This place is the quintessential hidden gem. The Earl Spencer has food to die for, fantastic ales and friendly staff. The fillet of cod and wild mushroom risotto are sensational, however the slow braised lamb shoulder tops the lot. I've eaten here three times whilst covering the Wimbledon Tennis Championships and every visit is surprisingly better than the last. Love the place!!!

A nice gastro pub with plenty of seating. Foodwise, not so great for vegetarians. They only have one veggie option each evening and you don't know what it is until that afternoon, so I'd never book ahead.
Good for families and decent for the rugby. Closest pub to us that does a decent food service
. Good beers on tap, friendly and tolerant regulars. Full of young families on a Sunday. Most tables booked ahead of time but not necessarily far in advance, having booked ours at 1130 on the morning.
Decent chicken and pork roasts. A little more gravy on the chicken and - 1/2 point for charging extra for the Yorkshire puddings for the chicken.
Very nice cabbage and root vegetables with the pork though. I don't even like cabbage and it was finished.
Only one telly for the rugby but apparently another upstairs.
Overall a very accompanying pub (we stuck to our table but people were chopping and changing), good Sunday lunch, friendly staff and good beers.

The Earl is a great little gastropub and without peer in the area but the quality of the food is not as good as its golden age a couple of years ago.
Their wine list is well-judged, the atmosphere convivial and the steak was perfectly pink and verging on the vast.
Very good roast, had the pork and was delicious. Quantity and quality. Nice option of bottomless potatoes and Yorkshire’s because when can you ever have enough. Bit more crackling and it would of been a 10/10.
Earl Spencer is a true gem for families seeking a perfect Sunday roast! The portions were generous, and the vegetarian options were delicious. The interiors were spacious, clean, and inviting. The staff was incredibly friendly, making our visit comfortable and enjoyable. The prices were reasonable, and the vegan signature salad was simply amazing! Can't wait to return next Sunday!
We had such an amazing time watching the South Africa vs New Zealand rugby World Cup final. Eve went out of her way to make sure we had the best table in the venue. Will definitely be going back for SA’s win in 2027😂 Go bokke!🇿🇦
The food at this place was awesome. Both the vegetarian and the non veg roasts were delicious. I would definitely eat there again.
The service was amazing too. We forgot our flowers at the table and the waiter actually took the trouble to chase after us to give them to us. What a sweetie. Thank you😘
We went to a party in the private venue above the pub. The staff were amazing, toilets clean and upstairs in the function room. The buffet food was fantastic quality and extremely tasty.
Great pub with a good range of drinks (and loyalty stamp cards on ales which I've never seen in a pub!!) Lovely outdoors space with blankets, heaters and nice tables with a good atmosphere. Friendly staff too - very welcoming and always check if everything is okay with the customers!
Since the new management took over, this is our go to pub. We used to use the pub next door prior to the takeover due to the dark and dreary decor and exterior of this one. However the new management (Emil) has changed this to look refreshingly current. The food speak for itself and in outstanding quality. We came in here a long time ago and not a soul to be seen. Nowadays there are always people here enjoying themselves. What more could you ask for. Review by Tony and Jamie p.s dog friendly always has treats available. Absolutely beautiful Sunday roast with mum 🤗❤today don't normally have the Lamb roast, but decided to try as always, quite fatty 😮❤wow was so tender and tasty, will definitely be coming back 👏👏well done to the chef, and thank you Rebecca for making our lovely afternoon 😊😘👍
