Pizza Express

Faster service than my local branch and although noisy in ambience by sheer weight of numbers sitting dining, our reserved table managed to feel relaxed and hear each others news. Menu is getting a little harder to read. Can't say l like the orange boxes headlining the sections and the font size is a little small for us myopically challenged older people. The lighting is perhaps too low and if you're not a romantic couple on a date ld prefer my friends face lit well enough to read their expression but my Padana pizza was excellent. I will however return to my Leggera as its size is easier to digest and l missed the rocket salad garnish l get with that option. Plus they claim it's only 600 calories and you can't argue with that for lightweight. This branch of P.E. is also in a convenient location right opposite Great Portland Street station so if returning home after a day out in London why not choose to eat here before going back to Kings Cross or St Pancras where its much busier and a great deal scruffier.

This restaurant is good at accommodating large groups as well as singletons, with a bar style dining area towards the rear. I’ve not seen this in the chain before but it works really well, however there’s their traditional granite tables throughout the rest of the place for a more traditional meal. The staff are friendly but not always the easiest to catch the attention of, for ordering additional drinks etc. On a couple of occasions now we’ve had drinks orders forgotten too but everywhere always seems clean and the food generally arrives in good time. For a quick no fuss bite it’s a fine option where you know what to expect!
