For those of you who missed out on Sambal Shiok's past, sell-out residencies at Newman Arms and Salvation in Noodles, cheer up, as they have just recently started their new residency at The Sun & 13 Cantons in Soho - for a whole THREE MONTHS (!). So there's definitely plenty of time to seize this opportunity to sample Sambal Shiok's delicious take on modern Malaysian food.
Delicious authentic Indian food, with subtle, complex spicing. The phuchka is straight up Calcutta street food, addictive. The venison rogan josht was incredible. Every dish has been prepared with real care and it shows, this is a little gem of a restaurant.
“Asma’s food is more aromatically spiced that the ‘hot hot hot’ spicing many British palates have come to believe is Indian fare. It’s layered and complex and sophisticated.”. Asma Khan is utterly delightful. Warm and gregarious. Witty and charismatic. Her energy is so contagious that you just want to join her army and do whatever it is she’s doing. This made me a bit nervous the first time I ate Asma’s food.

Regular readers will notice I don't really cover one-off events, popups and launches on this blog. If they're good, it seems a bit much gloating about an evening that nobody else will have the chance to go to, and if they're bad I'd usually rather just forget the whole thing ever happened. It's always nice to be invited to things, of course, but whether or not you agree with the opinions on these pages I hope the least I can be is useful - don't go here, go here, have the lamb chops. That kind of thing.
Visited to attend a Vegan Supper Club by EatWith and it was an incredible experience!
The place is beautiful, spacious and bright with deep green tiles all around.
The staff was friendly, kind and extremely attentive- the service was brilliant with a great atmosphere.
The food was just unbelievable, Rishi was the star chef who created the 7 Vegan dishes tasting menu and it I cannot imagine a better experience, I loved every single dish!
Thanks a lot for this incredible experience!
Incredible service. Staff were really accommodating to make sure we had a table and seating for my pregnant friend. Really went above and beyond.
Lovely food from Sarap, the Filipino BBQ pop up. Every dish we had was a delight! Had the ceviche, chicken wings, pork belly (which I loved the most), grilled fish, and roast chicken. The dessert was amazing to finish off the mean.
The waitresses are friendly, helpful, fun and engaging. Our meal and experience was really enjoyable. I hope they will have a permanent restaurant soon 😀
An iconic pub, tucked away at the West end of Soho. A good range of beers on keg but, sadly for the "real ale" fans, no cask ales on offer. Bottled versions of some favourites are available. The chap behind the bar is cheerful and helpful. He, and the pub would like to see a few more customers. Let's hope things start becoming more normal soon. A good pint and a good place to stop off for a while.
First visit and it wont be the last, great staff and atmosphere is on point. @jamdelish are currently there and they do great vegan Caribbean food, vegan or not you should try it.

An happening place. Generally crowded and noisy during evening hours and holidays. Good selection but service takes considerable time. Restrooms available. Parking is a challenge during peak hours.
Dog friendly! Great pub in a touristy area. Staff are super friendly and you can order food from Coqfighter - delivered to your table. Fantastic!
Delicious Vegan Jamaican style food. I'm not Vegan but went with some Vegan friends. I had rice and peas and curry goat, not real goat but very tasty.
Nice pub... We visited it as part of a London Treasure hunt... There is a clue inside... I loved the layout inside it's like a galley long and thin with high seating along the window... Great for people watching, it then opens up at the back with more low level seating.
It's a beautiful grade 2 listed building and has operated here since at least 1756.... It has some interesting facts about it so a great one for a London pub crawl
Really nice atmosphere and very friendly
We only had drinks here, atmosphere was good, but can't comment on the food
