Best kebab I've had in London. Great service, lovely atmosphere and great pricing for the quality of food you get.
The twitter account is great too.
OMG, this kebab is brilliant! I had the shish kebab and it was great! my friend tried something else, can't remember the name now, he was very happy too.
Mangal 2 is the food of kings. Had the Tavuk Beyti which was well seasoned and grilled to perfection. The breads and dip they provide you with are just so flavourful, you'll forget you have a kebab on the way. Try the Hummus too, but make sure to share it, otherwise you'll have no room for your main!
This place has great Turkish food! They serve you bread with a few different dips, as well as salad to munch on while you're waiting for your food. I have to be honest--I didn't love their falafels. They were good, but I've had better. However, everything else is great! Their aubergine veggie dishes were yummy! Go for it if you're craving Turkish food!
Nice kebab! Although it's a bit fat from where I live, I'll occasionally come for a good plate of kebab with some nice bread and side dishes. The portion is generous and I love the marinated pepper and chilli. They gave me a plate of rice which was so tasty - soft and has like coconut milk taste. The place can be quite busy but service is normally good.

If you ask those in the know where to go for a great kebab, ocakbasi-style in Dalston, you'll probably hear one of three places - Cirrik, Mangal, or Mangal 2. Mangal 2 was the one I came to last, and while we had a really good meal there, it didn't quite live up to either of the other two.
We shared a mixed grill to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie, and we also shared a couple of mezze - an aubergine dish and a lahmacun. Neither of these were anything to write home about, but the mixed grill was pretty good - especially the chicken wings, when I had assumed it was the lamb which they would excel at. There was also a side of grilled onions with a spicy pomegranate dressing, which I couldn't get enough of.
Chef Ali opened the original Mangal around 25 years ago and this branch around 20 years ago. He is something of an authority in Ocakbasi in the local area and the results are delicious. There’s a large selection of grilled meat dishes and plenty to keep vegetarians occupied too. As a reference for myself in comparing Ocakbasi restaurants I always like to compare the Cop Sis (small lamb cubes). These were succulent and tender, served up with a generous plate of salad and Turkish bread on the side. The simple sounding Grilled Aubergine was equally delicious served with a tasty sauce and portion of bulgur wheat.
It’s no wonder famous artist duo Gilbert and George have been regulars here since it opened. Miso paparazzo!
Hands down best food I’ve had in a while. Mushroom filled manti - must try! Cosy atmosphere and lovely staff. The Apple-fig tart was the perfect finish to a great meal. Ellerinize sağlık:)
Innovative and brilliant. The tahini tart is frankly one of the greatest desserts I’ve ever had. Bold flavours and clever twists in every dish. A must visit
An eclectic mix of dishes were available at time of visit, fermented red pepper wrapped in cabbage was super tasty . The Cull Yaw dish was sublime. A few of the dishes were just ok but that's to be expected. The wine seemed pricey to me but I'm sure others will say it's good value. An easy way to spend £100
Absolute ripper of a restaurant. Every dish was excellent. Great wine list, left feeling full and happy.
This was a special collaboration between Mangal 2 and mexican restaurant Em. Food was amazing with great service. Highlights were the beef with mole negro and the mackerel with soy reduction. I won’t be surprise if this place eventually grabs a michelin star or something like that. They really deserve recognition for the work they’ve been doing.
My second time at this restaurant. All dishes are unique and flavorful. Highly recommended.
This place is an institution. Always busy and for a reason. Only qualm is the prices reflect that. Fair enough, they can do it!
Everything is traditional done with a major twist! I recommend the sausage and strawberry combo, and the tart at the end was the biggest flavor explosion of sweet and salty and Unami.
Oh, and get a pide for yourself to eat with everything and mop everything up!
Mangal 2 was perhaps the best meal I’ve had in London. The service was exceptional. A fantastic atmosphere, and the food.. I don’t know where to start. There wasn’t any duds. The Apple and tahini tart .. wow! So different and delicious. Not overpriced, just fabulous, can’t-stop-thinking-about-it food and I think I have eaten at a lot of great places in London. If unsure, book!! It does not disappoint.
Our favourite restaurant in London. It fully deserves all the credit and attention they have received.
The friendliest staff, amazing service and an environment full of smiles and laughter.
We've been going here for 6 years + and its been amazing to see the journey from a family run business that are really doing something completely different in London.
Cant recommend enough!
It was a good experience, innovative take is some of the Turkish items so can’t really categorise them either Turkish or British cooking. Flavours were good, portions were on the smaller side.
Came here after seeing them featured on Action Bronon’s show but the menu has completely changed. Hopefully they will bring there old classics back to the menu.
My new favourite restaurant. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable. The beef was incredible but the star of the show was the apple tart. Apparently it was thicker than usual on the day I went but I thought it was perfect because it was just like fudge. The cream on top was amazing too. Can't wait to go back.
overall: everything is cooked beautifully (except tarama). but nothing wows me, flavours are familiar & common. personally find the portion quite small for the price point.
sourdough pide 🫓: i can taste the sourdough starter instantly. obsessed w/ the chewy texture & the extremely smooth butter.
cull yaw kofte 🐑: pricey for such a small portion (only around 2 fingers size). taste average.
smoked tarama 🥕: felt like kidney failure from the high salt content. no comment on flavour cuz there is nothing apart from salt.
wild mushroom pide 🍄: highlight of my meal. adore the scope of textures provided by the 3 distinct types of mushrooms, ranging from chewy to soft. addicting creamy porcini paste.
fried dough w/ black bean ezme & squid 🦑: lovely chewy cubes of squid w/ crispy fluffy dough. but the sour cream (?) is so overpowering that there’s not much other flavour…
chicken sarma & savoury porridge 🐔: juicy filing wrapped in a crispy smoky grilled cabbage. first time trying savoury porridge & i quite like it, very hearty & warm.
cull yaw loin w/ black lentil stew 🐑: stew is very comforting & has a perfect consistency. loin is cooked til pink inside & tender but the cut itself is not meaty enough.
lemon sole w/ muscle & barley 🐟: highlight is the chewy barley cooked in a seafood rich sauce. fish is soft & rubbed w/ herby seasoning.
bitter green & breadcrumbs 🥗 : love the vibrant pink choice of vegetables. beautiful crunchy salad paired w/ addicting breadcrumbs.
carob cake w/ butterscotch 🍰: reminds me of sticky toffee pudding in a good way. spongey, sweet, finger-licking.
mountain tea ice cream 🍦: tea flavour that blends well with the sweet & sour rhubarb. love how the rhubarb keeps its texture & not blended into a jam/ pastes.
This place is 🔥. They’ve evolved as a restaurant and now offer a unique dining experience. The menu offers some of the classics but many dishes that are innovative! The skate wing was superb and a favourite. Delicious wines with many of them being biodynamic and natural which is great to see
