Having been brought up on Indian food, it is not a cuisine I often like to go out for. In my opinion, my mother does it best. That being said, having heard wonderful things about the renowned chef, Vivek Singh and his approach to Indian dining, I naturally jumped at the chance to sample his culinary delights at his award winning restaurant in the City, Cinnamon Kitchen – sister restaurant to the iconic, fine dining, Cinnamon Club in Westminster.

I’m a huge fan of Vivek Singh, a chef who has helped elevate Indian cuisine away from the old “3 pot” curry houses of the 1970s and 1980s and into fine dining.  The Cinnamon Club is a favourite of mine for a special treat, and it always meets expectations.  But there is no getting around the fact that you pay for the quality, the decor, and the location.  Cinnamon Kitchen in Devonshire Square, a short stroll from Liverpool Street, has often been called the Cinnamon Club’s younger and cooler sister.

Perfect location and ambience for after work drinks in the city. Of note, beautiful presentation of whisky drinks, and far from the usual bar nibbles, the bar menu is full of very tempting and tasty Indian treats.

Slightly away from the hustle and bustle of mainstream London, this bar is a bit of a hidden treasure, physically anyway. Obviously with an owner like Vivek Singh it will never really be hidden, however I do suggest a visit to anyone who might not be currently aware of its existence.

Drinks named after Anchorman (I got trapped by 'The Glass Case of Emotion' and it was glorious) and one of the best drink/smoking gardens in the City are enough for any individual to enjoy. Added to this is a great bar snack menu (of course!), I highly recommend the group sharers. Although slightly limited in choice they are great as an accompaniment to a drink and for sharing in large groups. One negative however is the lack of parathas/naans given, I think we had around 3/4 of the curry/lentils left when we'd finished the bread so had nothing to eat it with....

Overall a great place for an after work drink and quick bite. Make sure you get a place in the garden!

Anise is a good choice for post work drinks with colleagues - it's a smart space with a bar that takes centre stage and cubicle style seating. The bar food is unusual in the sense that mains are served in smaller portions.. the chicken tikka masala and the rotis, for instance, but it tastes so authentic that you soon are just enjoying the wonderful flavours!

What I liked best about them is their location, Anise is great on a nice sunny evening and probably attracts the work crowds by the hordes during the summer.

What attracted me to Anise was it's seating and ambience. Whilst you're perched on your comfortable seat, you're looking around at small attractive details that manage to catch your eye (no matter how deep of a conversation you're having). I only went for drinks, which I solemnly regret as their menu looks exotic and matches the theme of the place. It has all the qualities I need to keep coming back. Including friendly staff. No matter how busy and hectic the outside is, Anise is tranquil and chill. Definitely shall be returning and I will finally be trying their scrumptious menu.

A really nice place, the bar is in the middle with seating on both sides, a cloakroom, and a DJ, lots of space to move and mingle. The DJ was good at the function we attended, lots of space to dance and have a good time. The barman didn't like serving water though. Good place to have a party and the room is closed of and private. Connected to Cinnamon Kitchen next door. A good night out 😊

A great place for a party on the weekend. We hired the place for a 30th birthday and had a great time. The drinks are pricey for a fully hired bar, but they're well made and a reasonable price compared to other places in the area. The music was really good and well suited to the crowd and the space was good to mingle and dance in equal measures. Definitely a good choice to rent for the night if you want to host an event or party.

I came here for an engagement party and it had a good vibe to it. There were two sections for two different parties on that day. The drinks menu looked really good and reasonably priced for London.
