Amazing quality. The best Japanese food I've had outside of Japan. Prices are good too. Completely worth the quality. Will be a regular there now!
Really good. Definitly go again and again
I'm a sucker for pork belly, loved it, served in a hot pot with mustard and green beans. Mustard with pork belly is a genius idea, Koya also do this. Chicken yaka were good but could have been more tender, a little overdone. I didn't mind the deep fried fish in vinegar but i'm into pickled things whereas my companion found the cold soaked deep fried fish weird. The pork with shiso leaf was my favourite of the three grilled items we ordered. Shiso tastes a bit like mint a good combination with tender pork. The food here is not as good as Roka but a hell of a lot cheaper. Un cojone! http://www.tosauk.com Advertisement --> Share this: Share StumbleUpon Digg Like this: Like Be the first to like this post. Note: I visited Tosa in April 2009 (i.e. before I started this blog). I'm clearing my archives. Bit of a cheat post this, I gather, but someone mentioned Tosa to me the other day and I remembered that I quite enjoyed the place. Here are a couple of pictur
I cannot even remember what year it was when my one and only visit to Tosa was. Maybe it was in 2006 or 2007? Who knows? But ever since then I have constantly said "I have to return". But alas I never ever did. But ever since we began this A - Z of London restaurants J was always going to be Japanese and Tosa was always going to get a mention. I was thinking that it would have been pretty predictable to go for your normal sushi bar. I am really wanting to try Atari, but kinda nervous as Sushi Hiro could be a hard act to follow. But this time I wanted something different. I kind of stacked Tosa in my favour as I wrote a gleaming email about it, whilst the other options didn't quite get a glowing report. Tosa specialises in grilled meats on sticks over charcoal. This we had many a time in bars in Japan, especially Tokyo, which after dark were full of salary men relaxing after a hard days work with a few beers with some co workers and a few grilled sticks of meat. Hey that I think should
I've always thought about upgrading (or downgrading depending on where you stand) the photography on this blog to film-based rather than digital, but after visiting 300 or so restaurants with the Nikon D700, it's hard to it put. Digital is just so easy yo
I make it a point to visit Tosa every time I'm in this part of town. It's my favourite Izakaya in London (sadly there aren't that many of them). This is simple Japanese cooking to a high standard in a pleasant atmosphere. Do not leave without sampling the Buta Kakune (slow cooked pork belly), aubergine with miso or a selection of yakitori (my favourite is the pork wrapped in shiso). All goes nicely with a good bottle of sake. Miso love this place!
Had a late Sunday evening bite here today, it was still busy at 9.30 which must be a good sign. Nestles into a lovely location towards the end of King St as it goes from Hammersmith to Chiswick, lots of restaurant competition nearby !
Had nice starter of salmon and avocado rolls then main of grilled mackerel and seaweed rice, meticulously prepared. Sat at the counter which is always a treat in a Japanese place, watching the artistry unfurl. Simple and tasty. Was tempted by the saki but I was driving so had green tea. Lovely ambience too.
Visited a few times and I would highly recommend the Yakitori lunch set! The tempura, karaage chicken and Takoyaki are also very nice. Reasonable price and it is the best Japanese restaurant in London we have so far!
Best Japanese restaurant in London. Everything is delicious and very good quality. The guy cooking at the grill is terrific. Of course doesn't come chip, but these are the best money 💰 spent so far. Cold sake 🍶 it's a must, so good.
Outstanding. I’ve been here so many times and I can’t express enough how genuine this place is. The owner and staff are wonderful and very attentive. At the time, there was a set meal, a great choice if you don’t know what you want (sashimi, tempura, yakitori, noodles and dessert). Yakitori (grilled chicken) Kamonegi (duck and spring onion) and Gyutan (ox tongue) is highly recommended. Great selection of Japanese lager.
If you're looking for authentic Japanese yakitori in London, be sure to check them out.
Yakitori skewers were BBQ by charcoal, plus the teriyaki sauce taste great 👍 Vinegar fish appetiser taste authentic 😋
The best and the most authentic Japanese Yakitori on real charcoal grill which you wouldn’t easily find elsewhere in London! And always the besties/ best mates dinner place! ♥️
Excellent option to try traditional Japanese cuisine. Cozy interior, a large menu, delicious food, great beer and friendly service. I guess this place qualifies as a izakaya, an informal, relaxed placed to meet after work, drink and get something to eat.
Visited lots of time! Although the restaurant is small, the food was pretty good! Really recommend sashimi it’s v fresh!
Incredible place. Wonderful food, great vibe.
I was there on a Friday evening and this place is busy solid and that’s a good sign! I made reservations for a bar seating and glad did that. You ain’t experiencing yakitori if you’re not at the bar. You need to experience the heat and a little bit of the smoke!
The food wasn’t the best I’ve had but was pretty solid! I ordered a mix of grilled chicken, duck, pork, and even some non-grilled dishes such as cold raw starters and was pretty impressed! The food was well portioned and it worked for me. The service was quick for a super busy Friday evening.
Prices are a little steeper than your usual Japanese joint but hey, yakitori isn’t cheap, even in Japan. Check them out when you’re in this part of London because I’m definitely going back for more.
Great restaurant with exquisite traditional Japanese flavours. We tried their maki rolls and skewers as well as one of their soba noodles dishes. We loved everything and we will definitely return to try more of their delicacies. Staff was very friendly and attentive too.
