights and heaters where you can enjoy your drinks until about 10.30pm. I have never eaten in the bar but the food always looks tasty.

I would definitely recommend a visit to this bar, especially in the summer.

Describing itself as where 'louche lives on', it used to be a 'sordid, sleazy, shabby, strip club' languishing between Liverpool Street and its trendier sister, Shoreditch. As to be expected midweek on one of the hottest days so far, both bar areas and the garden were buzzing with a mix of cities and creatives but it didn't take us long to get served.

Inside, it's all brick walls and warped wood tables. Mismatched chairs and splashes of red lend a touch of former decadence and the high ceilings and stripped wood bars give it a bit of a scrubbed up spit-and-sawdust appeal. Service is brisk with a decent wine list and quite an extensive beer menu, featuring some very local brews.

Outside, you're met with a unexpectedly large garden. Brightly painted tables, chairs, destination-less doors are scattered throughout and there's a real welcoming feel here. We perched on some steps (no chance of getting a seat!) and people-watched, eyeing up the towering enamel bowls that came out of the onsite kitchen cart.

Food's ordered at the bar and there's a great mix of smalls and larges - spicy wild white prawns with garlic caught my eye, as well as the greek salad (both £4.60). Others around us were opting for the chicken wings with mango chilli salad and BBQ spiced pork ribs, but we opted for a bowl of stringfries each - that come with a seasoning of your choice. A huge portion for £3, they definitely hit the post-work spot.

Despite having lived East for almost 6 years, I'd never stumbled into this place before but it's definitely somewhere to come back to. We stayed comfortably until the garden closed and we'd had our fair share of Estrella, leaving with the reluctance of those out on a 'school night'. The Crown and Shuttle gets four and a half out of five, because I was so impressed - hopefully the half point will be awarded once I go back and fill my boots.

The Crown & Shuttle located in Shoreditch is a really nice place. The bar has a great atmosphere, especially around 5 o'clock when people come in straight from work to have a pint or two. They have a small, but varied bar menu, and the chips with parmesan cheese are to die for! In addition to lovely indoor facilities, they also have a charming beer garden outside.

I have been there on a Saturday night and the place was literally full. We were a group of 6 friends and we had a pleasant experience. I liked the atmosphere of The Crown & Shuttle, which is the typical one of any British pub. The music played was various and nice to hear. Indeed, they alternate dancing songs with songs to sing and relax.

The drinks are okay and what you can expect from a pub.  I had two malibu and coke, but you can ask anything else that comes with gin, vodka, tequila and rum. The service is fast. Prices are fine, around 5-7 £ for one drink.

If you do not mind being in a crowd, I would suggest going with a group of friends on the weekend because I had a lovely experience.

Love this pub, really good selection of craft beers and ales. Huge beer garden that in the summer hosts a craft beer van. I am yet to eat here but all the food looks good.

In the sunshine, beer can only really be drunk outside. So in the search for a pleasant pub in Shoreditch, I came across the Crown and Shuttle.

Only slightly intimidated by the giant, ID-demanding bouncer standing outside, I walked into this easily-passable pub, the inside of which looks pretty standard and pub-like. Drinks are reasonable, there's a nice (but not overwhelming) selection and some bar snacks on the menu too. Service is always pretty prompt, even on the jam-packed Friday evenings I've been.

What makes this pub stand out, however, is the wonderful beer garden out back. It is very spacious, and filled with overexcited workers (a mix of 'city' and 'hipster Shoredicians', but all of whom are joyous at the immediate combination of booze, sun and a social life).

On a Friday, it is buzzing, and there is an excited chatter of people free from their office for the next 48 hours. There's a good soundtrack overhead, and a tempting waft of parmesan fries and meaty burgers from the food van stationed outside.

A great place definitely worth visiting on a sunny afternoon/evening but be warned that it shuts around 10.30/11 so as to avoid the drunken chatter disturbing the neighbours.

Looks like just a normal pub from the outside but has an AMAZING outdoor area that's protected from the rain. Total surprise and went by coincidence. Great burgers too!

This is a great pub in Shoreditch with a pretty massive beer garden. Sadly doesn't get the late Summer sun but still nice. We got here at 4.30 and managed to get a long table but most were booked. By 6.30 on a Tuesday it was super busy. Service for drinks was quick at the bar. Definitely recommend for drinks with friends outside.

The Crown and Shuttle on Principal Place, close to the Great Eastern Road is a great place for a beer. Situated in a building that looks like it has or is about to fall down. It's been opened up to create a brilliant series of drinking areas both inside and out. Lovely staff and good service all help. Plenty of well and lesser known beers and ciders from the keg as well as a couple of cask ales for those that do. Also some onsite brewing courtesy of Duvel it appears. A fine place to go.

Sunny afternoon in the beer garden is great. They do a fantastic meal and drink deal at only £12.50. The portion size is good and the draft beer selection is very nice.

Great atmosphere, plenty of bar staff even tho it's really busy you don't have to wait long and the staff keep a great sense of humour right through the evening. Great Post work drinks, maybe not good for quiet couples tho. Nice beer selection for all tastes. Really recommend

Probably my favourite spot around Liverpool Street/ Shoreditch to meet up with friends. Always a good atmosphere, food is great, great selection of beers and ales, many tables for seating and a smoking section too! Highly recommended. Can get very crowded in the afternoons/evenings especially Thursdays/Fridays/Saturdays.

Had my birthday here recently and the team couldn't have been more helpful and professional. Big thank you to Tom, Ria, Simon & the kitchen team who were all amazing and helped make the evening really special. Everyone went above & beyond and I couldn't have been happier with the service, food & general atmosphere. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to hire a room for an event/party.
