I think this pub and quiz are just THE BEST. The quiz master is especially amazing even if I do say so ;-)
Fair enough, on the plus side there is a lot of space both inside and out. Food is what you would expect for the area and the type of pub. I've now had the Sunday roast and dinner there on separate occasions.
IMO the Sunday lunch was a bit of a disappointment. Just a bit lackluster. service was okay. Though there is a kids corner and on the day we went a lady came in and read stories/did coloring in etc with them which was good.
Dinner was a better option, in particular their burger. I can;t say i was expecting much when ordering it. Having suffered through a number of very mediocre pub burgers in my time. This was anything but . An excellent burger, the right size as well. on first glance it looked small but in reality it was spot on.
Dog friendly, good seating outside. Inside atmosphere is a bit lacking.
but if you are on the common and need some food, go for it
Wow - we went here pretty much on a whim yesterday evening… what a delightful pub! I have passed by The County Arms many times and not really given it much thought. Arranging to meet a friend yesterday she suggested it as a convenient mid-way point between the two of us.
The County Arms pub is located on the busy Trinity Road at the corner of Alma Terrace.
We had our wedding breakfast at The County Arms in their Trinity room. The service was exceptional from the day one. Nothing was an issue everyone was extremely helpful. Food was amazing and the atmosphere was fantastic. Would definitely recommend and also will be coming back for a lunch.
We booked a table for 5 for Sunday Lunch and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. The pub is spacious, comfortable and has a lovely ambience. We were well looked after by our fantastic waitress Victoria, nothing was too much trouble and in spite of the pub being very busy, the staff were so accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend the County Arms, it’s lovely.
We had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch. The slow cooked lamb shoulder for two was delicious. The waiters were very attentive despite it being busy and the surroundings felt comfortable and spacious with a nice family feel.
The food and service were great! The pub was a little quiet for a Friday night - although that probably had something to do with the rainy weather - but it did make for a nice chilled vibe 👍 I would love it if the menu was more extensive and included more green sides, for example, but that’s a broader Young’s Pub issue. Thank you for a fab evening!

We had our wedding reception in the function room here and it was better than we could have ever asked for!
The event staff were incredible in the months leading up to the event; they were clear and transparent with costs, their communication was brilliant, and they were so invested in making the day run smoothly for us, even preparing a run sheet for themselves so the event was planned to the minute.
The function room upstairs is beautiful and perfect for, at least, the size party we had (20). We had our own private bar, toilets, and for all we knew the main bar downstairs could have been empty with how sound proof the function room is, despite it being a very busy Saturday. The kitchen staff were fantastic as we were all served our pre ordered dinner (happily catering to some gluten free, veggie and vegan guests) which came out hot and left no one waiting for more than a minute. The private bar was constantly manned with the friendliest staff who made sure we had drinks on arrival, and were professional and a pleasure to talk to.
We can’t thank the event team enough for making us feel so special. They went above and beyond to make our event run smoothly, from allowing us to set the room up the day before, to storing and presenting our wedding cake, and everything in between including setting up our own music to their sound system, as well as a TV screen to show personal videos for those that couldn’t be there.
To name a few of the amazing team, thanks to Tilly, Alex and Mikey for planning our day to T, and to Evan and Nick as the most pleasant bar staff, not to mention the kitchen staff and anyone else who worked in the background that evening.
Definitely recommend this pub as a venue for any event. Thank you !
Staggeringly fantastic service for our Wedding Party. The staff who looked after us were outstanding. Thank you for helping to make my Son and Daughter-In-Law’s reception a truly incredible event. The room, with its private bar and facilities was simply perfect; beautiful, clean and so welcoming. You went above and beyond for their happiness. Absolutely fantastic. You are awesome!!!! That stone baked fish dish (my choice) was out of this world, and to deliver all our piping hot plates all together was a feat of genius. All the food was enjoyed completely, no exceptions. Absolutely beautiful pub with a great atmosphere! The staff are always really lovely and attentive too which makes a huge difference. Great place to relax with a drink but we’ve also eaten in a few times now and the food has been consistently brilliant (on my most recent visit I got the smoked bacon and cheese pasta and it was delicioussss). On the whole I really couldn’t recommend The County Arms more!
We went to The County Arms for a friend's leaving party a few weeks ago, and would definitely recommend it for hosting events like this! Was super easy to book and the staff were very accommodating, giving ample space at the back of the pub so we felt we had a private area without needing to put down an expensive 'per head' deposit as with many other places. The staff were very attentive on the day, with really good food and drinks on offer. Their garden area is also 10/10!
We are local and despite loving this pub for the great atmosphere and service, the food was always a bit of let down. It was never terrible but the portion was on the smaller side and the ingredients seemed not very fresh.
Remembered reading about the new head chef recently we tried to give it a go again yesterday and happy to report that there was definitely an improvement.
We had roast chicken and pork. The portion was great and meat was perfectly cooked. We love Sunday roast and tried most pubs in the area and this was one of the best.
Hopefully this wasn't a one-off fluke - we'd love to return every Sunday for lunch and chill out with paper...
