Brilliant and tasty (the venue, and the food, and the artwork adorning the walls). Louisianan food, gorgeous refurb of an old pub next to the Regent’s Canal, splendid new venture from Jacob Kenedy (Bocca di Lupo, Vico, Gelupo) that’s – incidentally – saved a fine old boozer from residential developers.
Louisiana comes to London - beautifully cooked creative Creole food - an imaginative huge choice of beers and cocktails - and save room for the best ice cream in town - hit this Islington hideaway on the canal as soon as you can and grab a seat for the steamed shellfish or deep fried chicken
Great restaurant from a very famous chef - lovely setting around a canal and in a calm peaceful residential area - you can see some boats in the canal as you walk by, not sure if there is an opportunity to use that setting for the restaurant !
Back to the food - the gumbo was out of this world and so was the blackened chicken - the jambalaya was average and what took the cake was the pecan pie - the pork scratchings were good too. My second time and a must go - very close to the angel station but well worth the trip !!!
Really lovely Regent canal side pub with a Louisiana vibe situated near Angel Station. The live music was really good and the food was fantastic. The beer selection was surprisingly good with a good amount of craft beer options to try. I’ll be back for sure. Only thing to be aware of is the outside drinking license ends at 08:30PM so try get an inside table if you intend to be there around then.
Really enjoyed this fun, lively pub with Louisiana/Creole food and live music. The Po Boys were super tasty! We also had side dishes of corn bread and fried green tomatoes.

A great Louisiana-style pub by the canal. We went for a Saturday jazz brunch and weren’t disappointed! The food is delicious, especially their green tomatoes and okra-based dishes. Plus, live jazz music makes it even more enjoyable!
This place is a proper jewl, bringing a different pub vibe to the Regent's canal neighbourhood.
Serving unique dishes and offering the best happy hour in the area (oysters and shrimps for 1£ each, cocktails for 4£). Top notch Bloody Mary and mimosas.
Live jazz music is cherry on top, singer and saxophonist were an absolute pros👌🏻
Food was phenomenal paired with excellent service with perfect piano player in the back. Couldn’t have picked a better restaurant for our dinner. Timo and Joe were the best bartenders I have ever met.
PLEASE GO HERE!
Incredible food, ambience and music would highly recommend!
They have live music from 8-10pm on Monday to Saturdays which really lifted the mood.
We got the cornbread, seafood boil, shrimp sandwich, pecan pie and beignet’s. The food was all incredible with good portions except for the pecan pie.
I would definitely recommend booking in advance to ensure you get a seat!
We found this place randomly and what a good surprise they had a happy hour! Oyster for £1, Mimosa and pints for £4, free corn bread. I highly recommend if you can make it to the happy hour! We order an amazing Jambalaya that came in a steel pot popping hot absolutely gorgeous. Great service and atmosphere, shame we didn’t make it for the live music.
Probably the best roast chicken I’ve had at the New Orleans cajun inspired Sunday roast @plaqueminelock in #islington
I rarely order chicken for a roast (too many dry tasteless experiences) but they had me at dirty rice stuffing! And boy was it the right choice… everything on the plate was delicious and seasoned well. The veggies were a highlight and the dripping roasties crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The roast chicken was super juicy and that rice was 🤜🏼🤛🏼🤯
All the other bites and service were fab (also dog friendly). Grilled chilli oysters and bacon beignet had us ooh-ing 🤤 (and thanks for finding us a portion of crackling 🙏🏼)
If only I lived around the corner so I could always enjoy happy hour. So much fun! Best value. Nice oysters, spicy bloody marys, HENCH shrimps.

Been to the 4th of July crawfish boil and to their happy hour.
Happy hour pricing was fab, surprisingly good oysters, fantastic shrimps, addictive cornbread (I don’t like cornbread normally, but this was amazing), fun mocktails, and crispy fries. The thing that was disappointing was that there was no non alcoholic option on the happy hour menu. A Bloody Mary could easily have been made non alcoholic.
The crawfish boil was less accommodating. As someone who has a meat allergy (pescatarian diet) the choice was made for me with only two suitable dishes on their normal menu. My dish came out way late, however the waitress was super accommodating and took it off the bill.
Service is good at this pub, although a bit snappy.
Worth a visit! (I mean look at me, I went twice and I live in SE London)
