Great food — chicken & leek pie — decent beer, clean and welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Oh, and a great roof terrace.
I have been to the castle islington on a number of occasions when in london and found it to be exceptional. The staff are excellent, the food is fabulous and the decor is great. Cool roof terrace. Would definitely recommend
Superb staff, good drink and very nice venue. Definitely a pub I'd go back to, as was lighter and cleaner than most. Top marks, just didn't have that wow factor to push it over the edge.
Really good food with good selection of wines. Not too many beers though
I’ve been here yesterday for lunch. Since I was attending classes at university, I needed a fast and tasty lunch. And that’s what I got! The soup of the day was so good that I will take it into account for next opportunities, especially for cold and rainy days. Last but not least, it was affordable: value for many for sure!
This was my first contact with that place and I was so impressed. Full marks to staff for their excellent service. Upstairs terrace area is just great especially for the sunny days.
I have been to a lot of pubs in London and this to me was one of the best hang outs I've ever been to!
It’s very cozy, very cool and very authentic! the service was awesome and the atmosphere unforgettable! I went there with a group of friends and we sat outside. Amazing atmosphere.
They have a vast arrange of beers and any sort of drink.
If you're ever in London and in particular in Angel and want to go somewhere for a good drink and a great time, then this is your place!
Lovely pub right next to Chapel Market in Islington. We sat on the wonderful rooftop as it was a really nice sunny day. The place was not too busy and we were able to enjoy some peace from the nearby busy centre. Staff are nice, you have to order at the counter. We had a beef sunday roast and vegan sunday roast. Both were amazing and cooked to perfection. Really good value for money.
I live In Washington DC and love a good roast dinner. I was visiting London and after a lot of research decided to give this place a try for roast. I was blown away with the high level of service, amazing food and atmosphere. The owner is very much involved in the operation which is a great sign. He mentioned to me that their roast gravy is ‘labor of love’ and takes the roast to the next level. Thanks a million for an amazing experience. Best roast dinner EVER!
Great food! Amazing roast.
A great place to enjoy the sun on the outdoor area.
We will be back yum!
Food was especially great. I'd highly recommend the Fish and Chips (The chips fell a bit flat though, could've been fresher). The Gin+Tonics were eye-wateringly over-priced, think pricey, and add £5. Above-average London prices on most drinks. The Terrace was nice in the sun, but can get very overcrowded. Service was patchy in places, generally satisfactory. Book a table beforehand.
Great place for a drink. Brilliant atmosphere Chloe and Bella are hilarious behind the bar. Amy has the best recommendations and I appreciate Liam's effort to accommodate the party I was with. Top class team.
Sunday roast, 28 day aged beef. Lovely pub, traditional furnishings, roof terrace, well looked after. Friendly staff. Food was lovely, fabulous cut of beef. HUGE yorkshires, and slightly more up market presentation and delivery (£20). All round great roast, absolutely recommend. Big portion, horseradish to accompany. Extra gravy provided! Guinness was lifeless though, no action and thin.
Last minute stop for something to eat after going to Sadlers Wells Theatre. Lovely welcome, staff were very helpful friendly but professional, food, Sunday roast beef, was gorgeous, would definitely recommend.
We went to The Castle last Saturday night to watch a rugby World Cup game, our table was in the rain and Ciara (the pub manager) went above and beyond to make sure we were moved to a table inside with a view of the TV screen and were compensated with a round of free drinks. Her hospitality was one of the best I’ve experienced in London. Would highly recommend!
Good location and spacious multi level pub. We were on the roof terrace as it was a glorious October afternoon. Good drinks selection and good service. Only slight gripe was that the bar for the terrace wasn't open so a bit of a drag down and up with drinks. Likely not a problem normally at this time of year.
Really lovely Sunday roast and managed to have a gluten free roast too which was delicious! The manager (not sure what his name was, just know he was from Cyprus!) and the waiter were so accommodating with my allergy. Love it here so much and so happy to live just around the corner!
