Found this by chance on google maps and we visited 3 times during our 12 day visit. First time for supper - Fish and Chips for my husband ( very light, crispy batter) and sausage and sweet potato mash for me ( super good). Second time was Tues for Burger night...also very good and 3rd time was for Sunday roast which was excellent with roasted parsnips, carrots and potatoes along with the usual Yorkshire pudding and au jus. Roast beef was perfectly done. Their own 'Admirals cask ale' is an excellent accompaniment, they have plenty of wine and non alcoholic drink choices.
Highly recommend using the Open Table app for a quick reservation even if you're only 10 minutes away, they're busy in the evenings and the pub side is always full in the evenings in our experience.
Very tasty burgers, great atmosphere, nice staff, a place worth visiting!!!!
Chelsea mainstay, The Admiral Codrington, is a smart pub to keep in mind for a low-key rendezvous in an upscale atmosphere. The pub has a rather resplendent dining area. But keen to soak up the sunshine on the especially sunny Sunday we visited, my friend and I dine outdoors on the deck (with pretty much everyone else at the pub that day).
An excellent fish pie but not as you would recognize it in most places. As underneath a really good layer of cheesy mash was a seafood medley in a rather spicy curry sauce. A nice change to the regular pie. seafood was chunky and the portion size generous. Came with a side of carrots which were polished off pretty quickly as well.
This was from the bar menu ~ £15, served up until 10pm.
larger selection of beers (mostly largers) but a few IPA's etc.
i'd be keen based upon this experience to try the proper dining room
I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the dining area when I first walked into The Admiral Codrington Pub. On a Friday evening it was pretty full and really loud (as one would expect from an after work crowd). But as soon as I mentioned I had a reservation I was lead back to a modern, refurbished area in the back that was just enough off the main pub area that the loud crowd was a mere hum of noise.
Modern British food at this Chelsea gastropub. Always busy, even on a ‘quiet’ night. Nice set of tables outside and it supposedly has a retractable glass ceiling at the back. Address: 17 Mossop Street, London SW3 2LY. Phone:020 7581 0005
Codrington. The best burgers in London.
I have never tried anything but the burger, as it’s just too good to pass on any day and at anytime. It is simply divine.

Through word of mouth and the wonders of the Internet, The Admiral Codrington has earnt itself a reputation as offering one of the best burgers in London, and rightfully so
Overall it’s just a bloody great burger. We absolutely loved it. There’s not much more to say really. It’s not your usual burger gig, instead the sort of place where you’re “allowed” to drink a £30 bottle of malbec with your burger instead of beer.
The Admiral Codrington is extremely hidden and tucked away in the back roads in fashionable Chelsea, near Sloane Avenue. From the outside of this 'Pub' it looks very dated and dare I say it, normal. Once through its doors you arrive into a cosy, traditional pub with dark wooden cladding. I was about to place my order at the bar and take a seat when we were told that our table was around the side in the restaurant, it was a lush sitting with lovely, bright, fresh decor. We were seated in one of their booths which was very America and a unexpected addition to the venue, very comfy and I could have stayed here all day with the large jug of delicious Pimms we ordered.
My quest for burger pleasure recently led me to the Admiral Codrington in South Kensington (aka the Ad Cod), a small and pleasant pub that has an open roofed restaurant on one side and a comfy sofa filled boozer on the other. I did what any other sensible person would do on a rainy June Saturday and spent lunchtime in the light half m
We were visiting London and wanted some authentic fish and chips My wife and did some research on Yelp and chose Admiral Codington's. The staff was friendly and the fish and chips were excellent. The menu presented a variety of other options that looked like great future options. It has my whole hearted recommendation!
A friend made reservations on a Sunday to welcome us to London. We were to have a proper traditional British Sunday roast on a Sunday - hence the name, duh!
Unlike of what we think of an American roast - just, you know, a roast... in the UK, it can consist of any roast meat. The ladies chose chicken and the gent had beef, all accompanied with all the fixings: Yorkshire pudding, gravy, veggies, and roasted potatoes.
Dinner on the patio for 3, with a few drinks in posh Chelsea: £93-ish (roughly $115).
Dinner was 3,5 stars. Really, not a huge Sunday roast fan after all, but that's just me. However, I'm rounding off to 4 stars because my company made it such a wonderful afternoon, and the place itself was really great - nice pub, tucked away on a quiet street.
Walked in and the guy at the bar told us to seat ourselves which was pretty cool. I'm use to people telling me where to sit. The dining area in the back has a lot of natural lighting and it's my favorite room in the restaurant. It's not loud and feels like a casual place to eat at.
The fish and chips were okay. Nothing special. The fish was super oily and it went onto the chips.
The summer solstice drink was really good. I would order the drink again! It was sweet and not too much of that rum taste.
This was an amazing find for me near Cadogan Gardens!
The roasted vegetable salad was perfect compliment to the starters (Scotch Eggs and Olives)!
In front, typical British Pub ... cozy, old and smelled a bit of beer, as it should!! Wooden beams and floors and lots of happy folks! In back, a bit quieter... lacking (a bit) of that same pub ambiance-- but the food and the staff were great! Families were there with their kids and would be good for couples too.
We came to the Admiral Codrington for a Sunday roast after mass at the Oratory.
The dining room is flooded with natural light. Solid cocktail, beer, and wine list.
The roast was delicious, and the service matched.
Highly recommend for a Sunday lunch.
Of the many pubs we've tried in the past couple of weeks this has been the one with the best food:
The Charcuterie Board was loaded with tasty treats and interesting cheeses.
The fish and chips were just plain outstanding. The fish crust was crunchy and the fish was moist and delicious.
The pub itself was more modern, but clearly a local favorite. If you're in the area near the Victoria and Albert Museum definitely check out this pub.
Close to our hotel, so convenience is great. Pleasant and accommodating staff. We had fish and chips (of course) and a rump steak. The fish and chips were good, the steak was thin (seems to be par for the course in UK) was a little more done than I like it. Over all, good UK pub and we would go back.
After a visit to Harrods, the two of us stumbled into this pub for lunch on a Monday and Lea surely enjoyed our time. It's a pub up front with a cottage decor dining room in the back. We had a set price meal(weekdays only), 1st course of burrata cheese & watermelon salad and my hubs had the cold salmon appetizer , we both selected main meal of fish and chips. The fish was huge and very delish, chips were crunchy outside but creamy inside; probably the best we had all week in London. Along with two pints and dessert of bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, we walked out happy as can be. Thanks Admiral C for a wonderful afternoon.
This is supposed to be a Pub, and it is, but it's not at the same time. Tucked at the back of the room is a different place, a proper restaurant. Not noisy, not crowded, and the food is delicious, and pretty cheap too! Its the second time visiting the Admiral, and there is no complaint here. Food was delicious and inventive, go for the Sharing board for 15 pounds to share and you will likely not finish your main course. Today I ended choosing the wonderful vegetable curry and grilled monkfish starter, and went for the steak frites with delicious triple fried 'chips'. wonderful... I will be back, likely many more times. Like Rene Magritte would say, 'This is not a Pub'.
I can see how people in Chelsea would like to frequent this place - although it's a bit hard to find. Bestie and I were literally looking for this address on google maps at the same time (from South Kensington!) and for some reason it didn't come up so we took a taxi.
It is a warm and inviting place, and definitely more upmarket than the other local pubs I've been to. I wanted to try the sticky toffee pudding but we had dinner reservations and needed to save my appetite.
We had a few pints (service was friendly) and enjoyed ourselves. Next time I will have to try the food when I have a craving for a good burger.

🍺 £5.85 Heineken
❤️ A food focused traditional Chelsea pub.
.
The Admiral Codrington or “The Cod” as it is known locally is situated in a quiet side street in Chelsea. To get here by Tube use South Kensington, it’s an eight minute walk to get here.
.
This pub was originally built in 1830. Due to railway tunnelling between South Ken and Sloane Square, the pub was rebuilt in 1860. This boozer is named after the naval officer Edward Codrington who captained at the Battle of Trafalgar and later, as Vice Admiral defeated the Turks at Navarino in 1827.
.
The decor here has a bit of old school charm about it in and around the main bar area. At the back of the bar is the dining area with open kitchen. To the left of the pub is a cosy covered outside space. The whole overall feel of the place was not that of a Gastropub for which the pub is famed for.
.
The beer choice was straightforward with one cask option available. I ordered a pint of Heineken which was good and pleasingly under six quid. Food-wise, the pub prides itself on offering a modern take on beloved British classics, all prepared using fresh and locally-sourced ingredients. In 2022 this pub appeared in the UK Top 100 Gastropubs list.
.
I popped in here with my Daughter for a quick drink after visiting The Saatchi gallery to see the Beyond The Streets exhibition celebrating Graffiti and Hip Hop culture. We visited on a Sunday just after 6pm and it seemed we had missed the rush as the kitchen closed at 5pm. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed with a dozen or so punters in attendance. The calmness was offset to a soulful soundtrack which was a nice backdrop to the ambience. The service was good, the member of staff who served is was polite and efficient.
.
@theadcod was a nice visit, my Daughter and I enjoyed chilling out here and having a catch up. I like the decor as it wasn’t full of pastel colours and had an authentic pub feel. The beer was good and the food receives positive reviews. If you fancy somewhere away from the hustle and bustle in SW3, this pub will probably be right up your street.

Can't say enough about this place. We ate there approx. 4 times during a 12 days trip in November. One of which was for Sunday Roast which was perfection. Get there early on a Sunday (like before 1:30 pm) if you plan to have the traditional Sunday meal. They do Open Table reservations which make it simple even if you're 10 minutes away. We hit them up on a Tuesday for burger night where my husband had a Chorizo and Prawn burger while I had a traditional beef burger with bacon and cheddar. Both were quite good. We also enjoyed their Fish and Chips several times. The pub house beer (a Cask I believe) was excellent, give it a try. Good prices, reminder that you don't get shoved out the door like American restaurants, you can take your time and enjoy the ambience.
Went for the sunday roast last Sunday. It was absolutely marvelous the meat was tender and all was well seasoned.
The bloody Mary’s were extraordinary
We held a small event here in the upstairs function room and it could not have been better. The staff were brilliant and nothing seemed too much trouble. I would certainly recommend the Admiral Codrington and thank you to everyone there on 7th October!

Great pub in Chelsea. Good back patio area, although it can fill up pretty quick!
Lovely atmosphere and a pretty nice pub.
The food was good, we all got burgers and were fairly impressed.
The chips were really the star of the show, the triple cooked fries were mostly roast potatoes and the cheesy truffle fries were really tasty with a proper cheese used on top (not rubbish cheese that tastes of nothing!).
Definitely enjoyable for a quick lunch.
Great food, atmosphere and service, very enjoyable. Party of 10
Hidden in Chelsea is this Gastro pub. Very clean, friendly stuff, small but appropriate wine list and very very good food! Extremely happy eating there on the last day of my trip. Kids friendly too! An absolute must.
The AdCod is a perfect neighborhood pub. On the quiet side, as it's tucked off the main drag, it's perfect for a post-work drink, a family dinner or a Sunday roast. The food is OK (3/5) but moderately priced. The drinks are excellent (4/5) and well priced. What keeps the AdCod at a solid four stars is the very friendly/accommodating staff, the small outdoor patio and the great maritime decor. Can't wait to get back!
