Friendly staff, fresh and spicy food, creative Vietnamese coffee martini.
5* for the chicken curry pho, best in town.
Keu is home to one of my favorite sandwiches in town. The baguette used is perfectly crisp on the exterior with an adequately fluffy crumb within. The fillings of mortadella, pork floss, chicken liver pate, and ham terrine combine to make a mightily meaty sandwich. The melange of meat however remains balanced, not being too rich or one note thanks to the help of some pickled mooli, carrots, and peppers.
Regular lunchtime haunt. Service a bit clueless at times but the quality of food is consistently excellent, so they get a pass from me.
Highlights: chicken curry, pork belly banh-mi, pork bun
Yummy, fast and no frills Vietnamese food. Great spot for lunch! Bahn mi are delicious (love the crispy pork belly one!) and so is the spicy roast duck with rice. Cosy environment, albeit always too warm inside!!! (Purposely so? Feels like you're actually in Vietnam! 😂)
Delicious vietnamese food served in a chic neighborhood of soho. The pho and banh mi are fabulous though the choice is a but limited. The coconut chicken rice was delicious and authentic vietnamese coffee served with the filter!
Kêu Soho. Follow @Hedonisttweets 9 Poland Street, W1F 8PY . 020 7439 8188/soho@keudeli.co.uk. The Vietnamese Kitchen group is growing apace with a couple of Cay Tre restaurants in Hoxton and Soho, Viet Grill in Shoreditch and now two Kêu Saigon street-food restaurants; the original in Old Street and the new opening in Soho’s Poland St which I have been invited to review.
I know very little about Vietnamese food. So, being invited to try the famous Banh Mi (vietnamese sandwiches) was an interesting challenge. I have to admit to hesitating. I wasn’t sure whether Keu, Vietnamese Kitchen would be a good place to start my food journey. It turns out that Banh Mi is a product of French colonisation of Vietnam. For many, it has become an art form. I’d suggest reading through some other food bloggers to get a better insight into what makes a good Banh Mi – The Picky Glutton has a pretty good round-up for the curious here.
Tried the baguettes, loved it!!!
I'd say it still doesn't taste as flavourfull as the ones in Vietnam as they lack some important ingredients, but taste very close and good enough to satisfy your cravings for Vietnamese baguettes!
My favourite baguettes in London!
Had the Old Street branch bookmarked as I love my Vietnamese, so was very excited to see there was a new Soho branch nearish to my new work. I tried the Keu Classic banh mi. The combination of pork, chicken pate and salad was excellent, but a little pricey at over £5 and I'd prefer a little more heat. Will be back to try other things, but on first review seems good!
If you like Vietnamese food and are tired of the boring Supermarket sandwiches, this is your place to go to! Specialising on Vietnamese Banh Mi, a Vietnamese french fusion dish, Keu is one of my favourite places for these delicious baguettes filled with flavourful Vietnamese ingredients. It's the second restaurant for Keu, a little pricer than the Original, but has the same mouth-watering menu as the Shoreditch restaurant.
In the middle of Soho, the bright letters spelling keu are not to be missed. Inside you are welcomed by their friendly staff and you can choose to sit on the bar counters or at the main tables that allow for bigger groups of people to be served. With its bigger size, it's definitely more of a dinner place than the Shoreditch one, which is more of a lunch stop due to its size. When I went, I had their Banh Mi Keu as well as the Banh Mi Vit Quay. The Banh Mi Keu is probably my favourite, the classic among Banh Mis. The airy baguette is crispy and filled with Vietnamese mortadella, their house-made pate and pickled daikon and carrots. You can really taste the rich flavour of the pate that mixes well with the other ingredients. The Banh Mi Vit Quay was just as enjoyable, with the duck tender and lightly marinated in Vietnamese style.
The only reason I'm not giving a full 5 rating is because with £7.10 for the Classic and £7.80, it's definitely not a cheap eat! I felt like their baguettes used to be bigger and with the Shoreditch prices more affordable. Though, slightly more expensive now and a little smaller, one serving is not enough to fill me.
Nothing is more better than a perfectly cooked noodles and an excellent broth! The service is really good with kind and helpful staffs. Fast and effective service with lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!
Randomly on a Saturday stumbling through Soho I found this quaint restaurant buzzing with customers. Saw that the rating wasn't bad and the menu items looked delicious. I decided to give it a try. This place is bomb. It reminds me of all the delicious Vietnamese, Thai and Canto flavors. Crispy pork has crispy skin with tender meat the way I like it. Salad is mildly spicy and delicious. Iced coffee is on point, one of the better tasting iced coffees I've had (sometimes vietnamese iced coffee tastes a little off, not this place). Must try. 5/5.
Very reasonably priced for the area. Great food all round. The meat was phenomenal. Crispy pork was tender and juicy, and the chicken in the banh mi was the same. Would definitely go back if I'm in the area again
Food was delicious and authentic!
We had the Hoi An deluxe banh mi, Nam Vang noodle, and Vietnamese beef stew
Avocado shake and iced coffee were also fantastic
Tasty food and great value, the portions were very decent size. Service was also good and everything arrived super quickly. The only small downside for me was the chairs as I found it quite uncomfortable and couldn't rest your back. However, perfect if you come in for a quick meal.
Tasty authentic Vietnamese food which I washed down with a hot aromatic Jasmine tea, faultless dining experience delivered by friendly and attentive staff.
Thank you for satiating my healthy appetite, keep up your greatness team Banh Mi Keu Deli in Soho.
The egg noodles are very thin and delicious, and the meat is very generous. Service is good. Waitors are lively nice and timely. service fee included。 environment is below average nearby
Most delicious authentic banh mi I’ve had outside of Vietnam. The spring rolls were unreal so delicious and fresh!
Tried the Keu Original banh mi and My Tho noodle soup. Both were delicious! Wish there was a branch near my office at the Tate Modern!
Great place to grab a quick bite, especially for solo diners.
I went for the roast duck banh mi - had plenty of sauce and moisture. Many banh mis I've had in the past suffer from being too dry. Not here. Service is fast and friendly.
